Chapter 478 - 474: Destruction
Chapter 478: Chapter 474: Destruction
But who was paying any attention to her?
Everyone’s attention was riveted on Song You’ai.
A few Ice Ability Users even shuffled closer to Song You’ai, wanting to get a better look.
The speed of the freeze was unexpectedly fast.
After five minutes, the center of the area was blotted out by massive ice walls.
There were plenty of cracks in between, so air could still circulate.
The most amazing part was that the ice walls were crystal clear. Standing outside, they could clearly see the mixed expressions of terror and shock on the faces of the wild men inside.
The few wild men closest to the ice wall were shouting desperately, kicking out with their legs, which were tied together.
However, aside from making their unfortunate legs even colder, it was completely useless.
The ice walls didn’t budge. With just their physical strength—pounding, kicking, and hammering—it would probably take them a full day and night to break through.
On top of that, their hands and legs had been securely tied beforehand, so they couldn’t break free for now. The only thing they could do was have some people roll over to the ice walls and kick at them randomly, but it had no effect whatsoever.
A group of Ice Ability Users swarmed around Song You’ai, their eyes shining as they looked at her, peppering her with questions. "Auntie, how does this skill of yours work? Does it consume a lot of energy?"
"What rank is it? I’m at the Fourth Rank, and I don’t think I could create such a large ice wall. Auntie, could you share some of your experience?"
Xie Ning fought her way through the crowd, breaking a sweat before she could hand her mother a bottle of miraculous well water.
Song You’ai took a large gulp and felt her internal superpower energy surge, recovering a good amount in an instant.
She gave her daughter a surprised look but didn’t say anything in front of so many people.
"It’s not too bad, not too bad."
"The consumption is quite high," Song You’ai replied to the surrounding youngsters with a cheerful smile. "Don’t be anxious. Once you step into the Fifth Rank, you’ll feel a significant increase in your superpower energy."
"Creating this ice wall probably used up about eighty percent of my superpower energy."
"Wow, only eighty percent!" a young Ice Ability User said with an envious expression. "Auntie, you’re amazing."
Xie Ning was left speechless. She had been squeezed out of the crowd by the group of Superpower Users and could only watch her mother helplessly.
The few Ice Ability Users were laying on the flattery as if it were free, endlessly praising her. With every other word being "Auntie, you’re awesome," you’d think Song You’ai was their own mother...
Xie Ning couldn’t bear to watch.
’But Mom really is amazing,’ she thought.
The ice walls were over ten meters high and even formed a thin roof of ice, essentially trapping these people in a massive, sealed ice arena, completely cut off from the world.
Meanwhile, it was getting a bit chaotic inside the ice walls.
Mainly, some people were trying to roll to the edge to kick the ice walls with their legs, but the crowd was so dense that rolling around inevitably meant bumping into others.
Some of the hot-tempered old guys among them started kicking the butts of anyone who rolled over.
A flurry of random kicks ensued, with no one willing to back down, and it eventually devolved into a free-for-all of kicking, hitting, and biting.
The crowd outside watched with great amusement.
"Auntie, how long can these ice walls hold them? Will it continuously drain your superpower energy?"
"I can guarantee twelve hours," Song You’ai said with great confidence. "Any longer than that, I’m not sure."
"It does continuously consume some superpower energy, but compared to the amount used to create the walls, it’s nothing."
This meant the drain was basically negligible.
"That’s so amazing, Auntie."
"Auntie, can you teach us?"
"Of course. We’re all Ice Ability Users. Don’t talk about teaching; it’s perfectly normal for us to exchange ideas and learn from each other’s experiences."
"Thank you, Auntie!"
"Auntie, let’s add each other as friends!"
"Yeah, yeah! Auntie, add me, add me!"
Gu Chen had wanted to squeeze in and thank Song You’ai, but he was pushed to the outside by a crowd of his teammates and couldn’t get through no matter how hard he tried.
After a speechless glance at the crowd, Gu Chen turned his head and met his girlfriend’s deadpan expression, which made him chuckle.
"Look what I found, a girlfriend just lying on the roadside. Come with me." Gu Chen smiled and took her hand. "Auntie’s Ice Element superpower is just too incredible. Ningning must have been the one guiding her. Ningning is the best, my eternal goddess."
Xie Ning: ...
"All the sweet talk in the world won’t help you. It can’t cover up the fact that you’ve been hiding the truth and haven’t been honest."
Gu Chen blinked, a "what are you talking about, girlfriend?" expression on his face.
"Stop pretending. I’ve already seen through your little trick." Xie Ning shot him a deliberately profound look. "So, spill it. What exactly is that flashy secondary awakened superpower of yours? You’ve hidden it pretty well."
The moment he heard that, Gu Chen’s face twisted into a woeful expression. "Girlfriend, you already know?"
He quickly tightened his grip on her hand. "I really didn’t mean to hide it from you."
"I know. You already went and ’reported’ the situation to Comrade Song You’ai." Xie Ning rolled her eyes. "You’re the slick one. You talked for ages and managed to bamboozle my mom, but what did you actually say? She still doesn’t know a thing."
Her mom was a funny one, too. She had slapped her thigh and told her that Xiao Gu had talked a bunch of nonsense for ages; it seemed like he said everything, but also said nothing at all...
Gu Chen’s eyes curved as he looked at her. "Alright, alright, I’ll confess. I’ll confess everything. But Ningning, you have to swear that you won’t despise me or hate me after I tell you! Okay?"
Torn between laughter and exasperation, Xie Ning looked up and glared at him. "Stop with the slick talk and hurry up and confess."
Gu Chen nodded pitifully. "Okay, I’ll tell you everything."
He pulled her away from the crowd and mumbled in a low voice, "This superpower of mine is really bizarre."
Xie Ning couldn’t help but roll her eyes again. "What now? You trying to use the same trick on me that you used on my mom?"
"How could I!" Gu Chen chuckled, looking down at her. "I could fool anyone, but I could never fool my Ningning."
"Just say it. Don’t try to change the subject."
"My secondary awakened superpower seems very powerful, but it’s actually quite useless. It’s a superpower similar to destruction." Gu Chen’s voice paused. "Wait here a moment."
Xie Ning was pondering the meaning behind Gu Chen’s words.
’A superpower similar to destruction?’
Before long, a young and somewhat familiar-looking man came running toward them.
"Hello, Captain! Hello, Ma’am!" the young man called out crisply.
Xie Ning looked up at him. "You’re the one..."
"Yes, yes, that’s me! Wu Meng, from Traffic Police Unit One."
Xie Ning smiled at him and nodded. "How’s your mastery of the Space Blade coming along?"
Wu Meng rubbed the back of his head, a bit embarrassed. "I’m just getting the hang of it. I still have a lot to learn from you, Ma’am."
The young man was beaming like a flower, but when he saw his captain glaring at him with a serious face, he quickly wiped the flowery expression away and said earnestly, "Captain, I’ll bring it out now."
In the blink of an eye, Wu Meng waved his hand and produced an open-lidded coffin, inside of which lay a zombie.
Even through her scarf and mask, Xie Ning could smell the stench of the corpse. She couldn’t help but glare at her boyfriend.
’What kind of weirdo is he? Keeping a zombie in his Space?’
"Ningning, watch this!"
