Chapter 511 - 247: Rapid Charge Fist’s Evolution — Mountain-Shaking Fist
Chapter 511: Chapter 247: Rapid Charge Fist’s Evolution — Mountain-Shaking Fist
Early in the morning, the Adventurer’s Association was already as boisterous as ever.
Even though it was only morning, many Adventurers had already gathered at the Association. They sat in the great hall, ordering mugs of ale and swapping tall tales with their companions.
Even when they weren’t on a quest, these Adventurers had gotten into the habit of stopping by the Association during their downtime.
Among them were even some retired, middle-aged and older folks, bragging about the adventures of their youth...
They might not have looked like much, but each of them had a story to tell. A few even wore the Adventurer’s Badges on their chests that marked them as Silver Level Adventurers.
’It was a good thing they’d agreed on a meeting spot beforehand,’ Lin Mo thought. ’Otherwise, just finding someone in this clamorous hall would have taken quite some time.’
Arriving at a corner on the east side of the great hall, Lin Mo quickly spotted Deke and the others waiting for him.
"Ah, there you are..."
Deke waved him over. "Perfect timing. We were just discussing which quests to accept. Lin Mo, what do you think of these?"
Lin Mo looked them over.
There were five or six quests in total, most of which were the usual extermination or material-gathering types. They didn’t require much thought—you just had to find the target, kill it, and collect the materials.
Most Adventurers preferred these kinds of quests.
Lin Mo was no exception.
"I’m good with any of them. Go ahead and pick."
Lin Mo didn’t doubt Deke’s expertise.
Although a small incident had occurred during their previous C Level Task, making it more difficult than Deke had anticipated, that was just an accident and couldn’t be held against him.
When it came to choosing the quests themselves, Deke’s judgment was sound.
After a moment, Deke picked out three of the quests. In terms of their balance of difficulty and reward, they seemed to be the best options.
Once the quests were decided, Lin Mo and Deke went to the Association’s counter to accept them.
Unlike the counter for C Level Tasks, the one for D Level Tasks was far more crowded. These simpler quests were a better fit for the majority of Adventurers in the Royal Capital.
As a result, long lines had formed in front of each D Level Task counter.
Of course, Deke had anticipated this. While they were choosing the quests, he had already sent one of his squad members to get in line.
Now that the quests were finalized, it was nearly their turn. Almost no time was wasted.
Soon, it was their turn. Deke handed the three quest forms and his squad’s badge to the staff member at the counter. "We’d like to accept these three quests... as a joint operation."
Lin Mo handed over the badge for the Silver Radiance Squad as well.
Only by accepting a quest cooperatively could the completion be credited to both of their records.
"Alright, one moment please."
The staff member nodded, took the materials, and began processing the request with practiced ease.
"Quest numbers D67234, D67889, and D70153. Please confirm the details one last time."
Lin Mo glanced over the three quests.
The first was to hunt Shattered Rock Puppets.
[Hunt for Shattered Rock Puppets]
Quest Number: D67234
Type: Extermination/Material Gathering
Client: Fajade City Mining Association
Reward: 800 Gold Coins
Description:
Shattered Rock Puppets (Threat Level 3–5), formed from coalesced ore, have appeared in Area 2 of the Giant Stone Mine. They have already destroyed three mine shafts. You must slay at least two Shattered Rock Puppets and retrieve their "Rock Cores." (The value of any additional Rock Cores will be assessed and paid for separately.)
Note: Targets have a degree of physical resistance. It is recommended to bring heavy weaponry or a Mage Professional.
It was a pretty standard quest—moderate difficulty for a D Level Task, with a decent reward.
The rewards for D Level Tasks were usually under 1,000 Gold Coins, so 800 Gold Coins was on the higher end.
The second quest was to clear out Crystal-devouring Worms.
[Extermination of Crystal-devouring Worms]
Quest Number: D67889
Type: Hunt/Ecological Maintenance
Client: The Alchemists’ Symposium
Reward: 1,200 Gold Coins + High-value material buyback
Description:
A swarm of Crystal-devouring Worms is rapidly multiplying in a cave in the middle section of Mine Area 3. They have already devoured Magic Ore worth over 2,000 Gold Coins. Clear the swarm and slay its progenitor, the Crystal-Devouring Worm King (estimated Threat Level 8).
Note 1: The worms’ bodily fluids are highly corrosive. Acid-resistant Potions are required.
Note 2: The progenitor is typically hidden deep within the cave.
’No need to buy acid-resistant Potions.’ Deke’s team usually kept a stock of common Alchemy Potions like that.
Besides, the batch of Alchemy Potions Madam Chacher had given them included some as well.
Compared to the first quest, this one was clearly much more difficult. It involved facing a Low-ranking Lord Level Demon, and a high-level one at that—estimated to be Level 8.
That was why the reward was much higher; the base payout alone exceeded the normal range for a D Level Task, not to mention the high-priced buyback for Crystal-devouring Worm materials.
The final quest was an investigation of Crystalized Spiders.
[Crystalized Spider Nest Investigation]
Quest Number: D70153
Type: Exploration/Material Gathering
Client: Preston Commerce Association
Reward: 1,000 Gold Coins + High-value web buyback
Description:
A Crystalized Spider Nest has been discovered in the latter part of Mine Area 6. You are to investigate the size of the nest and retrieve as many intact webs as possible.
Warning: The Crystalized Spider Queen (Threat Level 10) may be present within the nest. Please ensure your squad’s Combat Power is appropriately configured!
