Chapter 503 - 512: Black Swan and the Others Have Arrived
Chapter 503: Chapter 512: Black Swan and the Others Have Arrived
Felix Lawrence wanted to say something more.
But Stella Sterling was already walking into the distance. She moved so fast he didn’t even have time to react.
In the blink of an eye, she had vanished completely.
He rubbed his eyes and said in astonishment, "Is Miss Sterling really that fast? And... I feel like she’s even stronger now than she was two years ago!"
He had worked with Miss Sterling before and had seen her in action.
She was formidable back then, but at the time, he felt he wasn’t far behind. If they were to fight to the death, it would have been hard to say who would win.
He felt that he and Miss Sterling were on the same level of strength back then.
But after meeting her this time, he could sense that Miss Sterling had become much, much stronger.
Her skills were far more unpredictable than before; she felt unfathomably deep.
If his past self could have at least traded a few blows with her, his current self was no match for her at all.
He couldn’t even begin to gauge the true extent of her power!
The gap between them was growing wider and wider, on every level.
He shook his head, but his eyes held no disappointment, only excitement.
’A woman as powerful as Miss Sterling is willing to be friends with me. I’m truly honored.’
Seeing that Stella Sterling had completely vanished from sight, Felix Lawrence turned and walked toward his men.
His subordinates breathed a collective sigh of relief when they saw the powerful woman leave.
She had only exchanged a few words with Lawrence and hadn’t attacked them, which allowed them to finally relax.
When they saw Felix Lawrence approaching, they all crowded around him and said excitedly, "Lawrence, who was that beautiful woman? She’s incredible! When did you meet someone so powerful?"
Although she had a handy weapon, her ability to take out so many people in an instant was still incredibly strong.
If it were them, they probably couldn’t have achieved the same result even with guns.
And the fact that Lawrence could be acquainted with such a person meant that he, too, was a big deal.
Felix Lawrence waved a dismissive hand at them. "Go on, go on. Don’t ask so many questions. You’ll know what you need to know when the time is right. As for what happened today, none of you are to speak of it to anyone. It’s best if you act like you saw nothing."
Seeing that Felix Lawrence’s expression was dead serious, his men straightened up and nodded solemnly. "Got it, Lawrence. We won’t say a single word to anyone!"
’That woman’s identity must be extraordinary. And she’s so powerful, we wouldn’t dare run our mouths and risk offending her.’
’Besides, she did us a favor.’
Having been with these brothers for so long, Felix Lawrence trusted them.
He saw that his words had made the atmosphere a little tense.
To lighten the mood, he relaxed his expression and grinned. "Alright, everyone, cheer up! We’ve got work to do!"
"Those guys dared to come after us, so they’d better be ready for our payback. They’re short-handed now after losing so many men, and I seem to recall they got a decent share of supplies today..."
Hearing this, his brothers’ eyes lit up. They knew what Lawrence was planning, and a wave of excitement washed over them. They got back to work with much more energy than before.
Stella Sterling had no intention of getting involved in whatever Felix Lawrence and his men planned to do next. She had already helped enough. The rest was up to them.
Everyone has their own path to walk. It was fine to lend a hand now and then, but meddling too much in someone else’s life wasn’t necessarily a good thing for them.
’One should walk their own path.’ She, too, had her own path to follow.
As Stella Sterling traveled, a glint of excitement flashed in her eyes.
She could feel Black Swan and the others getting closer and closer.
She had a special connection with those who had taken the Loyal Servant Pill, a sense that allowed her to find them.
Before, the connection had been faint due to the great distance between them.
But just a moment ago, she could feel that the connection between her and Black Swan had grown much stronger.
This meant that Black Swan and her group had arrived near Veridia.
’They’re coming. That means I can finally let loose and have some fun.’
Stella Sterling headed in the direction of the connection.
「Meanwhile」
Black Swan, who was resting in a clearing not far away, suddenly frowned in confusion.
For some reason, she felt a subtle pull, as if someone was guiding her in a certain direction.
Her gaze swept across her surroundings.
In the distance were the people from Caeluna Base who had come with her and Seven Locke. Right now, everyone looked a bit worse for wear.
They had run into a lot of trouble since leaving Caeluna Base.
The conditions on the road were much worse than they had imagined.
They had faced dangers and poor road conditions, forcing them to take detours.
They had lost a lot of time, and the food they had brought from the base was already gone.
Since then, they had survived by foraging for their own food.
Fortunately, their current abilities were anything but ordinary. Thanks to extensive training in Aethelgard, their strength had increased dramatically back at Caeluna Base, so minor difficulties and dangers were hardly a challenge.
Thus, despite the scares, they had made it here without any real harm.
Black Swan looked at the hand-drawn map in her hands. ’If I’m not mistaken, we should be near Veridia. We’re almost there.’
’I wonder how the Master is doing. Has she arrived yet?’
She sighed and walked toward Seven Locke, intending to discuss their next move.
But at that moment, the guiding sensation in her mind grew stronger, becoming impossible to ignore.
She walked up to Seven Locke and said, "You all wait here for a bit. I have to take care of something!"
Without waiting for Engineer Locke’s reply, she was already striding away.
Black Swan’s urgency puzzled Seven Locke. She was about to ask what was wrong, but the other woman had already rushed away.
Looking at the others from Caeluna Base who remained, Seven Locke frowned but stayed put.
After spending all this time together, she had come to completely trust Black Swan, who was once her enemy.
She knew Black Swan wasn’t an impulsive person; she must have a good reason for acting so suddenly. ’I’ll just wait for now.’
Most importantly, with Black Swan gone, she was the other person in charge and couldn’t just leave as well.
