Chapter 2241: Heavenly River Modifications (2)
Chapter 2241: Heavenly River Modifications (2)
Knowing that there was no way to stop whatever Mui was up to this time around as she had somehow even managed to drag a few elders along this time around, Elder Song could only focus on the current state of the disciples still on top the turbulent river in the sky. Noting that while the heavenly river was far from peaceful, it hadn’t yet affected anything beyond the river itself.
And together with the current unrest itself proving to be a useful opportunity to the few disciples who managed to hold on and not fall off the heavenly river, he felt that this wasn’t something that was worth interfering in even if he had the ability to stop Mui from what she was up to this time around.
Still... Given the relatively little trouble to the overall sect the modification of the heavenly river was causing, Elder Song couldn’t help wishing Mui would have just informed him about the situation ahead of time before doing something like this. After all, he would be more than happy to agree to this kind of thing that would at most shut down the heavenly river for a short time.
But then again, if Mui really had informed him ahead of time, the disciples who currently found themselves on top of the heavenly river benefiting from the current unrest the river was experiencing, wouldn’t have gotten the opportunity to experience this wonderful opportunity that had practically been gifted to them by Mui.
This entire train of thought left Elder Song rather troubled.
Part of him wishing Mui had informed him ahead of time, while another part was fine with the current state of things because of how it benefited the development of the sect’s disciples without causing any significant damage to the sect beyond annoying a few elders who might have been interrupted during their cultivation or lectures. Forced to jump up to catch the few disciples that had fallen off the side of the heavenly river.
Of course, unknown to Elder Song, the reason behind the unrest of the heavenly river being limited to the heavenly river itself had nothing to do with Mui having limited the side effects of the modifications she was currently attempting to the heavenly river itself. Instead, it was because her master happened to have his cultivation interrupted by a disciple almost falling straight through his roof.
Something that in turn caused him to shift his attention towards what trouble this little disciple of his was up to this time around. Soon enough spotting the restless heavenly river above.
Though... Different from Elder Song who was relatively calm upon seeing how things were contained to the heavenly river, Xuan Hao wasn’t anywhere near as calm as Elder Song. Sensing through his mastery of the Dao of Space that the spatial anchors that kept the heavenly river afloat in the sky above the Seventh Star Peak were slowly starting to break apart under the stress of the turbulent river.
One of the branches splitting off the main circular river surrounding the Seventh Star Peak already started to crumble as spiritual water had started to leak out of it in the form of a thin mist that had formed a small cloud made entirely of spiritual qi.
And knowing just what kind of disaster it would be if the heavenly river came crashing down from above, he wasted no time taking action to reinforce those spatial anchors. Repairing the damage his little disciple was doing to the spatial anchors as she began modifying the overall structure of the heavenly river without any knowledge of the damage this caused to the spatial framework that kept the heavenly river afloat.
Explaining what she was currently doing in more understandable terms, she was essential forcing what was a small artificial island along with several other small unique structures to enrich the environment of Baobao directly into the existing spatial framework. Straining it beyond what it was designed to handle.
Not that it couldn’t expand on its own, it was just that the modifications done by Mui went far beyond what it could handle.
Even worse, the complexity of the spatial anchors and the principles they governed followed the weird and incomprehensible logic of everything else made by this little troublemaker. Meaning he had no way to reconstruct the spatial anchors that kept the heavenly river afloat. The only thing he could do was pour in vast quantities of spiritual qi to stabilize the spatial anchor to the best of his abilities while silently praying that the little addition to the heavenly river wouldn’t end up taking too long. Knowing that once his spiritual qi dried up, there would be nothing left to bar the heavenly river from breaching the spatial anchors and washing away the sect below.
Even though the current location of the heavenly river meant that the sect on top the Seventh Star Peak should remain relatively safe, the disciple abodes located on and around the Seventh Star Peak wouldn’t fare so well and would most likely end up getting swept away once again by the antics of this little disciple of his.
Just looking at the happy smile on Elder Song’s face as he seemed to have misunderstood what was happening for being something that was only beneficial to the sect’s disciples and carried no real risk to the sect, Xuan Hao felt it would be best not to ruin the little confidence Elder Song had managed to feel in Mui.
Luckily, with his current strength having reached the Star Creation Realm and the spiritual qi inside his dantian being vast enough to fill a small sea, he could hold on and stabilize those spatial anchors for days without running out of spiritual qi.
Problem was, the modification his little disciple was doing this time around was slower than he had originally anticipated, with her clearly taking her time going into the details to make sure the artificial island she was creating around the sky spring for Baobao to live on was as beautiful as possible.
The first day, he wasn’t that worried, but as the third day came and went, he started feeling a bit worried about just how long this little modification to the heavenly river was going to take, Worse yet, the damage done to the spatial anchors only increased, putting more strain on him and by the fourth day the spiritual qi inside his dantian had already stopped being able to replenish itself faster than it was being drained.
Luckily, as the fifth day rolled around and he was about to personally ask this little disciple of his to hurry up before her dear master ended up running out of spiritual qi, she officially completed the artificial island centered on the sky spring together with what looked several smaller pieces of land dotted throughout the section of the heavenly river that the artificial island was located in.
But along with the small island and small pieces of land barely a few meters wide that had appeared throughout the circular heavenly river centered on the Seventh Star Peak, countless small aquatic spiritual plants had also started to emerge throughout the heavenly river.
However, the most important change wasn’t these outward changes that had taken place, but instead the fact that the very essence of the heavenly river seemed to have been elevated following these modifications done by his disciples, as a very faint presence of the Dao of Life had begun emerging within the heavenly river.
Not enough that it would be helpful to anyone who wanted to cultivate the Dao of Life, but enough for him to understand that the heavenly river was likely to also become a cultivation ground for the Dao of Life in the future if it continued expanding and evolving.
Because of this, though he felt a bit annoyed at having to spend the past few days stopping the heavenly river from collapsing, he felt that it was worth it seeing how the heavenly river had evolved. Knowing that it would undoubtedly become one of the most important parts of the Star Shattering Sect in the future.
As for Elder Song...
"What a pity... I hoped this little unrest could last for another few weeks."
He was silently complaining over how his disciple had finished the modifications to the heavenly river. Unaware of the fact that his beloved sect had almost ended up getting swept away once again.
Still, his reaction was understandable, as the few disciples who still remained on top the heavenly river had benefited immensely from everything that happened, as outside of the protection of the elders who had helped them get close to the heavenly river in the first place, they had endured the past few days of turbulence all on their own.
Among them, there were even a few especially talented ones that had managed to break through to the Nascent Soul Realm in the middle of the turbulent waters. Enduring the cloud tribulation while also avoiding the violent waves. Showcasing their abilities to all the elders and disciples who had gathered to watch over the past few days.
