Chapter 460 - 428: Stirred Up the Dog’s Nest
Chapter 460: Chapter 428: Stirred Up the Dog’s Nest
The three of them stared grimly, their expressions grave, at the dense swarm of canine Pet Beasts pouring out.
They each sent out a Pet Beast—three in total—to intercept the canine creatures. Despite having a Level advantage, they were simply too outnumbered.
As a result, it was impossible to stop them all.
Teacher Yang regrouped with Teacher Liang and Captain Hao while directing his Pet Beast to fight the giant creature.
Once they were together, he said with a look of resignation, "It’s no use. There are too many Pet Beasts. With just the three of us, and having to deal with this giant as well, we can’t possibly stop them all."
"Now, all we can do is leave it to fate."
Teacher Liang was just as exasperated. With so many canine Pet Beasts getting past them, a good number were bound to reach Li Qian and the others.
After a moment of thought, her gaze sharpened, and she said with conviction, "But I believe they can handle it!"
Captain Hao voiced his confusion. "I don’t get it. Why would a deeper Dimensional Rift appear inside the Earth Palace? And how did it spit out a monster this huge?"
Teacher Liang pointed to the giant canine Pet Beast their pets were surrounding, then glanced at the chasm in the ground. "I have a theory," she said, "but with the Earth Palace collapsed, we’ll have to deal with this giant first before we can prove anything."
Teacher Yang nodded at her words, though his tone was still tinged with worry. "Right now, I’m more worried about the kids."
Teacher Liang exhaled. "Don’t worry too much," she said, revealing some information about Irina. "The girl with Li Qian is Teacher Han Ke’s daughter. She’s already reached Dominator Level, so she should have no problem protecting herself."
Meanwhile, while Teacher Liang’s trio was tied up with the giant canine Pet Beast, Li Qian and the others had already set up camp about a hundred li from Luoying City.
Once they were settled, the students immediately took out the medical supplies they were carrying. Some treated their own wounds, while others administered aid to the more seriously injured.
They all carried at least some emergency medical supplies for these training excursions.
Li Qian and his two companions joined five other lightly injured students, forming an eight-person squad to stand guard and ensure the group’s safety.
About half an hour later, looking at the Thorn Dog lying on the ground, a boy named Guo Ruiqi couldn’t help but crack, "Did we kick the world’s biggest dog kennel or what?"
This was already the fifth canine Pet Beast they had encountered since escaping Luoying City.
These canine Pet Beasts were silent, attacking humans on sight—a perfect example of the saying, "the dogs that bite don’t bark."
Though they had managed to stop all these canine Pet Beasts, Li Qian was still growing frustrated. ’It’s just one thing after another.’
’This training excursion has been a complete disaster.’
On top of that, Luoying City was strange. The whole city was filled with feline Pet Beast motifs, yet canine Pet Beasts were the ones that had poured out of the Earth Palace.
Yes, by now, Li Qian had guessed that these canine Pet Beasts had, in all likelihood, come from the Earth Palace.
Time passed slowly. Three hours went by, during which they had fought off and defeated a great number of canine Pet Beasts.
All told, there must have been about twenty of them.
Once the attacks began to die down, Bai Bingbing murmured worriedly to herself, "I wonder how things are going over there..."
"I’ll go take a look," Li Qian suggested after hearing Bai Bingbing’s worried murmur and thinking for a moment.
"I’ll go too," Bai Bingbing added instinctively. She was genuinely worried about the situation in the city.
When Irina saw Li Qian and Bai Bingbing preparing to return to Luoying City to investigate, she spoke up without a second thought. "I’m going too."
"Senior Sister Yilina, you should stay here. You’re needed," Li Qian said, looking at her and shaking his head. "We’re not that far from Luoying City. We shouldn’t run into any danger, and even if we do, we can get back here in no time."
Irina wanted to say more, but seeing Li Qian’s determined gaze, she couldn’t help but nod.
It wasn’t until she saw Li Qian and Bai Bingbing mount Qizai and fly off into the sky that she let out a soft sigh, a knot forming in her chest.
The two of them flew high into the air. The hundred-li journey didn’t take long. When Li Qian saw that the sounds of battle had ceased, his heart suddenly clenched.
"Come on down," Teacher Liang called out coolly, looking up at the sky from amidst the ruins of what was once a temple complex.
Her voice reached Li Qian’s ears at that very same moment.
A look of joy crossed Li Qian’s face when he heard her voice. He immediately had Qizai spiral down. The moment they landed, he asked, "Teacher Liang, Teacher Yang, Captain Hao, what’s the situation?"
"It got away," Teacher Liang said, her voice tinged with regret. She pointed to a wide path carved through the rubble, as if something massive had plowed through. "We couldn’t kill it. It remains a huge, lingering threat."
Teacher Yang smiled and walked over to Li Qian. "For three Emperor Level Beast Masters like us to repel a Saint Spirit Level Demon Realm Three-headed Dog is already impressive enough."
Li Qian nodded. What Teacher Yang said made sense. Feeling a bit lost, he asked, "So, what do we do now?"
"We dig in and defend," Captain Hao said with a hint of resignation, surveying their surroundings.
Teacher Liang and Teacher Yang both nodded in agreement with his suggestion.
Li Qian voiced his concern. "But a lot of Adventurers left Luoying City to train outside the walls. If we just ignore them..."
Teacher Liang sighed. "We have no choice. The three of us combined could only fight that beast to a standstill. So from now on, we have to stick together. Splitting up would be even more dangerous."
Teacher Yang thought for a moment and offered his own idea. "We could set up a large signal transmission station in Luoying City and see if we can contact the other Adventurers through their wristbands."
"That could work," Teacher Liang said. "Let’s hurry and contact all the Beast Masters who have Mechanical Element Pet Beasts. We need to get that signal tower built as soon as possible."
After confirming the situation with Teacher Liang, Teacher Yang, and Captain Hao, Li Qian wasted no time. He quickly returned to the students’ temporary camp and filled them in.
Not long after, all the students and the remaining guards returned to Luoying City and began to set up camp under the protection of the two teachers and Captain Hao.
All they could do now was wait quietly for the spatial Vortex to subside.
Taking advantage of a spare moment, Li Qian found Teacher Liang alone and asked, "Teacher Liang, what on earth is going on?"
Teacher Liang didn’t hold back, sharing her theory directly. "Do you remember that Night Dog from Liuqing Garden? It’s highly likely that it’s the cause of all this..."
Li Qian spat. "Damn! That thing is a real menace!"
