Chapter 517: Chapter 176: The ’80s Drama Queen is Forced to Become a Top Student (11)
"It’s not too late for you to learn. Hurry home and get your parents. I want to see just what kind of parents raise kids who bully newcomers like this," another one of the little rascals said coolly.
Pang and Junzi pouted, holding back tears. They dragged their feet, unwilling to leave.
’These guys are so unfair! Why do they have to drag parents into a kids’ squabble?’
’They really didn’t want to get a beating!’
"What, you bully someone and don’t want to show some remorse? Is my friend someone you can just push around?" Third said coolly. "I’ve memorized your faces. I’ll be dropping by your houses later to have a talk! You’ll have to compensate her for nutritional expenses and emotional distress."
The two kids shivered in fear and nodded hastily.
The smile faded from Sheng Leyun’s face. She lowered her hand, her expression returning to one of a well-behaved, harmless girl. Blinking, she called out to the two boys, "Hold on."
Her two coolly spoken words made the boys so scared they stumbled and fell into a heap.
Sheng Leyun looked at the three kids beside her, confused. ’What on earth did these guys do to scare them so badly?’
Third guiltily rubbed the tip of his nose. He looked left, right, up, and down—anywhere but at her.
"I only just got here two days ago. As far as I know, I haven’t done anything to you. Why are you targeting me?" She took two steps forward, and the three boys behind her followed suit, taking two steps as well.
Pang and Junzi, terrified, huddled together, trembling. Sitting on the ground, they scooted their butts steadily toward the wall.
"We... we just saw that your dad is really generous with you, so... so we thought we’d corner you," Pang stammered out an explanation.
"But I heard that Hailan was looking for Pang and Junzi. That’s you two, isn’t it?" Sheng Leyun crouched down, pushing her already pretty little face right up to theirs, a smile playing on her lips.
Pang and Junzi exchanged a glance, absolutely furious. A moment ago, they were thinking about their deep friendship and had righteously sworn they would never be traitors. But as it turned out, Xiao Hailan and Xiao Haiyang had already sold them out.
’That explains it! How could Sheng Leyun get in with these three powerful figures on her very first day of school?’
’Sheng Leyun must have paid them to be her bodyguards!’
"You already know, so why are you asking!" Pang huffed, his cheeks puffed out. "It was your stepsister and stepbrother. They told us to ’borrow’ your money and split it with everyone."
Sheng Leyun shook her head, tutting. "So, just because they gave you some information, they get to make you take the risk of cornering someone to ’borrow’ money, while they sit back and wait for their cut?"
"Are you guys stupid, or are they just too clever? It’s obvious they’re the ones who hold a grudge against me, so they got you to teach me a lesson for free, and they even get a reward out of it?"
"Heh heh. Don’t you know that we could haul you off to the station right now?"
"Right, you’re young, so you can’t receive any harsh punishments. But, the officers at the station will give you a good long lecture, and then they’ll call your parents to come pick you up."
"And your parents? They’ll have to turn around and compensate me for my emotional distress."
"Tsk, tsk. Tell me, after your parents have lost face and money, no matter how much they dote on you, don’t you think they’ll give you a good old-fashioned spanking?"
Pang and Junzi subconsciously covered their butts, tears welling in their eyes. "W-what do you want from us?"
"Go have a nice little chat with Xiao Xuezhen. Tell him all about the bad things Xiao Hailan and Xiao Haiyang made you do. Heh. They wanted something done, so they just sent you to do it. Does that make them innocent?"
"It’s called incitement, and they won’t escape punishment for it. If a child’s bad habits aren’t corrected harshly, how crooked will they grow up to be?"
"If he doesn’t give you a satisfactory answer, then you go to the station and tell them. Have the officers pay a visit to the Xiao siblings and teach them a lesson."
"Understand?" Sheng Leyun chuckled lightly, patting the two boys’ cheeks without much force.
Pang and Junzi nodded nonstop. ’Why do we feel like this village girl is even scarier than the three bosses behind her?’
’It’s as if... she’s the real boss, and those three are just her followers...’
After Sheng Leyun had walked a little way, she turned, smiled, and waved goodbye to the three boys. "See you this afternoon, classmates!"
Once she was gone, the three of them turned and walked off in another direction.
"Third, you’re amazing! You actually predicted that our new friend would get bullied," Seventh and Eighth said, their eyes full of admiration.
Third smugly stroked his chin, adopting the calm demeanor of a little adult.
"It was obvious. She hasn’t even officially enrolled yet, but plenty of people in the first, second, and third grades have already heard about her."
"What does that tell you?"
