Chapter 411: Chapter 214: Actually, I Like You (Part 2)
"You two know each other from before?"
Lin Mo asked, curious.
"Sort of."
Landon nodded. "Miss Flora was active around Silver Stream City for a time. We worked together briefly back then."
"I see..."
’That makes sense,’ Lin Mo thought. Silver Stream City was where Flora took her graduation assessment, so she must have spent a good amount of time here. She’d even gotten to know the City Lord, so it wasn’t surprising that a famous Adventurer like Landon would know her too.
"So, what about those Elite Mages who came to help earlier?"
Flora looked at Lin Mo, her face full of confusion. "They helped us out so much. We really need to thank them properly."
"What Elite Mages?"
Lin Mo was baffled.
’Where would Roland Town get Elite Mages?’ he thought. ’And several of them, at that... If we really had them, we wouldn’t have had to worry about those Goblins in the first place.’
"The ones who were casting Magic on the battlefield just now, of course."
Flora, in turn, was even more baffled than Lin Mo. "You must have seen them, right? There was a Fire Element one, a Wind Element one, and an Ice Element one. The Ice Element Mage even cast an Epic spell!"
"Er..."
For a moment, Lin Mo didn’t know how to answer.
’How should I put this?’
’This feels pretty good,’ he thought, ’but I’m afraid Flora will beat me up if she finds out the truth.’
So, after some thought, he chose his words carefully. "Well, actually... I haven’t reached Elite Level yet..."
When Flora heard him, it felt as though her brain had briefly shut down.
After being stunned for a good half a minute, she finally blinked and asked with a dazed expression, "So... you were the one who cast all that Magic earlier?"
She wasn’t excited, as one might expect. Instead, she was surprisingly calm.
"Er... yes."
Seeing her reaction, Lin Mo felt an inexplicable sense of fear.
’Is she okay?’
"The Magic from all three Elements?"
"That’s right."
Flora slowly exhaled and rubbed the bridge of her nose. "I’m tired. I need to rest for a bit."
With that, she sat right down, hugged her knees, and buried her face between them.
’Did she just completely shut down?’
Lin Mo scratched his head, unsure of whether he should say something.
It didn’t feel right to comfort her, but it also felt wrong not to.
So he just stayed with her, sharing the silence.
Landon, on the other hand, was grinning from ear to ear.
He was surprised that Lin Mo’s power had grown so much again, of course. But seeing the genius who had once seemed so far beyond his reach be just as shocked speechless by someone else’s talent... that was the greatest comfort for the "ordeals" Landon had recently been through himself.
’See? This is what happens to even the Kingdom’s once-in-a-century magical genius!’
After a good while, perhaps ten minutes, Flora slowly raised her head. She stared at Lin Mo and asked with a dead-serious expression, "Are you really human? Not some strange, powerful race disguised as one?"
"Or maybe the illegitimate son of a god? Or a reincarnated Giant Dragon?"
"..."
The corner of Lin Mo’s mouth twitched. He was momentarily speechless.
’The first thing you should do is throw out all those trashy novels written by Minstrels.’
Of course, Flora was just venting her frustration.
She had actually considered the possibility that Lin Mo had already broken through to become a Senior Level Warrior. After all, she had witnessed his astonishing growth rate with her own eyes.
His talent was astounding, far surpassing Eve’s, and it was in no way weaker than his aptitude as a Mage.
But she never imagined Lin Mo could become a Senior Level Mage so quickly.
After all, compared to Professions like Warrior and Assassin, leveling up as a Mage was much more difficult.
Not only were a Mage’s Skills harder to learn and master, requiring significantly more practice time, but when they did gain proficiency, a considerable portion of the resulting boons would often be diverted to their Spirit rather than going entirely to their Magic Power.
That was why, despite her obviously superior talent, her current Level was lower than Shaya’s.
’So, how in the world did he do it?’
You couldn’t blame Flora for having her head filled with the Minstrels’ novels. She simply couldn’t think of any other rational explanation.
"Let’s go. First, let’s go check on the town."
Flora stood up, looking as though she had come to terms with it all.
Landon was all too familiar with this feeling. ’I’ve been down this road before!’ he thought.
The group walked into Roland Town. The once-familiar town was now completely unrecognizable. Traces of the Goblins’ destruction were everywhere. The buildings were in tatters, and as far as the eye could see, there was nothing but rubble and ruined walls.
As they ventured deeper into the town, however, the situation improved slightly.
After all, only some of the Goblins had managed to breach the town’s defenses; they hadn’t occupied it completely. Furthermore, the town’s residents had fought back. When facing an Ordinary Goblin, even a regular person could win if they fought viciously.
After all, without factoring in Extraordinary Strength, size and weight are the most important metrics for Combat Power. And that’s not to mention that humans possess more agile and coordinated limbs than Goblins.
The ground was littered with Goblin corpses, though there were human bodies as well—and not just a few.
Occasionally, they would still spot living Goblins in the streets, locked in combat with residents or Guards.
Or to be more precise, they were trying to flee and had just been cornered.
Once these green-skinned beasts lost their overwhelming advantage in numbers, their cowardly nature would resurface. They were like sewer rats: bold enough to bare their fangs in the dark corners, but the moment they were exposed to the light, they would immediately turn tail and flee.
