Apocalypse Rebirth: Crazy from Day One

Chapter 520 - 529: I Want Your Sanctyr Base

Chapter 520: Chapter 529: I Want Your Sanctyr Base

The moment he spoke, the leaders of the smaller surrounding factions were already stunned.

They never expected Miles Sanctus to take such an attitude.

They had assumed their boss would be eager to slice the woman before him into a thousand pieces, to deal with her at the first possible moment.

But he didn’t do that. He actually swallowed his anger and asked what her conditions were. Did this mean he was preparing to bow his head to her?

The people of Sanctyr Base were known for their domineering ways throughout Veridia, and even their leader, Miles Sanctus, was famously imperious.

No one dared to cross him.

But now, even after being attacked right on his own doorstep, he was somehow managing to hold back.

It was simply astounding.

Yet, despite Miles Sanctus’s actions, no one dared to underestimate him.

They had witnessed the might of Sanctyr Base and the capabilities of Miles Sanctus countless times over the past few years, so they wouldn’t start doubting him now.

Nor would they underestimate him and fall under the delusion that he was nothing special, that they too could challenge his authority.

After all, it wasn’t as if no one had tried that before, but that person—and the faction behind them—had met a miserable end.

Those painful lessons were deeply etched into their minds; they didn’t dare entertain the slightest thought of disrespecting Miles Sanctus.

They knew their own limits, after all, and just how wide the gap was between their strength and that of Sanctyr Base.

If they dared try anything, the fate of those who came before would befall them as well.

They were simply shocked that Miles Sanctus’s attitude was what it was.

The strength of Sanctyr Base was beyond question. For Miles Sanctus to act this way, it could only mean that the woman before him was no simple character either.

It was even likely that the faction behind her was also formidable—at least on par with Sanctyr Base. That would explain why Miles Sanctus was being so cautious.

This made everyone intensely curious. Where on earth had this woman come from? Why had they never seen her before?

’Could she be from one of the other major bases? Are they planning to attack Sanctyr Base?’

The fallout from a war between two major bases would be immense.

And yet, they hadn’t heard a single word about it beforehand. It was truly strange.

But it wasn’t just them who were in the dark. Judging by Miles Sanctus’s surprised expression, it was clear he didn’t know either.

’Who knows how long this group has been plotting in secret? How many people did they bring this time? Where are they hiding?’

The thought that those attacking Sanctyr Base might be lurking right beside them made everyone feel deeply uneasy.

’Who knew who was standing next to you? Even though we’re not part of Sanctyr Base, we’re affiliated with it. What if these people decide to attack us, too?’

Anyone who could challenge Sanctyr Base was far beyond what they could handle.

’If I’d known this was going to happen, I would have done anything to get out of coming here today. I shouldn’t have come at all.’

Now they could easily get caught in the crossfire. And having witnessed Sanctyr Base being humiliated like this, who knew if Miles Sanctus would take his anger out on them later and settle the score?

"You jest, Boss Saint. I was clearly bringing you a surprise."

Stella Sterling raised an eyebrow, a mocking expression on her face as she spoke.

Miles Sanctus grew agitated upon hearing the reports that all sorts of things had gone missing.

He tried to console himself with the thought that they couldn’t possibly have moved everything without a sound—it was probably just a false report.

But until he could confirm it, a sense of unease gnawed at him.

His mood was now utterly foul. Ordinarily, he might have been willing to play along with Stella Sterling, perhaps even trade a few jokes.

But now, his patience was completely gone, and he blurted out, "Stop fucking around with me. You’ve made such a huge mess today. What the hell do you want?"

He was, in fact, quite taken with Stella Sterling. She was beautiful and capable, and she had the backing of a major power like Caeluna Base.

If possible, he didn’t want to make an open enemy of her. He had even planned to win her over and, step by step, seize control of the power she commanded.

He had thought he would have plenty of patience with Stella Sterling to achieve this goal.

But he could not ignore what Stella Sterling had done today.

She had wrecked his base. Rebuilding it would require an unknown amount of materials, and things weren’t like they used to be; it was questionable whether he could even gather them all.

Even if it was possible, it would still drain a significant amount of his manpower and resources.

And she had done it in front of so many people. Stella Sterling had taken Sanctyr Base’s reputation, thrown it on the ground, and stomped on it repeatedly. ’I can’t tolerate this for a second longer.’

Hearing his displeased tone, Stella Sterling remained perfectly composed, even offering him some mock-sincere advice. "Let’s talk this out. You mustn’t get angry. It’s bad for your health. You have such a huge enterprise to look after, Boss Saint. What would happen if your body gave out from all that anger?"

Of course, Miles Sanctus wasn’t going to let himself be provoked by a few words, but he was already extremely irritable today and had no patience left for games. He waved his hand dismissively. "Stella Sterling, just be straight with me. What do you want?"

Even as he spoke, he shot a meaningful glance at one of his men.

The man slipped away unnoticed.

After what Stella Sterling had pulled, he had no intention of letting her and her people just walk away. He was determined to capture them.

Otherwise, Sanctyr Base would lose all face. As for Stella Sterling, he would no longer bother trying to win her over.

’From the looks of it, she’s determined to oppose me and Sanctyr Base. Under these circumstances, no matter how well I treat her, I’ll never win her over.’

’The path I chose before won’t work!’

’Then I’ll just have to try a different approach. So what if it means a direct confrontation with Stella Sterling? I’m not afraid of her.’

’I wanted to take my time, but it seems she’s in more of a hurry than I am.’

"Alright, since Boss Saint put it that way, I’ll be direct. I’ve taken a liking to this Sanctyr Base of yours. How about you hand over your position as leader to me? I’ll be the new boss!"

As she spoke, Stella Sterling seemed to think her own proposal was brilliant. She clapped her hands excitedly. "See? If I become the leader of your base, then everything is solved. We won’t have to cross blades. Isn’t that great?"

"I’m just so considerate, aren’t I? Look how much I’m thinking about all of you. So, what do you say, Miles Sanctus? It’s a good proposal, right? Just hand over your base to me, and we can put an end to all this today."
