Chapter 4335: A Lot!
Chapter 4335: A Lot!
Roan and Kentucky continued flying for an entire day without stopping. Once in a while, some Flying Godly Creature noticed their presence and attacked them, but dealing with those situations wasn’t particularly difficult. Most of the time, they either killed the creature quickly or simply fled if Roan judged the battle would become too annoying or time-consuming.
Naturally, they crossed paths with countless more Flying Godly Creatures throughout the journey. However, the overwhelming majority ignored them completely. After all, Roan and Kentucky were disguising themselves as ordinary Godly Spawns through their released Godly Pressure. To the creatures around them, they simply looked insignificant.
Of course, Godly Creatures frequently fought each other for Godly Crystals and territory, but that didn’t mean they attacked nonstop without reason.
If that were the case, the Godly Creatures would have driven themselves to extinction long ago.
In the end, they still followed a simple rule similar to the natural laws of ordinary beasts: hunt weaker prey when hungry or when resources are needed. Otherwise, preserve energy and focus on survival or evolution. Over time, they absorbed the Godly Energy contained inside the Godly Crystals of the creatures they killed, gradually becoming stronger.
Roan and Kentucky, however, had no interest in any of that at the moment.
Right now, they were approaching a relatively empty marshland where very few Godly Creatures actually lived. Roan had specifically selected this location after carefully studying the maps and information available in the RC network.
The reason was simple.
There was nothing valuable here.
The Godly Creatures inhabiting the area weren’t particularly useful to Besgol cultivators, and the few natural materials that existed in the marsh could be found much more easily elsewhere. No missions were ever assigned to this place because there was simply no reason to come here.
If someone wanted Godly Crystals, there were far better hunting grounds.
If someone wanted resources, there were far richer territories.
This marshland had effectively become a forgotten corner of the world...
However, that also meant this place wasn’t being watched for a very, very long time. No one would come to check it anytime soon.
Suddenly, Kentucky’s eyes narrowed sharply as he stopped midair.
At the same time, Roan opened his eyes while sitting on Kentucky’s back.
The two had sensed the exact same thing.
A powerful wave of Godly Pressure spread throughout the distant marshlands ahead. However, unlike the pressure released during battle or intimidation, this one wasn’t being intentionally spread outward. It simply leaked naturally from its owner.
That alone was enough to prove how terrifying the creature was.
More importantly, it meant the owner of that pressure was likely resting or remaining idle at the moment.
’That’s pretty strong,’ Kentucky commented instinctively.
Roan nodded calmly. ’Yes. Since we detected it from this distance, there is no doubt it has already detected us as well. It simply doesn’t care enough to pay attention to weaklings like us.’
Kentucky immediately became wary after hearing that. ’You aren’t about to ask me to fly toward that thing, right?’ he asked while already preparing himself to flee at any moment.
Fortunately, Roan had no such intention.
’No,’ he answered immediately. ’Right now, it is ignoring us because we are far away enough to not be considered a threat. However, if we get closer, it may interpret our presence as a challenge to its authority or an invasion of its territory, especially if it is resting.’
Kentucky secretly sighed in relief.
Instead, Roan gave another instruction. ’I want you to look around the surrounding area carefully. You probably won’t see many other Godly Creatures nearby at the moment.’
Kentucky activated his enhanced vision. His eyes filled with Godly Energy while his wings slowly flapped through the skies. Compared to Roan, Kentucky possessed much better long-distance vision and perception abilities, allowing him to gather significantly more visual information.
After roughly a minute, he confirmed Roan’s suspicions. ’Yeah, there really aren’t any other Godly Creatures nearby. Well... that’s obvious. They’re all staying away from that monster.’
Yet Roan’s expression didn’t improve after hearing that. Instead, his eyes narrowed further. ’That isn’t good.’
Kentucky became confused. ’Why not? Doesn’t that make complete sense?’
Roan began explaining his reasoning. ’For most races of Godly Creatures, yes. Naturally, weaker creatures from different races would avoid entering the territory of something that powerful unless they had enough strength to challenge it.’
Roan then continued. ’However, what about weaker members of the same race? If this truly belongs to a specific race’s territory, there should normally be more creatures of the same species living nearby under its protection.’
Kentucky pondered the matter for a moment before replying. ’That isn’t necessarily an absolute rule, though. Plenty of creatures prefer living alone. Even among normal animals, many species are solitary and only seek each other out during mating seasons or similar situations.’
Kentucky then added casually, ’Actually, if you ignore the most famous social animals, the majority of wild animals are solitary creatures anyway.’
Roan didn’t deny that argument. ’You’re not wrong. This may simply be me overthinking things.’ Still, his eyes remained focused ahead. ’In any case, continue flying around the outskirts for now. Don’t approach that creature directly. With Godly Pressure that dense, I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out to be a Godly Horror.’
Kentucky clearly disliked the idea of remaining nearby, but since Roan wasn’t asking him to fly closer, he reluctantly accepted. ’Fine... but the moment that thing so much as twitches in our direction, I’m turning around and fleeing like a coward.’
Roan nodded without issue. ’That goes without saying. I’m not suicidal either.’
Kentucky immediately adjusted his course and began flying around the outer edge of the Godly Pressure zone, remaining at nearly the maximum distance where he and Roan could still distinguish the creature’s aura from the ambient Godly Pressure filling the world.
However, before even two minutes passed, Kentucky abruptly stiffened again. ’This...’
Roan instantly interrupted him. ’Don’t stop flying. Keep moving as if we’re simply passing through the area. Maintain the same distance. If you notice even the slightest movement, flee immediately.’
Kentucky swallowed nervously but obeyed without hesitation. Soon afterward, he began noticing more and more powerful Godly Pressures hidden throughout the marshlands.
Three.
Four.
Five.
Six...
The deeper Kentucky felt the Godly Pressures, the uglier his expression became. Finally, Kentucky completely lost his composure. ’Fuck this! I’m getting away from these things!’
This time, Roan didn’t disagree in the slightest. ’Yes, let’s leave. I’ve already confirmed what I wanted to know.’
In the end, there wasn’t merely one terrifying Godly Creature hidden inside that marshland.
There were many.
Kentucky had already counted at least nine different sources of terrifying Godly Pressure before losing the courage to continue scouting further. Worse yet, he and Roan hadn’t even completed a half circle around the territory before retreating.
Roan was almost certain that there were at least two or three times that number hidden throughout the marshlands.
Possibly even more.
However, the numbers themselves weren’t what disturbed him the most.
The truly terrifying part was the nature of the Godly Pressures themselves.
Thanks to their cultivation technique and their sensitivity toward energy signatures, the twins’ group could identify a unique "identity" hidden within every Godly Pressure. It was just like Godly Creatures identified themselves. Different races emitted different sensations.
And there was no doubt about it.
The creatures hidden throughout that marshland mostly belonged to completely different races.
Kentucky’s voice became stiff. ’Were they all...’
He couldn’t even finish the sentence properly. Roan, however, completed it for him. ’Yes. Every single one of them is most likely a Godly Horror.’
A heavy silence followed afterward.
In the end, Roan sighed deeply.
Being right about his instincts didn’t always feel satisfying.
Quite the opposite.
’No time to waste,’ Roan said immediately afterward. ’Full speed back to Besgol. At this rate, it won’t be long before those Godly Horrors begin moving.’
