Clan Prosperity Starting With My Servant Girls

Chapter 625: The Actual Target?!

Chapter 625: The Actual Target?!

After Lin Xuan Qi got into the horse carriage with Lee He Song, he wanted to instruct the coachman to bring him to the factory in the north.

But when he wanted to do so, he felt hungry and he instructed the coachman to head for Old Feng’s inn instead.

He could eat and gather some information about what happened outside the city at the same time.

"Yes, Master Lin." The coachman replied and cracked his whip.

The horses trotted off in the next moment.

Lin Xuan Qi pondered on what he could do to avoid paying up to Zhao Geng Nian.

But amidst the monotonous trotting of the horses’ hooves, he wasn’t able to think of much.

One possibility was to find the Governor and ask him to promise something in return for their contributions.

At least, in this way, they would be able to get something worthwhile back from it.

But he had to scrap it since he and the other businessmen didn’t have any leverage on the Governor.

Zhao Geng Nian’s plan was the best for the Governor.

The Governor didn’t have to do anything and the cultivators from the north would be successfully warded off.

And it would be something that the Governor could report to the imperial court as his accomplishment.

There was no way that the Governor would listen to him instead.

Lin Xuan Qi gave out a sigh and thought that maybe he would be able to figure something out after he had his lunch.

Crack.

The whip of the coachman sounded in the air and the horse carriage stopped.

Lin Xuan Qi alighted from the horse carriage and he got into the inn with Lee He Song.

"Looks like it’s good business season for the inn." Lee He Song chuckled when he saw the front counter being empty and the dining area by the side being full of patrons.

Old Feng was running around and helping out the waiters due to the shortage of manpower to handle such a huge crowd.

"Master Lin, I’m so sorry..." Old Feng wiped the sweat off his brows and ran over when he saw Lin Xuan Qi standing at the front counter together with Lee He Song.

"It’s been so busy..." He said with exasperation while he tried to catch his breath.

Business was so good for the past few days.

A very stark contrast from the somber mood that was present in the city due to the attack from the northern cultivators.

"I understand." Lin Xuan Qi nodded at him and said.

Fortunately, while they spoke, two patrons had finished their lunch and left, leaving the table open for Lin Xuan Qi.

"Come with me, Master Lin. Would the usual be fine for you?"

"Yes, the usual shall do."

"I’ll get the kitchen to prioritize your order." Old Feng said and led them to the table.

He poured a cup of tea for Lin Xuan Qi and Lee He Song before he walked off into the kitchen to get Lin Xuan Qi’s done.

Lin Xuan Qi picked up the tea cup, had a sip of the tea while he listened to the conversation that was all around him.

"You are lucky to have left Fu Hou village during the day, I heard the village was plundered and the villagers slaughtered by those from Da Mang when it was nightfall."

"Yeah, I could hear the screams of the villagers throughout the night even when I was miles away."

"We should be thankful that we are still alive here in Hong Feng."

The patrons beside him chattered and they gave out a long sigh after talking about how they barely escaped death.

They glanced at each other and one of them said, "I wouldn’t be here in Hong Feng if I could help it.

"There’s nothing much around here except for the soap and essence business that we might be able to make some profit out of it.

"Other than that, there isn’t much here for us."

Another chimed in and said, "I would head for Gui Feng or Bian Jing next if I could."

The others nodded their heads to it.

And that got Lin Xuan Qi thinking about what they had said.

They were right.

There isn’t much in Hong Feng other than his soap and Lin Clan Transcendent Essence or his franchise business if you weren’t looking for the Sima Family’s Artifacts.

He could understand the Qing Feng Sect wanting to get rid of the Sima Family and their influence here in Hong Feng City.

But why would it be just as attractive to the cultivators from the north?

There isn’t much around here compared to Gui Feng which was nearby with its abundance of mining resources.

Maybe the next target for the cultivators from the north was actually Gui Feng instead of Hong Feng?

Zhao Geng Nian might be pulling wool over everyone’s eyes?

But how?

Unless he was in cahoots with the cultivators from the north...

After what the Qing Feng Sect had done so far, he didn’t brush it off as something that they wouldn’t dare to attempt.

The breaking of the borders letting these Da Mang cultivators into Da Qian might even be part of their plan.

Lin Xuan Qi frowned at the sudden revelation.

He had to do something about it.

There was no way he was going to pay up and let the Qing Feng Sect have his money for ’free’.

"So sorry for the wait, Master Lin." Old Feng came out of the kitchen with some of his waiters and said.

The waiters quickly placed the dishes they had on their tray and left.

Lin Xuan Qi had a whiff of the food and said, "Smells great as usual."

Although the food here wasn’t as good as what Auntie Sue could make, it was the second best that he had so far in Hong Feng.

"Thanks, Master Lin. I will make sure that the chefs would maintain and improve on the standards." Old Feng nodded his head and replied to Lin Xuan Qi’s praise.

Lin Xuan Qi picked up a piece of beef and put it into his mouth.

He closed his eyes when he chewed and enjoyed the tenderness of the beef.

When he swallowed the beef, he opened his eyes and asked, "You have any news on Gui Feng?"
