Chapter 2037: Obtaining The Core

Chapter 2037: Obtaining The Core

"Head deeper into the cave." Grey said to his friends as he turned around in an attempt to move away from the attacks of the beastpeople.

Just when he was about to leave, he heard a familiar voice roaring in anger. Turning around, he saw Jonas facing two Eighth stage Sovereigns, his body engulfed in flames as he fought with all his might.

’He’s strong, but he is in danger.’

Grey quickly assessed the situation from a single glance. Anyone could see that a Seventh stage Sovereign holding back two Eighth stage Sovereigns was strong. Unfortunately, there were not only two Eighth stage Sovereigns as there were more rushing to attack. As long as Jonas remained there, the chances of him surviving was slim.

Cursing Arthur and Silvan for bringing them into such a place, Grey’s body, covered in lightning, shot straight at Jonas. The duo might not be considered close friends, but they were acquaintances nonetheless, and Grey could not stand back and watch someone who came from the same place as himself die just like that.

Jonas did not expect anyone to come to his aid as he fought, so when he saw a figure clad in lightning coming over to help from the side of his eyes, he was a little shocked. He did not see the face of the figure, but the moment he saw one of the Eighth stage Sovereigns being sent flying, he guessed the identity of the person in an instant. There was only one person he knew who could unleash such an explosive attack that was still close to their group, and it was none other than Grey.

"Thank you." He did not stop fighting with the other Eighth stage Sovereign.

"Run!" Grey almost felt like punching him. They were currently being besieged, and instead of Jonas to take advantage of the opportunity to run, he was thanking him.

’You can thank me when we leave this place.’ Grey thought to himself.

Seeing Grey’s expression, Jonas understood why Grey showed such an expression so he quickly forced back his opponent before rushing into the deeper parts of the cave.

Luckily for them, the cave was not too large, so there was no way for the large beastpeople clan to chase after them. With the limited space, these youths could at least keep their lives, at least the surviving ones.

In the process of saving Jonas, another young man was killed.

Alice, Reynolds, and Klaus left along with Gareth after Grey told them to leave.

Jonas and Grey moved shoulder to shoulder as they escaped. Grey did not use his full speed since he knew he might still be needed to assist Jonas.

Deep in the cave.

In a large, almost three hundred meters radius space, Silvan and Arthur had already engaged in a brawl as they fought for who was going to be the first to take the treasure.

A large figure could be seen by the side, but it was nothing more than mere bones. The aura radiating from the bones is enough to make a chill run down the spine of anyone. Luckily, there was no way for the bones to move. There was also a floating silver orb that had a series of flashes of lightning all over the silver orb.

This was undoubtedly the corpse of the Half God Plane Magical Beast, and the floating orb was its core. This was what they all entered this place for, this was what they wanted, and now, both Silvan and Arthur, the respective leaders of their groups, were locked in a heated battle to try to take the core. Neither of them allowed the other to get the advantage.

As the fight between the two grew fiercer, the sounds of approaching footsteps entered their eyes.

They both turned to look at the opening into the place they were, and as soon as Gareth’s figure came into view, Silvan’s eyes lit up.

"Take the core, I’ll hold him back." He yelled out as he fought with even more vigour.

Arthur’s face went dark at the sight of Gareth. He cursed at the incompetence of his group, knowing the chances of Silvan’s group getting the core was higher now.

Gareth did not dally, after getting the order, he bolted straight for the core.

"You dare?!" Arthur roared ferociously.

"Don’t bother about him, keep your eyes on me." Silvan capitalized on the distraction caused by Gareth’s presence as he landed a blow on Arthur’s figure.

Arthur growled in pain, before exploding out with a powerful strike.

When Silvan sensed the aura, he panicked and retreated.

A cunning smile appeared on Arthur’s face as his strike was never meant to be aimed at Silvan, rather, it was aimed at Gareth who was rushing towards the core.

*Are you mad?!" Silvan cursed, but still went all out to block the attack before it gets to Gareth.

Both Silvan and Arthur were Ninth stage Sovereigns, if they used their strongest attacks, then it would be very easy for them to kill a Seventh stage Sovereign, especially one that was off guard.

Gareth sensed the approaching attack, and turning around, his face paled in fright. He could tell that there was no way he for him to block such an attack.

Just as he was feeling despair, the figure of Silvan appeared in front of the attack as he blocked the strike.

A soft grunt escaped from Silvan’s lips as he was forced to bear a bit of the attack. Since the attack was not directed at him, he did not have the time to properly block it.

While Silvan and Gareth paused momentarily, Arthur did not stop. After unleashing that attack, he darted straight for the treasure. This was all he had his eyes on.

At this moment, the auras of a few people appeared in the opening.

The trio of Alice, Reynolds, and Klaus were the first to appear, before four more belonging to Arthur’s group arrived almost at the same time.

Seeing the situation in the cave, they understood that a tough battle had been ongoing before they arrived.

It had been only a few seconds or so since they entered the cave, yet two intense battles had happened. The one behind them was still happening even, as they could hear the explosion from the attacks.

Silvan did not dare to slack, after blocking the attack, he chased after Arthur’s figure, blocking him just in time before he could get his hands on the treasure.

Arthur was annoyed with the fact that Silvan stopped him just when he was about to collect the core. Sending out a palm strike, he tried to force Silvan back to ensure he got the core.

Silvan would naturally not give him that chance. He met Arthur’s palm strike with one of his own. Both individuals were eventually matched, so it was safe to say that there was no way any of them would be getting the advantage over the other unless they were careless. In a situation like this, that happening was almost impossible.

Both Silvan and Arthur ordered their groups to try to collect the core.

This made both parties start a battle immediately.

The entire cave was quickly thrown into chaos as every single person was locked in a serious battle. Of course, none of them were trying to kill the other as they knew that was not something they should do. Other than the fact that there were beastpeople coming here to attack them, there was also an ongoing war taking place in their world, and they needed as many people as they could have.

Grey and Jonas soon arrived, and the moment Grey saw what was happening, he took a glance at Jonas before darting off.

’Bastard.’ Jonas cursed, but still chased after Grey. How could he not tell what Grey wanted to do?

They were both on opposing teams, and even though they fought side by side a few moments ago, currently, acquiring the core came first. Of course Jonas knew he was no match for Grey, but if he stood back and did nothing, he would be punished by Arthur. Everyone was holding someone back, if he was the only one who did not make a move, then he would surely be punished.

He rushed after Grey, but he was no match for him in terms of speed. Not even Silvan and Arthur could compete with Grey.

With no one to stop him, Grey did not even think twice. Standing in front of the core, he grabbed it without hesitation. He needed to make sure they did not get trapped inside this cave, so any delay would only put them all in danger. Every person here was aware of this, but since they were oppositions, they could not help but fight each other.

Jonas attacked Grey just as he was grabbing at the core, but there was no way he could stop him.
