Chapter 2672: Angry Shadows(3)
Chapter 2672: Angry Shadows(3)
"W-What the hell is so funny?"
The woman questioned Yuan.
"You may find this hard to believe, but this isn’t the first time I’ve heard something like that. In fact, someone told me the exact same thing right before I came here..." Yuan said, staring directly into the woman’s eyes. "And do you know what happened to that man?"
The woman swallowed nervously, not daring to respond.
"Well, he died."
Yuan suddenly placed a hand on her shoulder, and before she could even react, the private room around them vanished, completely swallowed by the void.
"T-This is?!"
"We’re in the void. If you answer my questions, I’ll consider letting you out... alive."
To let the woman know that he wasn’t joking, he allowed the void to consume the arm she had used to strike him just now.
"Ahhhh!"
The woman screamed in agony as she watched her own arm slowly being devoured by the void.
"First question... what’s your connection with the Angry Shadows?" Yuan asked.
"B-Because of my connection to one of the members of Angry Shadows, I was given the role of managing the Happy Pub!"
"And what is that connection?"
"I am his wife!"
"Do you know any other member besides your husband?" Yuan then asked.
"No! I don’t! I swear!"
’That explains why she doesn’t recognize the sword...’ Yuan thought to himself.
"How many members does the Angry Shadows have?"
"I don’t know!"
"Then who in this place does?"
"Only the Angry Shadows would have such information! But none of them are at the Happy Pub currently!"
"When will they be here?"
"I don’t know! It’s completely random! They only show up whenever there’s a meeting!"
Yuan pondered for a moment before speaking again.
"In that case... call your husband. As his wife, surely you have some way of contacting him, right?"
Yuan exited the void with the woman shortly after.
"Go ahead, contact your husband. If you don’t want to go back to the void, that is."
The woman nodded and retrieved her phone to dial her husband.
"Hello? It’s me—"
However, just as the call connected, Yuan snatched the phone from her and spoke into it, "Hey, are you this woman’s husband?"
"Who the hell are you?"
"I’m her secret lover."
"What?! Listen here, you fucking—"
"We’ll be waiting for you at the Happy Pub." Yuan interrupted the husband and hung up without warning.
"W-Why did you do that?!" the woman exclaimed in shock and disbelief.
Yuan did not answer. He merely gave her a cold stare, and she instantly fell silent.
While they waited for the husband to show up, the woman asked, "How are you still alive?"
Yuan remained silent.
Seeing that Yuan had no intention of speaking to her any further, the woman gave up trying to pry more information out of him and remained silent.
Eventually, the door burst open, and a rugged-looking man stormed into the room, his face flushed red with fury.
"Dear!" The woman immediately ran to his side.
"You dare cheat on me?!" the man roared, slapping her aside before she could even explain herself.
"I-It’s not like that! He lied to lure you here!" she exclaimed from the floor, blood trickling from the corner of her lips.
Upon hearing this, the man finally regained his senses. It was only then that he noticed her missing arm.
"Y-Your arm! What happened to it?!" the man exclaimed, rushing to her side with a horrified expression.
The woman pointed at Yuan with her other hand and said, "He did it! He tortured me for information about the Angry Shadows! And somehow, he already knows this place is one of your hideouts!"
"What?!"
The man turned to look at Yuan with a deep frown on his face. At this moment, he finally noticed the sword resting on Yuan’s lap.
"T-That sword! That’s Second Shadow’s sword! How did you—"
The man suddenly stopped speaking, realization dawning on his face.
"Your appearance... you must be Sergeant Yuan..."
"Is Second Shadow—the owner of that sword still alive? Did you kill him?"
Yuan stood up and calmly approached the man.
"I will be the one asking questions here."
"Be careful! He can somehow use Void Control inside the city!"
"What?!"
Unfortunately, even with the woman’s warning, there was nothing the man could do. A split second later, he and his wife were both dragged into the void by Yuan.
"This has to be an illusion! There’s no way he can use Void Control inside the city, much less drag two people into the void with him!" the man exclaimed.
Yuan did not bother responding. Instead, he simply fed the woman’s remaining arm to the void, his expression completely devoid of emotion.
"Ahhh!"
"Zing’er!" the man cried out, his complexion instantly paling at the sound of his wife’s scream.
"How many members are there in Angry Shadows? If I don’t receive an answer within five seconds, I’ll take another one of her limbs."
"S-Six! There are six of us!"
"So five, huh?" Yuan remarked.
"..."
The man quietly gritted his teeth at Yuan’s words, which had answered his earlier question about whether the sword’s owner was still alive.
"Who ordered you to kill me?" Yuan asked.
"We don’t know! We don’t require our clients to reveal their identities. As long as they pay us, we’ll accept anyone’s request!"
Yuan already knew this from questioning the previous assassin and only wanted to confirm it.
"Can you summon the other four... No, I want you to summon the other four members to the Happy Pub. I don’t care how you do it."
"That’s—"
"One hour. I’ll give you one hour. If all five of you are not gathered before me before that time, I’ll kill this woman and level this entire building."
"You monster!"
"Pot calling the kettle black, huh? Had you not tried to kill me, I wouldn’t be here."
Yuan took them out of the void the next moment.
Seeing that the man wasn’t moving even after some time, Yuan spoke again. "You can stay here for as long as you want. Just know that this woman only has 57 minutes left to live."
Hearing this, the man snapped out of his daze and finally moved.
