My fear of the Bloodrool races’ mastery of the blood rule aside, the question of why they wanted the rights to the Card World was more concerning.
From their history, it would be either that they were interested in the blood rule stream of the Card World or that they had taken a fancy to the sentient species of the Card World.
It had to be either of the two because, in their past, whenever the Bloodrool race had made a move in the Myriad Realms, it was always either to secure a new blood food source or make a new addition to their hybrid army.
The Card World had two dominant sentient species: the Card Apprentices and the Supreme Beings.
The Bloodrool race’s hybrid army was made using races that had more potential and were more capable than the Card Apprentices. I didn’t see the Card Apprentices being attractive enough for them to go out of their way to contact the Seven Princes of Hell, showing their intention to buy the rights to the Card World.
As for the Supreme Beings, they were the rule power beings, incarnations of the celestial blood rule stream spirits. I don’t think even the Bloodrool race could procreate with them. Also, they were all made of different blood rules, so they wouldn’t even serve as proper blood food, except for Bloodette—
As soon as I thought of Bloodette, my mind immediately wondered if the Blood Rain covering the entire Card World for the past week and the Bloodrool race contacting the Seven Princes of Hell were somehow connected. I mean, it couldn’t be a coincidence that a race that feeds and grows by drinking the blood of both mortals and celestials suddenly showed interest in the Card World, whose entire realm had been covered in blood rule storms for the past week or so.
It had to be the reason why.
But Petra did say that this was not the first time Bloodette was purging her emotions. She had done it in the past, too. According to her, it went on for weeks, even months.
However, it was understandable that, in the vast Myriad Realms, the Bloodrool race didn’t find the Card World back then. After all, the Ten Commandment dark faction only found the Card World about a millennium ago. So, it was possible that the forces of the Bloodrool race hadn’t taken notice of the Card World until now, especially with Bloodette purging her years of emotional trauma after having been freed from her dungeon seal using unconventional methods and not the way it was intended to be unsealed.
The Blood rule stream spirit of the Card World warned about taking shortcuts when it came to unsealing Bloodette from her dungeon seal, but Petra screwed it up with her eagerness to help her long-lost best friend.
"Mommon, did the representatives of the Bloodrool Family give a reason as to why they were trying to buy the rights to the Card World?" I asked, trying to confirm my assumptions, though I wasn’t sure the Seven Princes of Hell would be courageous enough to ask about the affairs of an ancient, true ruler-class force.
Well, the Seven Princes of Hell did put them on hold for a day, so I guess it wouldn’t be surprising if they asked them why they wanted to buy the rights to the Card World at such an expensive price.
"Master, compared to their discrete approach and non-disclosure agreement, they were very open about the reason for their purchase of the rights to the Card World, i.e., the celestial blood rule stream of the Card World. Apparently, they were attracted by the blood rule storm across the entire realm. They seek to learn the cause of the blood rule storm across the Card World to introduce a similar phenomenon in the Sunless Realm. Since the dominant inhabitants of the Sunless Realm were all blood drinkers, it only made sense that the realm rained blood and not water," Mommon answered in detail, word for word what the representative of the Bloodrool race had told them.
Mommon and the other leaders of the Seven Princes of Hell immediately believed them because the Bloodrool race didn’t lack anything. Since they joined the Demon Merchant Code, the only times they were active were to increase their lifestyle or increase the variation of hybrids in their armies. For example, they sought more blood food options. So, the Bloodrool race wanting to make their realm rain liquid blood rule like it was currently happening in the Card World wasn’t hard to believe.
However, my question was, since when were the representatives of the Bloodrool race so easy to talk to? These guys were high on their status and authority. They didn’t even treat their own birth parents as anything less than slaves if they didn’t have higher bloodline purity than them. They treated their fellow hybrids as expendable for having lower bloodline purity.
Such cruelty wasn’t new for the hybrids of the Sunless Realm. It was the norm for them. They even performed honor killings among themselves.
In case they found their daughters or sons marrying someone with a lower bloodline purity than them, the family with the higher bloodline purity would kill the lower-bloodline family and their own daughters or sons. They would make an example of them, protecting their honor in society. In some cases, the lower-bloodline family would capture the daughters or sons of the high-bloodline family and behead them, offering their heads to the higher-bloodline family to beg for mercy.
Even if the families involved were okay with it, society wouldn’t be. They would come together to kill the bride and groom while punishing both families accordingly, though the family with lower bloodline purity would mostly be hanged by the city gates and made an example of, while the high-bloodline family would mostly be exiled.
So, it was hard for me to believe that the hybrid representatives of the Bloodrool race were not only easy to talk to but also so forthcoming about their intentions with the Card World to a lesser-known semi-ruler-class force. It was already surprising that they didn’t give them an ultimatum to sell the rights to the Card World or suffer for questioning the authority of the Bloodrool race.
