Getting myself together, I went through the information Mommon had shared with me through Hive Spirit on the Ancient Bloodrool Race of the Sunless Realm.

The Bloodrool Race fell under the humanoid undead species. Like the Snow Elves, Snow Goblins, and Froslings, the Bloodrool Race was very similar to the human race, with hypnotic beauty and a tall, lean build. The differences were their prominent fangs, crimson, emotionless eyes, and cold, pale, tough skin that didn’t age, as if it were made of white marble. Some lower breeds were shorter, with hideous features, pointed ears, and button noses, and their crimson eyes weren’t emotionless; they showed a thirst for blood.

The Bloodrool Race was one of the sentient species of the Sunless Realm, while all other sentient species were either domesticated or massacred to extinction by the Bloodrool Race.

The Bloodrool Race had a very high affinity for blood, as their staple food was the freshly drawn, warm blood of their prey. They loved to drink the blood of sentient prey so they could enjoy the emotions of their prey through their blood, as they themselves were emotionless, with their entire anatomy as if frozen in time, ageless.

The Bloodrool Race had a Title Demon Core that gave them immunity to Blood Rule contamination. This meant they could comprehend the Blood Rule of any realm just as they could drink the blood of any being, allowing them to suck out and steal the Blood Rule comprehension of their prey through their blood.

Meanwhile, their Unholy Core allowed them to directly feed on the Celestial Blood Rule Stream and digest Celestial Will Fragments faster and more efficiently, increasing their talent in the Blood Rule to new heights. With the abilities they gained from their Title Demon Core combined with those they gained from their Unholy Core, they could directly feed on the Blood Rule Stream of any Celestial.

As such, they were among the True Ruler-Class species whose infants could achieve the Ruler-Class Realm right after birth, provided the right conditions were met.

Their one flaw was that they could not procreate at the average rate of other species across the Myriad Realms, making it difficult for them to give birth to young ones. However, the males and females of their species had no trouble producing hybrids with other races, allowing them to procreate at the average rate of other species across the Myriad Realms.

Hence, the Sunless Realm was populated mostly by hybrids, the commoners of the Sunless Realm, and governed by the pure-blooded Bloodrools, who made up its royalty and nobility.

However, unlike the pure-blooded Bloodrools, the hybrids could not control their bloodlust, and their Title Demon Core didn’t grant them immunity to Blood Rule contamination. Instead, they were granted the ability to wield their Blood Rule to contaminate the blood and Blood Rule of others, with the exception of pure-blooded Bloodrools.

The hybrids could still drink the contaminated blood of their victims to deal with their hunger. Their victims were helpless against their blood contamination because if they were to use their Blood Rule to fight the contamination of their blood, their Blood Rule would get contaminated too. Not to forget the gifts they inherited from their non-Bloodrool parents. As such, they were one of the most feared armies in the Myriad Realms.

Initially, when the Sunless Realm was discovered by a Devil Merchant and submitted for evaluation by the Demon Merchant Code, the Code didn’t waste any time inviting the Bloodrools to join them, and the Bloodrools readily agreed, as the services the Demon Merchant Code offered were invaluable to them.

Like the inter-realm travel that allowed them to travel to different realms and feed on their Celestial Blood Rule Streams. The inter-realm markets where even Celestial Will Fragments were traded and sold in bulk.

Not to mention access to the biggest slave market in the Myriad Realms. It not only gave them a continuous source of high-quality, new, and fresh blood food but also new species to procreate with and add to the numbers of their hybrid army.

Unlike the other Ancient, True Ruler-Class races, the Bloodrool Race not only gained a new way of life but was also believed to be the true royalty of the Myriad Realms, mostly because of the bloodline oppression that created a natural hierarchy among their ranks: the Progenitor Bloodline, the pure-bloods, followed by the hybrids, whose bloodlines were diluted with every generation.

Their racial bloodline oppression was like destiny, and the only way one could escape it was if everyone with a higher bloodline than them magically died or they were granted a higher bloodline by those above them.

This mechanism not only made them loyal but also ambitious. They were loyal because of the bloodline oppression, and they were ambitious because they were eager to prove themselves to their masters and be granted a higher bloodline.

Having a higher bloodline came with two crucial benefits for the hybrids:

i) They could use their higher bloodline to oppress those with a lower bloodline. This gave them the feeling that they were part of the noble and royal system, which made them more docile and loyal while also making them aggressively ambitious.

ii) It increased their affinity with the blood rule and their overall strength. It was even believed that if a hybrid were to be granted the blood of the progenitor, they could become pure-blood. So, instead of pursuing transcendence, they pursued becoming pure-blood, as they were already the strongest in the myriad realms.

The more I learned about the Bloodrool race, the more I feared their mastery over the blood rule. Through the bloodline hierarchy built upon it, they had created an army that was fiercely loyal, willing to lay down its lives for them, yet ambitious enough to die believing it was fighting for its own rise toward pure blood.
