Chapter 519 - 528: Great Chaos
Chapter 519: Chapter 528: Great Chaos
The Miss Sterling before them now was a completely different person. Her appearance was nothing like it had been when she was at their base.
That was why no one knew what connection the Three Tigers Corps had with the woman who had just forced her way into Sanctyr Base.
Even Mutt, who had dealt with her before, couldn’t recognize her.
Therefore, they had no connection whatsoever with this invader, Miss Sterling. Whatever she did had nothing to do with them.
Even Zane Xavier himself wouldn’t dare rush forward and declare he was one of Miss Sterling’s people.
So no matter how today’s events unfolded, it really had nothing to do with them.
Of course, that was on the condition that they wouldn’t side with Sanctyr Base and help deal with Miss Sterling.
At this thought, Hunter Night’s expression eased.
’I misunderstood them in my panic. It seems Miss Sterling and Brother Xavier have no intention of dragging us down with them.’
’It’s all just a coincidence!’
’Otherwise, Miss Sterling wouldn’t have needed to show up in disguise. She probably did it because she didn’t want to get the Three Tigers Corps involved.’
His expression finally softened. He lowered his voice and said, "My apologies."
Zane Xavier shook his head. "No need to apologize. I understand how you feel."
If he were in the same position, his reaction might have been even more extreme.
Zane Xavier felt a sense of helplessness. ’The thing is, I had no idea Miss Sterling was going to pull something this big today. If I’d known, I never would have come with the Three Tigers Corps.’
"This is hardly a pleasant surprise. It’s a nasty shock. Miss Sterling, you’ve gone a bit too far!"
Miles Sanctus looked at Sarah Sterling. Although he wore a smile, his voice dropped to a low growl.
’Stella Sterling is clearly here to cause trouble.’
’But he didn’t get it. His base and Caeluna Base had no feud. In fact, ever since he’d first met Stella Sterling, his own attitude toward her had always been rather friendly.’
’So even if she disliked him, there was no reason to go this far.’
’This was tantamount to a complete declaration of war against his Sanctyr Base. Did she know what it meant for two bases to go to war?’
’Most importantly, this was all happening on his home turf. Caeluna Base’s main headquarters wasn’t even here.’
’An approach like this wasn’t to Stella Sterling’s own advantage, yet she did it anyway. He couldn’t figure her out.’
’Even if she wanted to take on Sanctyr Base, shouldn’t she be doing it from the shadows? But no, here she was, brazenly appearing right in front of him.’
’Wasn’t this a little too reckless?’
’Could it be that Stella Sterling had some trump card that made her arrogant enough to completely disregard his Sanctyr Base?’
Miles Sanctus unconsciously toyed with his fingers, the air around him growing heavy.
The leaders of the smaller factions gathered around them didn’t dare to say a word.
At a time like this, whoever spoke up first would be the unlucky one.
"Have I gone too far? It looks like Boss Saint isn’t a fan of my gift. But what’s a girl to do? I still have an even bigger surprise for you."
Just as Miles Sanctus was about to speak, several people came running over.
Their faces were masks of panic and desperation.
Even seeing the shocking scene before them, they couldn’t afford to be distracted. As soon as they saw Miles Sanctus, they all scrambled toward him.
"Boss, bad news! All our food supplies have vanished!"
"Boss, bad news! All the base’s power systems are down!"
"Boss, bad news! All of our weapons are gone!"
"Boss, bad news! The lab’s data and all its specimens are gone!""
The voices all cried out at nearly the same time.
Then, they stared at each other in stunned disbelief.
The voices had been a jumbled mess, but they had all clearly heard what the others were saying.
’So the problem wasn’t just in one place?’
The chorus of "Bad news, Boss!" sent Miles Sanctus’s head spinning.
He began to wonder if he was dreaming. Otherwise, how could everything go so wrong all at once?
He roared, "Shut up! What the hell is going on? Everything was fine, how could it all suddenly disappear!"
Meanwhile, the leaders of the smaller factions exchanged glances, and each could see the shock mirrored in the others’ eyes.
’Sanctyr Base is in deep trouble,’ they thought. ’One problem after another.’
’More importantly, no one in Sanctyr Base had noticed anything amiss before all these problems erupted. That was the most disturbing part.’
’Who in the world had this kind of power? To throw Sanctyr Base into chaos and now, to make off with all their weapons, food, and experimental data.’
’This time, even if Sanctyr Base managed to capture the troublemakers, the base itself would be crippled.’
Faced with Miles Sanctus’s aggressive questioning, the men were rendered speechless.
In their hearts, they were just as dumbfounded.
They didn’t know what had happened either. They had checked on all those things just a short while ago, and everything had been there, perfectly intact. But in a brief instant, so much had suddenly vanished, as if they were seeing ghosts.
’But could we say that? If we did, we’d probably become ghosts ourselves!’
Miles Sanctus could no longer remain calm. His breathing grew shallow and rapid.
These events were far beyond anything he had anticipated.
He then turned to look at Stella Sterling.
’This can’t be a coincidence. For all these things to happen the moment she starts making trouble... it must be connected to the Stella Sterling standing before me.’
’But how on earth did she do it? How did she make so many things just disappear?’
’Even if she’d brought a huge crew, it’s impossible that no one at Sanctyr Base would have noticed anything.’
’The commotion from just transporting all those supplies would have been immense.’
’And yet, the reality was that they had somehow moved everything out without a single soul noticing.’
’How was it possible to accomplish that so silently?’
’It would be impossible, even with a mole on the inside coordinating with them.’
’This is simply impossible!’
Miles Sanctus quickly calmed himself. ’Perhaps this is all a ruse. The supplies are still there, and these men were sent just to rattle me.’
’It’s highly likely that Stella Sterling bought these men off and they’ve defected to her side.’
At this thought, Miles Sanctus’s gaze turned cold as he looked at them.
He pulled out his gun and, with a few quick shots, eliminated all of them.
Until the moment they died, none of the men understood why their boss had suddenly opened fire on them.
Having dealt with them, Miles Sanctus calmly looked over at Stella Sterling. "Alright, Stella Sterling. You’ve made your big scene. What is it you want? State your terms."
