Listening to Teacher Liang, Li Qian unconsciously found his gaze drawn to the opening in the ruins.
"Should we go in and take a look?" Li Qian asked after a moment’s thought, pointing at the gap.
All the canine Pet Beasts had fled. Li Qian figured it wasn’t that dangerous inside anymore.
"That makes sense. Better to go inside and take a look than to just wait around," Teacher Liang mused, then nodded.
Most importantly, the stillness of the cavern leading to the Earth Palace told her that the temporary Dimensional Rift that had opened underground had likely already closed.
It was highly probable that there was no danger underground now.
"I’ll go down first and take a look." To be safe, however, she added cautiously.
The moment she finished speaking, she wasted no time. With a flash, her figure vanished into the opening in the ruins.
Li Qian watched her go. He wanted to follow, but he held himself back, waiting for confirmation that it was safe.
He stood rooted to the spot, waiting for word from Teacher Liang.
About ten minutes later, a voice suddenly echoed in Li Qian’s ear. "You can come in now. It’s not dangerous!"
Hearing this, Li Qian didn’t hesitate for a second. He immediately stepped forward and entered the underground cavern.
’I wonder what exactly happened down here?’ he muttered to himself before starting down the passage.
A flashlight had appeared in his hand at some point, and he ventured deeper, guided by its beam.
After walking for about two or three minutes, the view ahead suddenly opened up. The ground was scattered with Fluorite Crystals.
Li Qian glanced around and immediately recognized where he was: the former Earth Palace.
"Over here!" A figure was standing inside the Earth Palace, at the location of what used to be Stone Chamber Number One.
It was Teacher Liang.
"Teacher Liang!" Seeing her standing in the stone chamber, Li Qian quickly walked over.
Upon entering the stone chamber, Li Qian scanned his surroundings. He found that the room hadn’t been significantly affected; it looked almost the same as it did before the Earth Palace’s collapse.
’What’s this?’ On second thought, there was a change. Soon after entering, Li Qian noticed something was off.
An Array Map—a very clear and distinct one—had appeared on the floor.
Li Qian was absolutely certain this Array Map hadn’t been there before. He was seeing it for the first time.
"This is a Sealing Array," Teacher Liang said, looking down at the Array Map on the floor.
"A Sealing Array? What does it seal?" Li Qian asked reflexively, but the moment the words were out, the answer dawned on him.
The Saint Spirit Level Demon Realm Three-headed Dog, all those canine Pet Beasts—where had they come from? Unquestionably, there had to be a Dimensional Rift. Combining that with Teacher Liang’s mention of a Sealing Array, the answer was practically screaming at him.
"A Dimensional Rift!" he exclaimed, the realization hitting him.
Teacher Liang nodded.
"If this Array is activated, does that mean..." Li Qian began, voicing his suspicion.
Teacher Liang didn’t hide the truth. "Yes, it’s just as you suspect."
"If this Array is activated, the seal will loosen, or even vanish, and the Dimensional Rift will reveal itself."
Li Qian followed her train of thought. "So that’s how all those canine Pet Beasts got here, right?"
Teacher Liang nodded.
"So how do you activate this Array?" Li Qian asked.
Teacher Liang didn’t answer directly. Instead, she prompted him, "Think about it. How was it activated last time?"
At her reminder, Li Qian’s mind raced. A sudden realization struck him like a bolt of lightning. "The Night Dog’s blood?"
It was the only thing he could think of that was related to the Array’s activation.
The Night Dog from Liuqing Garden had left only one trace in this stone chamber: blood. It had been led away by a Guard right after coughing it up.
Teacher Liang said, "To be precise, it’s Energy."
As she spoke, she snapped her fingers. Beside her, the Time Spirit began to emit a faint glow.
"What’s...?" As the faint glow appeared, Li Qian noticed that the Array Map on the ground had also begun to flicker.
"I just had the Time Spirit infuse it with a tiny bit of Energy, and the Array Map reacted. If we were to increase the Energy input, the Array would fully activate."
"Then why don’t you activate it?" Li Qian asked. "I don’t think there would be any danger, even if we activated the Sealing Array now."
"You’ve got some nerve," Teacher Liang said with a wry shake of her head.
She looked at Li Qian and explained her concerns. "Theoretically, you’re right, the danger should be minimal. But with something like this, you can never be one hundred percent sure."
"Most importantly, even if it looks safe, I can’t go in."
Li Qian understood her reasoning. If she went in and the Demon Realm Three-headed Dog attacked again, Captain Hao and Teacher Yang alone might not be able to hold it off.
"I can go in and check," Li Qian suggested after a moment of thought. "Maybe I can find another solution."
"Absolutely not!"
Hearing his suggestion, Teacher Liang shot it down without a moment’s hesitation.
