Chapter 578 - 562: Usurping the Divine Throne
Chapter 578: Chapter 562: Usurping the Divine Throne
The Blood Giant looked down indifferently, the viscous river of blood beneath its feet churning like a living creature.
The pool of blood beneath the Conductor’s feet exploded without warning. The scarlet liquid morphed into countless tentacles, slithering up his ankles. Before he could even let out a scream, the Conductor was completely engulfed by a massive, roiling ball of bloody water. His violent struggles lasted for only two seconds. A pungent, acidic stench filled the air as a bone-chilling dissolving sound echoed from within the mass of blood.
Soon, the bloody water fell completely still. A hero who had just ignited the hopes of a hundred thousand people with his life had died just like that, crushed as easily as a bug. The newly sparked flames of resistance in the square were utterly extinguished by this despairing deluge of blood.
"It’s over..." The one-eyed brawny man’s hands went limp. His heavy battleaxe crashed onto the stone slabs with a loud CLANG as he collapsed, as if his spine had been ripped out.
"There is... no god..." The young Minstrel slumped to the ground, his lips turning purple. The rallying cry caught in his throat, dissolving into a despairing whimper.
On the outermost edge of the crowd, Allen’s deep blue eyes calmly reflected the tragedy. "What a great show," he thought. "It’s a pity the curtain falls so soon. So, it’s time for me to take the stage for the second half."
The moment his thoughts shifted, the Alchemy Puppet he was controlling—disguised as an ordinary traveler—underwent a drastic internal transformation. Bones stretched, muscles adjusted, and its facial contours shifted amidst a dense shimmer of silver light. In just a single second, a replica stood in its place, identical to the deceased Conductor right down to the curve of his sideburns. Immediately after, faint ripples distorted the space, and Allen’s figure vanished in an instant.
Up on the high platform, the pool of scarlet blood that had just devoured the Conductor suddenly began to surge again before exploding with a deafening BOOM! A figure shot up into the sky from the blood, shaking off all the filth. He hovered in mid-air, his robes fluttering, completely unblemished. It was none other than the Conductor, the very man everyone had just watched "melt" away!
A deathly silence hung over Holy Blood Square. Only the sound of the wind softly blowing could be heard. Whether it was the resistance, the Holy Order Army, or the Believers prostrating on the ground, everyone craned their necks, staring dumbfounded at the man in the sky who had achieved Resurrection.
Kesuga was also stunned for a moment. He looked at the figure in mid-air, his deep voice exploding above the square and shaking dust from the surrounding buildings. "What are you?"
Others might not know, but Kesuga knew very well that the mortal from moments ago had been thoroughly melted down into Essence of Life by his Blood and Flesh Rune. Resurrection was absolutely impossible. The identical guy in front of him was undoubtedly a fake.
Allen smiled faintly. His voice, amplified by Magic Power, echoed clearly into every corner of the square. "Me? I am the Conductor."
Below, the resistance and members of the Violinist Alliance—who had just been devoid of all hope—jerked their heads up, sparks reigniting in their eyes.
"The Conductor!"
"He’s still alive! He didn’t die!"
"I knew it! I knew he wouldn’t die so easily!"
These roars were like sparks falling into boiling oil. The cheers instantly swelled into a tsunami, and the resistance fighters gripped their weapons tightly once more.
Kesuga had no time to bother with the ants beneath his feet. He stared at Allen, sweeping his massive Spiritual Power over him in an attempt to see through the uninvited guest’s background. The heartbeat was fake, and the blood flow was fake—this was a High-tier Alchemy Puppet!
Kesuga realized it in an instant. A foreign Wizard had come to crash his party! Regardless of which big shot was behind this, since they dared to snatch his prey in his territory, he would obliterate both the puppeteer and the Puppet!
Taking advantage of Kesuga’s momentary thought process, Allen raised his hand and pointed straight at the Blood Giant. His voice carried the penetrating power of spiritual deterrence, incredibly captivating.
