Chapter 605 - 586: Comet!
Chapter 605: Chapter 586: Comet!
The Perception Crystal Ball of the White Bone Throne flickered violently. Its light and shadows resembled a shredded vortex as dense red signals multiplied madly deep within the sphere.
The Witch Demon Apprentice’s voice abruptly changed pitch.
"Large signals—a massive number of large signals!
"Ten spatial fluctuation sources—massive spatial tears are appearing around the enemy ship—
"Quantities... quantities are being calculated..."
The Skeleton Duke’s withered claws, which had been frozen mid-air, slowly curled inward. The two clumps of ghostly green Soul Fire in his eyes were dead set on the Crystal Ball.
"It exceeds the single-array counting limit..." The Witch Demon Apprentice spoke faster and faster, no longer able to suppress his panic. "Switching to the joint fleet perception."
Seven warship perception nodes connected simultaneously, finally bringing the light and shadows at the center of the sphere into focus. "...Over twelve thousand."
The bridge grew increasingly quiet. The green Ghost Fire in the bone lampstands flickered gently, as if physically suppressed by that string of numbers.
"Intelligence confirmed. Twelve thousand small flight combat units have been detected.
"Four hundred high-speed flight units.
"One hundred and twenty large artificial constructs ranging from fifty to one hundred and thirty meters in size. Their functions are unknown, but they are continuously releasing miniature flight units.
"The numbers... are still growing."
Kesuga’s blood-red eyes suddenly widened.
Sara sprang up from the pillar, her exposed muscle fibers as taut as bowstrings. She rushed to the Crystal Ball in three strides, staring at the dense, surging, and expanding red dots that nearly dyed the entire sphere a bloody crimson.
"Impossible." Her voice was filled with shock. "An Alchemy Wizard... an Alchemy Wizard who has only been established for twelve years—how could he have such an arsenal?"
The Skeleton Duke could no longer sit still. Underneath his hood, the brightness of the two clumps of Soul Fire compressed to the extreme, turning into two green pinpricks of light. Even the law enforcement fleets of the White Wizard Council in the first fifteen flight sectors didn’t possess combat formations of this scale. The enemy... came prepared.
"Dawn Star Level signal source detected!" The Witch Demon Apprentice’s voice pitched up again.
"A single one! Approaching rapidly from the direction of the enemy ship!
"The speed is incredibly fast!
"Unable to accurately lock onto its trajectory!"
Inside the bridge of the Ten Thousand Miles of Sunshine, the holographic sandbox projected the three-dimensional real-time situation of the entire battlefield in front of Allen. A net woven of steel pressed toward the Skeleton Duke’s fleet. The movement speed of the red dots was decreasing; they had already begun to decelerate. But it was too late. Given the current speed and distance between the two sides, the enemy fleet could no longer break away from the engagement.
Allen turned his head and looked at No. 18, who had been standing quietly by his right side the whole time. She felt his gaze, and her ice-blue eyes calmly met his.
"It’s your turn," Allen said.
No. 18 made no extraneous gestures, immediately turning and walking toward the corridor on the side of the bridge. Her Spiritual Remains Steel feet stepped onto the reinforced alloy floor, emitting dull, metallic thuds. Her dead weight, seven times that of the first generation, made her every step feel like a small steamroller. At the end of the corridor, the exterior launch hatch of the Ten Thousand Miles of Sunshine slammed open with a booming sound. The boundless void was exposed before her, and the faint fluorescence of the Sea of Magical Power illuminated the launch track.
No. 18 bent her knees. The Hephaestus Type-III Engine went directly from standby to full power. A dull roar echoed from deep within her chest, like a star detonating inside her. The Anti-Gravity Rune Array module activated.
Launch!
No. 18 shot out of the Ten Thousand Miles of Sunshine like a cannonball. There was no atmosphere in space, but the moment the Storm Airflow Rune acceleration system built into her body was activated, it created a swirling, high-speed cyclone out of thin air from the boundary of the anti-gravity Force Field. It wrapped around No. 18’s body, dragging a long, continuously expanding trail behind her. From a distance, it looked like a celestial body from the universe of Allen’s previous life—a comet.
The silver trail carved a blazing arc across the deep space. Converted to the standard atmospheric speed of sound from Allen’s past life, her speed broke the sound barrier within zero point three seconds. There was no true sound barrier in the Sea of Magical Power, but as her Spiritual Remains Steel Body smashed through the thin Magic Power matter ahead at such a speed, shockwaves still rippled outward in expanding rings.
Six times the speed of sound. Ten times. Twenty times. One hundred times the speed of sound!
At this speed, she could cover thirty-four thousand meters per second. Her sub-two-meter figure, dragging an endless trail, lunged straight toward those seventeen Necromancy Bone Dragons that resembled moving natural disasters.
In the Bone Dragon formation, the leading creature was the largest of all. Its skeleton was reforged from the remains of some extinct ancient Giant Dragon. Each of its vertebrae was the size of a house, and the diameter of its hollow eye sockets exceeded eight meters. The ghostly green Necromancer’s Fire burned fiercely deep within its bone cavity, illuminating its incomparably massive skull.
Its perception caught a high-speed signal approaching from the direction of the enemy warship. It was tiny—so small that in conventional perception, it was practically equivalent to a speck of dust in the void. But its speed...
The Bone Dragon Lord’s massive head slowly turned, its two hollow eye sockets locking onto that silver streak of light. The Necromancer’s Fire suddenly flared up. It was a humanoid silhouette, dragging a silver trail tens of kilometers long.
Then, all perception was terminated in a single instant.
BOOM!
A dull tremor that pierced the soul spread across the battlefield. The Bone Dragon Lord’s head shattered.
The massive dragon head, over forty meters in diameter, was pierced through from the front the moment that silver afterimage flashed by. No. 18’s fist tore through layers upon layers of bone armor, obliterating the ghostly green Ghost Fire that had burned for hundreds of years, along with its vessel, into fine powder. The impact force transmitted backward along the skull, using the Bone Dragon’s own skeleton as a medium to trigger a chain collapse.
