Chapter 448: Chapter 230: Two-legged Beast, You Tricked Me
This ability was just too fantastical.
He was truly worthy of the name "Yang Druid Qi"!
...
After the pleasantries, Yang Qi immediately started making arrangements.
He instructed Tong Xiaoyue to lead her team and all the village onlookers back into the village proper. They were to take shelter in houses far from Dazhu’s House, making sure to shut and lock the doors and windows.
He then had the old village chief make an announcement over the village’s loudspeaker, telling all the villagers not to leave their homes for the time being, and especially not to go near the west end of the village or the path leading to the small plaza.
Soon, the village, where early risers had been peeking out curiously, fell completely silent. The only sound was the rustling of leaves in the morning breeze.
After confirming that everything was secure, Yang Qi returned to the backyard of Dazhu’s House.
The leopard was still lying there, with Xiaojiu standing guard beside it.
When it saw Yang Qi return, the leopard let out a low whimper from its throat.
"Two-legged Beast, you’re finally back. What were those things?"
"That sound just now was so loud."
It had clearly noticed the commotion at the village entrance and was somewhat startled by the power of the loudspeaker.
"It’s nothing. That was just the vehicle coming to take you to see the female leopard."
Yang Qi soothed it and motioned for it to get up. "Come on, follow me. We’re going to get in the vehicle."
The leopard slowly rose to its feet, shook the grass clippings from its coat, and followed a few paces behind Yang Qi.
It was instinctively wary of the metal boxes and strange scents, but with Yang Qi there—and especially with the little black cat that had given it a hard time before perched on Yang Qi’s shoulder and staring it down—the leopard didn’t dare to act up.
And so, a peculiar scene unfolded in the early morning mist.
A young man walked at a leisurely pace with a black cat perched on his shoulder. A few meters behind him, a magnificent and sturdy leopard followed, its steps cautious as it trailed at his heels.
The man and the leopard followed a dirt path around the outskirts of the village, tracing a semicircle to avoid the dense residential area, and headed toward the small plaza at the village entrance.
Throughout the entire process, Xiaojiu’s emerald eyes remained locked on the leopard, an invisible Spiritual Pressure faintly enveloping it.
The leopard, for its part, was sensible enough. Aside from occasionally lifting its head to look at the silent village or warily scanning the surrounding mountain forest, it made no other unnecessary movements, let alone any attempt to escape or attack.
After making their way halfway around, they finally reached the edge of the small plaza at the village entrance.
The rear door of the transport vehicle was already open. The inside was lined with clean, dry straw, and the air vents were open. It was clear the compartment was quite spacious.
Several Red Star Zoo staff members in protective suits, armed with tranquilizer blowguns and protective shields, waited nervously in a nearby house.
If anything went wrong, they could rush over immediately.
"See that big metal box? There’s some tasty food prepared for you inside."
Yang Qi said to the leopard, pointing at the open door of the vehicle.
The leopard looked at the dark entrance of the compartment, then back at Yang Qi. A clear flicker of hesitation and unease crossed its eyes.
Its animal instincts made it resistant to enclosed spaces.
"Don’t worry, it’s only temporary. We’ll be there soon."
Yang Qi reassured it again, then walked to the back of the vehicle and stepped inside first. Standing in the compartment, he gave a mental command to Xiaojiu.
Xiaojiu leaped lightly out of the compartment and landed outside, its gaze still fixed on the leopard.
The leopard paced for a few steps outside the vehicle, its nose sniffing forcefully at the scent of fresh meat wafting from inside.
Finally, under Yang Qi’s watchful gaze and Xiaojiu’s supervision, it overcame its instinctual fear and tentatively, step by step, leaped into the compartment.
The light inside the compartment was a bit dim, but it was very clean.
Just as promised, a large stainless steel basin sat on the floor, piled high with large chunks of fresh beef and mutton, still streaked with blood, exuding a scent of raw meat and blood.
Hunger instantly overwhelmed its anxiety.
The leopard let out a low growl and pounced on the basin. It sniffed the contents first, then began to tear at the meat and gulp it down. Juices splattered everywhere as it ate, a satisfied purr rumbling in its throat.
Yang Qi stood inside the compartment not far from it, quietly watching it eat.
The leopard wolfed down about half the food. Feeling a bit full, it lifted its head, looked at Yang Qi, and let out a low growl.
"Do you want some?"
"Thanks, but no thanks."
Yang Qi shook his head with a smile. "I eat different food from you. This is all yours."
"Alright, then."
The leopard seemed a little disappointed, but it didn’t insist. It buried its head and continued to eat, mumbling as it chewed.
"This meat is pretty good. More tender than what’s in the mountains."
"Once you get there, you’ll have all the meat you can eat. As much as you want."
Yang Qi agreed with a smile.
Hearing this, the leopard wagged its tail in satisfaction and ate with even more gusto.
Soon, it had devoured the entire basin of meat, leaving nothing behind.
With its belly full, the leopard’s eyelids grew heavy, and its body felt weak.
It shook its head, trying to stay awake, but drowsiness washed over it like a tidal wave.
It let out a low whimper, looked at Yang Qi, then at Xiaojiu outside the compartment, as if it wanted to say something, but its huge body swayed.
The next moment, it slowly collapsed onto the hay-covered floor of the compartment, its eyelids closed, and it began to snore deeply and evenly.
That’s right. The meat was drugged!
This was the plan Yang Qi had arranged with Tong Xiaoyue beforehand.
The leopard was, after all, a wild beast. Ensuring absolute safety during the long-distance transport was crucial, and sedation was the most reliable method.
The dosage and type of drug had been meticulously calculated by the Veterinarian to ensure the leopard would remain asleep during transit without harming its health.
Yang Qi used his Spiritual Sense to carefully check the leopard’s condition. He confirmed that it was fully sedated, breathing steadily with a strong heartbeat—it was simply asleep.
He immediately backed out of the compartment.
Once outside, he waved at the crowd of people who were hiding behind the windows of the houses in the distance, watching nervously.
