Chapter 2050: Exploring The Misty Trench

Chapter 2050: Exploring The Misty Trench

Inside the trench.

Grey looked ahead of him, not taking a step. A few seconds later, the sound of something burrowing through the ground could be heard. A small fluffy white bunny popped up right below Grey’s feet.

Another bunny’s head popped up as well, one that Grey and the others were quite familiar with.

Before they came here, Void contacted the bunny leader, relaying Grey’s order to it. When speaking with the gray-haired beastman about the attack on the Volt Clan, Grey learned the rough estimates of the location of this danger zone, so he sent the bunny leader ahead to help gather information so they would not be clueless. If the gray-haired beastman had refused to lead them here after they attacked the Bolt Clan, they would have still been able to locate it thanks to the bunny leader.

"There are some vile creatures here, you guys should do your best to avoid them. They are quite tricky to handle." The bunny leader warned as soon as he arrived.

Grey’s brows twitched when he heard this, he asked after a short silence, "They are not Seelies?"

The bunny leader shook his head, "No, although you can say they are closely related. They are not the same, merging with them will do anyone more harm than good, if they survive the process, that is."

Hearing the bunny leader’s words, Klaus swallowed heavily with fear. On the way here, all he could think about was merging with a Seelie and developing even greater ice elemental ability. Never did he think just the process of merging might take his life.

"If they are dangerous to us, what benefits are hidden here?" Alice asked. She could sense the presence of something amazing here, so since they already knew what the danger was, she was curious about the treasure.

"I don’t know, the scouts almost lost their lives when they got too close." The bunny leader explained.

Grey rubbed his chin and asked, "Will we be able to reach it?"

The bunny leader nodded in affirmation, "Yes. The only reason I had to tell the scouts to retreat was because the ones with the suitable elements were too weak. If I had any ice elemental bunny equivalent to a Seventh stage Sovereign among my scouts, it would’ve had no issues getting close to the source of the cold."

The source of the cold is the real treasure of this place, and also the reason for the existence of the Seelie-like creatures.

Grey understood what the bunny leader implied by his words, hence he immediately urged the bunny leader to lead them to the area where the source of the cold came from. The bunny leader did as told, and unexpectedly, the direction he was leading them in was the same one the gray-haired beastman had pointed to them earlier too. It would seem that the gray-haired beastman did not dare to betray Grey in any way.

The group walked for a few minutes before they suddenly felt a dip in the temperature. The sudden cold made every single one of them shudder, Klaus included. One has to know that Klaus can be considered one of the top ice elemental users, yet he still found it hard to resist the initial cold.

Being Late stage Sovereigns, they all reacted quickly, urging their essence to deal with the cold invading their bodies. Klaus even went as far as refining the cold energy. When he completely refined all the cold energy in his body, he let out a cold breath that seemed to want to freeze the very fabric of space before he chuckled.

"Such a marvelous feeling."

Hearing Klaus’s comment, Grey attempted to follow the former’s lead. His eyes lit up when he felt how pure the cold energy was. As long as a person could handle the cold, then this place was a cultivation paradise. Of course, this was for only Water Elementalists as well as Ice users. A Fire or Lightning Elementalist would not gain anything if they attempted to refine this energy, and there was also the possibility of them accidentally freezing their cores, or allowing the cold energy to invade it. If an Elementalists’ core is invaded by a foreign energy, it feels almost like being poisoned, and every time the Elementalist calls on their elemental essences, they would only be causing more harm to their cores which might eventually explode from the foreign energy.

Alice, seeing Grey do the same as Klaus, did not hesitate and also refined the cold energy. A pleased smile appeared on her face when the cold energy melted into her body. It gave her such a soothing feeling that she never wanted it to end.

The closer they got to the source of the cold, the colder it became. Even given the short distance they could see, they could all see their cold breaths escaping their lips as they each breathed in and out.

The bunny leader suddenly stopped, making the others stop too.

"What?" Grey inquired.

"One of those creatures is ahead. Should we take a detour or are you interested in it?" The bunny leader asked.

"Oh." Grey was a little taken aback, he looked at the bunny leader and questioned, "Just one?"

He could barely contain his curiosity towards the strange creature, so if the opportunity arose, he did not mind stopping to see it. If possible, he would like to capture one so he could study it properly.

"Yes, but I think they respond to external energy very quickly. So, whatever you plan on doing with it, it needs to be completed within a few breaths, otherwise we’ll be surrounded." The bunny leader spoke after making some quick calculations.

"If that’s the case, then we will all take action at the same time so we can subdue it in the shortest time." Grey said, a hint of expectation could be heard in his voice. The others nodded, they too had the same thoughts of subduing this strange creature. Even though the bunny leader already warned them about merging with it, they still wanted to see it up close.