"Compatriots! Open your eyes and see clearly!
"This is no god! This is a Demon lingering on its last legs by feeding on our blood! It is a monster!
"I have weathered life and death, crossed the endless darkness, and finally found the True God at the end of the starry sky!"
Allen opened his arms and gazed up at the sky, his tone incomparably pious.
"The True God pities mortals and has enlightened me, turning me into an Angel. Today, by the True God’s decree, I have descended to this place to judge this Pseudo-God who steals faith!"
The entire crowd was in an uproar. True God? Angel? These words struck everyone’s nerves. The Believers were bewildered, and the resistance fighters were shocked. They had only just established the belief that "there are no gods in the world," yet now their leader was proclaiming the existence of a True God.
Kesuga laughed out of extreme anger. "True God? Angel? What a joke!" The Blood Giant’s voice seeped with violent killing intent. "Playing the trickster! On this continent, I am the only True God! I don’t care what kind of thing you are, just die!"
RUMBLE!
The river of blood in the square flowed backward, converging into a sky-blotting frenzy of bloody waves. It surged up into the air, sweeping toward Allen! The scarlet crest of the wave towered a hundred meters high. Wherever it passed, the air was corroded, emitting a sizzling SIZZLE.
"Ah!" The crowd below cried out in alarm. The hope that had just arisen seemed as if it would be swallowed once more by this desperate scarlet hue.
However, facing this world-destroying strike, a compassionate and calm smile surfaced on the hovering "Conductor’s" face. He didn’t dodge at all.
"Conductor—!" A shrill, anguished cry tore through the crowd below.
The sea of blood swallowed him in an instant. As Allen felt this costly Alchemy Shell being shattered and dissolved by the furious Magic Power, he didn’t resist. Instead, he laughed aloud. His laughter pierced through the sea of blood, echoing over the square.
"What are you laughing at?!" Kesuga roared, the sea of blood growing even more furious.
The Alchemy body was completely shattered and dissolved.
Kesuga scoffed coldly; it couldn’t withstand a single blow. But the next second, the sky brightened.
Kesuga froze. Not again!
A clear, solemn hymn, sounding as if it came from the highest heavens, resounded through the clouds. In the sky, the blood-soaked clouds were torn apart by a ray of holy, pristine Holy Light!
A white figure with an extreme mechanical aesthetic slowly descended along the pillar of light. Its white-porcelain armor gave off a warm luster under the Holy Light. Golden Rune lines meandered along the edges of the armor, resembling the relief patterns on the pillars of a temple. Behind it, eight massive, translucent golden wings spread out like a peacock displaying its feathers. Golden motes of light continuously drifted down from the wingtips, so holy that even looking directly at it felt like a blasphemy.
[Eight-winged Angel Gabriel]
It hovered quietly in front of the Blood Giant. Compared to the hundred-meter-tall Kesuga, its twenty-four-meter-tall body seemed somewhat "petite." Yet the divine, majestic, and otherworldly aura it exuded instantly overpowered Kesuga’s filthy and evil guise.
One was a Blood and Flesh Demon God from the Abyss. The other was an Order Angel from the Celestial Kingdom. The two formed the most extreme and vivid contrast.
This ultimate visual impact ruthlessly shattered the worldview of everyone present. In the square, everyone watched, dumbfounded, entirely unable to comprehend what was happening before their eyes.
Right then, the descended white Angel slowly spoke. A voice incredibly familiar to everyone present echoed majestically across the heavens and earth:
"I said that I would turn into an Angel to judge the Pseudo-God."
It was the Conductor’s voice! Exactly the same!
In the resistance camp, a member of the Violinist Alliance tightly covered his mouth as tears welled up in his eyes. He dropped to his knees, trembling, and offered the most pious kowtow to Gabriel in the sky.
"God...
"God... really... answered us..."
