Chapter 454 - 465: A Self-righteous Analysis
Chapter 454: Chapter 465: A Self-righteous Analysis
Although Selene Larkin hadn’t finished speaking, River Larkin understood what she meant.
Miles Sanctus didn’t truly love Stella Sterling; he just wanted to use her.
If it was just about using her, then once Boss Saint got what he wanted, he would surely stop being as accommodating toward Stella Sterling as he was now.
And at that point, Selene Larkin was Noon Sanctus’s right-hand woman.
When the time came to get revenge on Stella Sterling, Miles Sanctus might very well agree to it.
Of course, all this was predicated on him being able to win over Stella Sterling and, by extension, gain control of the forces backing her.
’That’s certainly a possibility.’
It was more or less what he had thought before: if Stella Sterling was only relying on Miles Sanctus’s affection, her arrogance wouldn’t last long.
He didn’t believe Miles Sanctus could maintain his affection for Stella Sterling for long. Once that affection faded, she would have no one left to support her.
That was indeed what he used to think, but now, he wasn’t so sure.
Miles Sanctus was certainly capable, but could he really win over Stella Sterling?
’For some reason, I feel like the chances are slim!’
Stella Sterling was no ordinary woman.
She was capable in her own right, and she was now in charge of a major base.
To become the leader of a major base in such a short amount of time, Stella Sterling’s mind couldn’t possibly be simple.
Besides, he had discovered back at the residential complex that Stella Sterling was a ruthless person.
She was always resolute, always knew what she wanted. When it came to those with malicious intentions toward her, she was utterly merciless.
How could a woman like that be easily manipulated by some man?
’Isn’t Miles Sanctus now just a reflection of myself back then?’
’Besides, back then, even though I wasn’t as powerful as Miles Sanctus is now, I still did everything I could to curry favor with Stella Sterling.’
’But Stella Sterling was completely unmoved. She even wanted to kill me.’
’How could a woman with a heart of stone like her fall for Miles Sanctus just because of a little flattery?’
If Stella Sterling had no power of her own, it might have been possible. But she did have her own strength, which was in no way inferior to this base’s.
So in his view, Miles Sanctus’s plan was probably unworkable.
Any other woman would have surely been touched by his efforts.
But Stella Sterling was different.
’I just hope it doesn’t end with Miles Sanctus failing to use Stella Sterling, only to be used by her instead.’
Thinking about everything that had happened today, wasn’t Stella Sterling already using Miles Sanctus’s affection for her to successfully leave Sanctyr Base?
Therefore, after hearing Selene Larkin’s analysis, River Larkin didn’t feel a sense of relief.
Now that he had calmed down, he was only just realizing what a difficult task getting revenge on Stella Sterling would be.
’Never mind the present, where Miles Sanctus is still trying to win over Stella Sterling. Even if he eventually sided with us, could we really defeat her?’
River Larkin was now very uncertain.
"What, you don’t believe my analysis?"
Seeing the look of disbelief on his face, Selene Larkin asked, somewhat displeased.
River Larkin shook his head. "It’s not that I don’t believe you. Your analysis is spot on, but I just don’t think it will go that smoothly."
Hearing this, Selene Larkin shook her head dismissively. "You just don’t believe in my big brother’s abilities. With his skills and his looks, if he sets his mind on pursuing someone, how could he possibly fail?"
"Winning over Stella Sterling is just a matter of time. Once she falls for my big brother, the forces behind her will slowly be dismantled by him."
"At that point, no matter how capable Stella Sterling is, she’ll be completely powerless to resist."
Selene Larkin had immense confidence in Miles Sanctus. Who was her big brother? He was the man who had personally led Sanctyr Base to its current status.
Although he hadn’t founded Sanctyr Base by himself, he had been the one to personally lead it to this point.
She had been among the first to follow him, helping him conquer this territory.
Her big brother was capable, his methods were effective, and his looks were exceptional.
When a man like that set his mind to pursuing someone, what woman could possibly resist!
Besides, from what she saw today, Stella Sterling didn’t reject their boss’s advances. That meant she wasn’t completely uninterested in her big brother.
Even if that affection wasn’t much yet, with her big brother actively trying to win her over, she refused to believe Stella Sterling wouldn’t eventually fall for him.
A little bit of affection could slowly grow into a lot.
And when that time came...
"Let’s hope so."
Hearing her words, River Larkin nodded. He hoped so too.
After all, given the current situation, trying to deal with Stella Sterling on his own was a near-impossible task.
So, even though he wasn’t optimistic about Miles Sanctus’s plan, he had no choice but to verbally agree.
Maybe Stella didn’t like him back then, but it was possible she might fall for Miles Sanctus now. After all, matters of the heart were strange.
But even as he said it, River Larkin didn’t really believe it himself. His words lacked any real conviction.
But seeing how confident Selene Larkin was, he didn’t feel it was his place to say more.
’In truth, rather than relying on Miles Sanctus to win over Stella Sterling, I’m actually hoping for a different outcome.’
He fell silent, his mind replaying an image of Stella Sterling and, beside her, Miles Sanctus. It was hard to say what he was truly thinking.
’Perhaps...’
’...there’s another possibility?’
In his heart, he hoped Miles Sanctus would fail in his pursuit. Then, furious from the humiliation, he would start a fight with Stella Sterling.
A fight between the two of them... that would certainly be a spectacle.
Their power levels were similar. If they fought, it would inevitably lead to mutual destruction. That, perhaps, was when his own opportunity would arise.
He hated Stella Sterling and wanted to take revenge on her.
But after today, Miles Sanctus had been added to the list of people he hated.
If Miles hadn’t forced him, he wouldn’t have had to be so subservient in front of Stella Sterling.
He was supposedly one of Miles Sanctus’s own men, yet the man hadn’t protected him in the slightest.
Instead, he let Stella Sterling humiliate him like that.
He had come to hate Miles Sanctus as well.
If the two of them actually came to blows, now *that* would be a truly satisfying sight.
Then he could just sit back and watch them destroy each other.
’But I don’t know if I’ll ever get such a chance!’
Miles Sanctus was currently focused only on pleasing Stella Sterling, accommodating her to an incredible degree. Seeing them fight would likely be no easy feat.
’It’s probably just wishful thinking.’
But he knew, deep down, that even if it was just a thought, he could never say it aloud to Selene Larkin.
