And the man literally did.
Wen He took a careful look around and confirmed that she had been admitted to the hospital in the camp. She fell back onto her pillow, snorted and stared at the plain white ceiling before she initiated, “Did Huo Chen mention anything about the divorce?”
“…” Gu Jinzhi only looked at her without saying a word.

“Didn’t you ask me to shut up just now?”
“…” She frowned while she was screaming inside.

Her body was fixed upon the bed yet in her mind she was clawing and rubbing her hair maniacally. She glared at the man and covered herself with blanket. She fell asleep right after that. Gu Jinzhi was smiling at the gesture which he deemed adorable before standing up for a glass of water. The bottle of pills clinked as he poured out two tablets for himself.
“What are you taking?” Said Wen He all of sudden.
Gu Jinzhi’s hand froze as he placed the glass down, as he looked at the woman who was peeking on him through the gap of her blanket, “Supplements. Would you like some?”
“No, thanks.” And she sank back into the blanket world before falling asleep.
As ambience reached them, Gu Jinzhi quietly exited the ward.
Wen He slept straight until dusk as the nurse knocked at the door while announcing the doctor’s arrival. Wen He pulled the blanket away and got up, only to see a rather young and beautiful female doctor skilfully replacing her bandages with a cold expression. She then ordered the nurse to get Wen He a new packet of sodium chloride for infusion before she left.
The doctor was not all cold and expressionless as right before she left. She passed Wen He a hideous stare like she was viewing a piece of trash.
Wen He bit on her lips although she felt nothing.
She was fully aware that she was being hated by everyone across the nation.
For the next few days in the hospital, Gu Jinzhi would come visit her for half an hour daily. And as expected, she always ended up getting hypertension and adrenaline rush in the end.
For Pete’s sake, Gu Jinzhi, shut the motherf*cking hell up!
Cursed Wen He as she dragged her steps strenuously towards the washroom. She got to the basin and turned the tap.
“You too? Everybody hates me and even a water tap hates me now?!”
The tap was tight.
She could only leave for the toilet outside her ward.
“Ma’am.” The soldiers saluted to her.
She might be a criminal known nationwide but she was still legally a wife of the general. Basic courtesy must be shown.
“Just a toilet break. You can follow me if you feel insecure.” She knew those soldiers were sent to watch her. She also knew that Yang Yi once promised her freedom but etiquette was to be obliged in military.
“It’s alright, ma’am. Take your time.” The soldiers did not follow her, obviously.
“Thank you.”
Wen He walked along the corridor sluggishly while constantly receiving unfriendly stares. She pretended to be non-existent in the surrounding.
She arrived by the washroom, only to be obstructed by the two nurses taller by a feet than her.
“I’m sorry but the washroom is full. Please wait or go somewhere else instead, thank you.”

That was clearly a taunt.
Wen He took a deep breath and stayed calm. She must not cause any more trouble for Huo Chen.
She was not in the right position anyway.
She then smiled, “I see—Thanks for telling me,” and dragged her steps to the other side of the corridor, at which she saw…
“Huo Chen…?” Wen He slowed down upon spotting Huo Chen having a conversation with the female nurse tightly wrapped in her uniform—rather passionately…
She could not hear their conversation but she could see the doctor gradually approaching him, nearly falling into his embrace.

Even though she could not hear what they spoke, she could tell a lot from Huo Chen’s change of expression. He was smiling. Smiling brightly too.
The doctor looked happy with him.
It hurt. It seriously hurt for Wen He to witness all this.
She was not sure, however, if the heart-wrenching feeling in her was due to envy for the doctor, rage for the sense of betrayal or the fact that she realized that Huo Chen was not cold to everybody and therefore she was never the special one.
“Feeling heartbroken?” Said Gu Jinzhi from her back, causing Wen He to quickly turn to him, nearly kissing him. She backed away clumsily, not forgetting to glare at the naughty man while panting, with her hands against the wall. She scurried away from the scene gracelessly.
Gu Jinzhi knew what the girl saw. He glanced upon Huo Chen with a look of taunting disdain before chasing after Wen He, “Wait for me, Wen He! You forget your Romeo here.”
Wen He immediately fell upon her bed when she got back to her room. The scene of the doctor getting hanky panky with Huo Chen effeminated like poisonous gas intoxicating her sanity, gradually growing distorted, exaggerated into something rather indecent in her mind.
Yet she closed her eyes.

“Honey, shoulder to cry on for free today, would you like one?” Said Gu Jinzhi with a laid-back posture against the door.

The doctor disdainfully announced her recovery and the possibility of getting discharged in a week, with a reminder that she still had to watch her action.
Throughout the entire time she was admitted, never once Huo Chen came and visited her.
She could only wait, as if a criminal about to be executed in the jail, for the date of judgement when Huo Chen confirmed their divorce.
Finally, three more days later, Yang Yi contacted her as he sent his man there.
It was not about her freedom, it was not about the date of their divorce.
Quite the contrary…
“WHY?” She asked, utterly bewildered.
Yang Yi’s assistant hesitated for a moment before breaking the news to Wen He, “General Huo has headed out for a mission. So you two can’t get divorced for the moment.”
“What?” Wen He nearly fell off from her bed, “What kind of mission? To where? What war? I didn’t see any news about conflict between countries. He just came back from a dangerous mission at Golden Triangle and now you guys are sending him out again? He’s a man. He’s not a donkey! Is he the only man left in the military or what?”

The questions were launched like a barrage as the person rubbed his head.
“Sorry but it’s all classified. The general did mention to discuss about your divorce after this. That’s all.” And before Wen He wanted to ask further, the person quickly left.
In her pajamas, she sat down very slowly. Her eyes lost their colors like her face.
Huo Chen was out for another adventure again. And this time, she was not informed at all. Obviously, she was no longer important to him.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.
Wen He lifted her head and saw the princess trying to act like a bad boy again leaning against the door frame.
Having known he was being watched, he snickered, “Hold your horses, girl! Don’t ask me to shut up just yet. You are informed about Huo Chen now, aren’t you? Well, I have some additional information about it. Would you want to hear it?”

“Heartless girl.” Gu Jinzhi rubbed his sore head and went to sit down on the sofa, legs crossed.
“So I heard that there’s something going on at the boundary between Country Z and T. The military of Country T is apparently intruding our country. On top of that, they seem to have formed an alliance with some terrorist groups as well. It’s a war they’re calling for. Clearly.”
“Boundary?” It was not a good reveal as Wen He frowned, “Why, of all men, Huo Chen then?”
Gu Jinzhi shrugged, “He’s a military serviceman. What else does he do?”
