Clan Prosperity Starting With My Servant Girls

Chapter 633: Lin Xuan Qi’s Pressures

Chapter 633: Lin Xuan Qi’s Pressures

"Thank you, Master Lin."

"May your family be prosperous."

"What would we do without you, Master Lin."

As Old Heng, young master Chew and their friends left, they came up to Lin Xuan Qi and thanked him, even though he hadn’t done anything yet.

They were confident in his abilities.

He had sprung up from nowhere to become one of the most successful businessmen in Hong Feng City and they had witnessed it themselves.

And they were ready to cooperate to make sure that his plan worked.

Lin Xuan Qi cupped his hands, nodded at them with a customary smile, while they left the mansion one after another.

He didn’t mind helping them out.

They were his business partners after all, and he’d rather their money be in his pocket than in the Qing Feng Sect’s.

"I think I will have to get Auntie Sue to make more chicken soup with herbs for the next few days." Xue Cong came up to him and said after every one of them left.

She knew that Lin Xuan Qi would get busy again and instead of giving him any more troubles, the very least she could do was to make sure that he would be well taken care of.

Lin Xuan Qi glanced at her, shrugged his shoulders and said with a smirk, "I guess it comes with being capable and talented."

Xue Cong wanted to roll her eyes at him but stopped herself.

It had been a while since he was in the mood for being boastful to her.

"I’m sure it is, my capable and talented husband." Xue Cong shook her head at him and replied.

He had his speeches ready to retort her if she had disagreed, but it all went up in smoke with her response.

Lin Xuan Qi raised an eyebrow and glanced at her.

She was getting better at this and he had to figure out something new to tease her next time.

He thought silently and glanced at her now protruding tummy.

"I’ll be in the mansion for the rest of the day." Lin Xuan Qi said and placed his hands on her tummy for a few moments before he turned around and headed for the lab.

Once he got into the lab, he started writing two letters for Lu Ting and Huo Fei Li.

Lin Xuan Qi had to try and get help from them first.

It might be good enough if they could stall the approval for the Governor’s edict for two or three days.

And in the meantime, if there weren’t any news back from Lee He Song, Lao Er or Ling Er, he might have to make a trip to Gui Feng City himself.

The pressure was on and he had to make sure that everything was perfect to be in time to stop the edict.

...

Meanwhile, when Ling Er woke up, she saw the dark rings around Lao Er’s eyes but she kept quiet.

She wasn’t sure if they were a cultivation couple.

So far, Lao Er had treated her like how he used to back in their village.

And it was the same for her.

Lao Er, on the other hand, also pretended that he was well rested for the night.

Both of them got out from the room and they saw that the village head had prepared breakfast for them.

It was a bun and a hard-boiled egg for each of them.

Lao Er and Ling Er glanced at the breakfast and they glanced at each other.

Coming from a poor village themselves, they knew what it meant to be able to have an egg for breakfast.

In their homes, it was only every few months or during the New Year that they got to have such a sumptuous treat.

Although they were now cultivators and no longer had issues with food, they appreciated the hospitality of the village head.

"There’s a well on the right, go and wash up first." The village head gave them a smile and said.

Lao Er and Ling Er nodded their heads and did so.

After they came back from washing up, they sat down with the village head and ate.

"I’m so sorry for the misunderstanding last night.

"I hope you understand that we need to protect whatever we have left in the village." The village head said while he glanced at Lao Er and Ling Er.

He didn’t have a good look at them as it was too dark the night before.

And now with the sunlight, they looked like his grandson and granddaughter.

He couldn’t help but look out of the doors and gave out a long sigh.

Lao Er and Ling Er sensed what he did but they kept quiet, focusing on their food instead.

In these turbulent times, misfortunes happened to many poor folks and they didn’t want to uncover it with their kind host.

"Thanks for the lodging, village head. We will pay for it later." Lao Er took the last bite of his bun and said, "But we might need to know where the areas are that we shouldn’t go, since we will be going into the forest and mountains to find herbs to sell."

"It’s fine for the lodging.

"That’s the least I can do for you after the scare we gave you last night." The village head walked to the opened doors, raised his arm, pointed in a few directions and said, "This area, and here, over there at the foot of the mountains.

"Don’t wander off to these areas and you should be safe.

"Those wolves had pretty much occupied the same areas for the past few days."

Lao Er cupped his hands at the village head and said, "Thank you, village head. We will take it to heart and not wander off into those areas."

The village head nodded his head at them and said, "Bring something with you before you head out, I have more buns and eggs in the kitchen."

"It’s fine, we can take care of ourselves." Lao Er waved his hands at the village head, rejecting the village head’s offer.

He glanced at Ling Er and she gave him a nod.

"I left something in the room..." Ling Er stood up and went into the room that they’d stayed in overnight.

"Always so forgetful." Lao Er said and waited for her to come out, and they bid the village head farewell.

After they left, the village head went into the room to clean it.

He gave out a sigh and shook his head when he saw a string of copper coins on the bed.

"Please let them get back safely..." He clasped his hands together and prayed to the heavens for them.
