Chapter 293 - 006: Gradually Spreading Clouds

Chapter 293: 006: Gradually Spreading Clouds

The same situation wasn’t limited to the Magic Potion Manor.

The Psychedelic Mushroom Plantation.

Carl, who had just gotten into a fight with a Pureblood apprentice due to a conflict, returned to his dorm. Soon after, there was a knock on the door.

When he opened the door, it was Enoli, who had come here with him.

“Brook is really too much! Taking advantage of being part of the Lorn Family, he acts recklessly. It was clearly his neglect in watering that caused the mushrooms to wither, yet he still blames you for it.”

Enoli’s words of comfort softened Carl’s heart. Suddenly, the wounds on his body felt less painful.

Just as he thought he might soon shake off his solitude, Enoli’s tone abruptly changed: “Carl, join us. In this bleak world, let’s hold each other for warmth. Here, you will find true fairness.”

Carl was taken aback: “You… us?”

Enoli smiled gently, traced a cross over her chest, and then spoke devoutly: “Now, please allow me to introduce our Father to you.” f\r(e)ewe.b no\vel.com

White Seagull Harbor.

Subaru, who had just suffered heartbreak, was drowning his sorrows in the tavern.

The girl he liked, an apprentice stationed at White Seagull Harbor, had been the focus of Subaru’s affection for a long time. He looked after her every need, investing himself fully in his pursuit of her.

Under his persistent efforts, their relationship visibly advanced to the point where Subaru believed he was on the brink of blissful evenings and deep companionship.

But just at that moment, a newly-arrived Pureblood appeared in White Seagull Harbor.

It took only three days before the girl Subaru spent three years chasing, unable to even brush her hand, left with the Pureblood for an inn.

To make it worse, the Pureblood shamelessly bragged about his exploits, sharing every detail with other peers as though it were a badge of honor.

“Damn it, scum.”

Subaru thought about revenge, but the girl was the first to stand in front of him, shielding the Pureblood and berating him for interfering, mocking his foolish delusions.

The reason was simple:

The Pureblood showered her with lavish gifts worth tens of thousands of Magic Stones, casually offering rare resources as if they were nothing.

For someone like Subaru, who barely earned a few hundred Magic Stones a month, this was an insurmountable gap.

“This is absolutely messed up!”

Subaru felt a burning rage he had no outlet for. Losing the girl was secondary; what tormented him was the feeling of being forever crushed underfoot, powerless to rise, forced to endure the humiliation.

“Frustrated, my friend?”

Just then, a hand wrapped around his shoulder, and a Male Witch sat down beside him—it was Riel, a fellow Mid-level Apprentice also stationed at White Seagull Harbor.

Riel cursed, “Matilda, that damned whore. Raised by whores, spreading her legs for a few pieces of Magic Stones, no better than the tavern prostitutes.”

Subaru chuckled: “It’s not her fault. It’s mine for lacking what it takes.”

“You think it’s about capability?”

Riel retorted, “What did you do wrong? Waking up before dawn to inspect the shipping routes, working tirelessly deep into the night, even taking on patrol duties—endless labor rewarded with what? A meager six hundred Magic Stones.”

“What did Aled do, then? Simply because of his privileged birth, he possesses the Magic Stones we couldn’t earn in ten lifetimes. He squanders the rare resources we wouldn’t dare to dream of.”

“While we toil like beasts of burden just to scrape by, they contribute nothing and yet reap the fruits of our labor effortlessly.”

“Then, they turn around to mock us as lowly Muggles, tarnish our dignity, and brazenly insult the women we admire.”

Riel grew more agitated as he spoke.

Subaru thought this was odd—after all, wasn’t he the one being slighted here? Why was Riel getting so worked up?

Casually, Subaru said, “It’s just how things are. They’re born lucky, that’s all.”

Riel declared, “That’s not an excuse!”

“Everyone is born the same. They’re no different from us physically, so why must we be their beasts of burden while they hold lofty positions above us?”

Subaru gazed at him with confusion: “What are you implying?”

Riel smirked, extending a hand to Subaru: “Nothing in this world is unchangeable—not even fate.”

“Come, join us, and together let’s defy this damnable fate.”

Similar scenes played out across various locations, where many Muggle apprentices received invitations to join an organization called the Freemasonry Church.

A shadow gradually spread across this land…

The Lorent Kingdom, Water Capital, St. Des Cathedral. fr eewe(b)nove.l.co\m

St. Des Cathedral stands in the eastern part of the Water Capital. Although it was built just a few years ago, it has already become a landmark of the city—much like its owner, the Freemasonry Church, which rose like a comet.

Within the expansive Praying Temple, Sister Isabella walked deeper into the temple. She was followed by a dozen men and women, all dressed in white robes and barefoot.

These individuals were selected from the Church’s devout followers, having each proven their loyalty and faith.

As such,

They were granted the rare opportunity to meet the Pope and receive his personal blessings.

Among the group of fanatics, Adam kept his head lowered as instructed by the Sister but covertly observed his surroundings.

Recently, the Freemasonry Church had spread like wildfire, with their presence seemingly everywhere. Their sudden growth had drawn the attention of Wizards, who began deploying investigators; Adam was one of them.

After extensive investigation, Adam had finally mapped out the structure of the Church’s organization and infiltrated their ranks as a believer. Using Magic, he had deceived them into granting him the identity of a fanatic.

’At last, I can meet the Pope. Is he the mastermind behind all of this?’

Adam’s research suggested that the Freemasonry Church was intricately linked to the unrest among the Seven Kingdoms, supported by forces of Extraordinary Power.

’But what is their ultimate goal?’

Adam pondered deeply.

After passing through a long corridor, the group arrived at the depths of the Praying Temple.

A massive cross-shaped sculpture stood before them, under which a man in a white robe was standing with his back turned, hands clasped as though praying earnestly to the sculpture.

Sure enough, a Transcendent!

Adam immediately sensed the spiritual fluctuations emanating from the man—they were unmistakably not human.

But…

Why did he seem somewhat familiar?

Adam frowned as he scrutinized the man’s back. Strangely, the figure felt oddly recognizable, and the spiritual power radiating from him carried a familiar tone.

“Your Eminence, the believers have arrived,” Sister Isabella stepped forward.

The Pope stopped his prayer and slowly turned around.

At that moment, sunlight streamed through the colorful cross-shaped window beside them, casting vibrant hues around the man, forming a radiant halo behind him. Within the halo, his face became fully visible.

A face deep with contours, striking features, and an undeniable air of authority unique to those in power. His stern and upright demeanor was complemented by two carefully groomed mustaches.

It was then that Adam’s body trembled violently.

He stared in disbelief, his eyes wide.

Because the man before him was not only someone he recognized but someone he was very familiar with.

It was none other than,

Leonard von Aistheim—chief among the Seven Great Judges, the one who held ultimate authority over the Shadow Tower.

’This can’t be…’

Adam was utterly bewildered, unable to grasp the situation.

Meanwhile, Leonard’s gaze landed on him. At this moment, he appeared starkly different from his usual self in the Tower: his face, devoid of any emotion.

Calmly, he said, “It seems your screening process wasn’t thorough enough.”

His voice grew colder as he continued: “Among the believers, a non-believer has snuck in.”

A chilling wave,

swiftly enveloped Adam.
