Chapter 2970 - 2971: Jeweled Lid

Chapter 2970: Chapter 2971: Jeweled Lid

Now, the ground has become transparent, allowing a clear view of the situation below.

However, what can be seen is not the scenery beneath the Sea of Void Mirror; it is still the surface of the Sea of Void Mirror, a mirror reflection.

The difference from reflections elsewhere is that the reflection covered by the Heart Space is under the protection of the outer Mysterious Power and has not been shattered by the waves, and thus it remains.

In other words, as long as the Heart Space does not move, they can continuously observe the various events happening in the reflection before them.

This reflection displays the scene imprinted upon the mirror surface from somewhere in reality. Or rather, it is a time imprint of a certain mirror surface.

By observing the various phenomena in the reflection, it is equivalent to seeing the imprints left within the time a certain mirror surface existed.

At this moment, the mirror they are observing reflects all memories captured within the time the mirror existed—

The reflection shows a mirror placed on a balcony, facing the dining table of an affluent family.

At present, however, there are no people visible in the mirror, probably because it is not yet mealtime.

Just as Angel thought they might have to wait a long time to see any figures reflected in the mirror, Laplace pointed in the air, and a force merged into the reflection.

The entire reflection in the mirror accelerated in time, and within half a second, Angel saw several people sitting at the dining table.

From their attire, it seemed to be a small family, with parents and three children.

They sat at the dining table happily eating, chatting with one another, appearing full of warmth.

The time acceleration did not stop, and the reflection swiftly changed; the only constant was the mirror, faithfully recording each day and night of the family.

Angel watched as the middle-aged couple began to age, and the children grew up, got married, and had their own children, forming the next generation.

What was originally a small family had now become a large family, and even though the descendants lived in different places, there were always a few days each year when they gathered here, in front of this mirror, to reunite with the original parents.

Though time aged them, the warmth remained young.

On one day, the parents ceased to appear at the dining table, and while the descendants initially gathered around it, gradually they stopped coming.

This once warm family became cold and quiet, with the furniture gathering layers of thick dust.

After an unknown amount of time, a young man who bore some resemblance to the original parents entered this room, frowning deeply, seemingly discontented with the dust and cobwebs throughout the room.

In the end, the young man shook his head and left the room, never to return.

The dust on the mirror accumulated even more, and the world within the reflection grew increasingly blurred. Until one day, the house collapsed, stones fell heavily, and the balcony mirror was knocked down, dropping from inside to outside.

On the street, a large number of warhorses galloped past, pedestrians screamed and fled.

Angel couldn’t understand what they were saying, but he could tell—this might be... war coming.

Ultimately, a hurried man’s leather shoe shattered the fallen mirror, and with the breaking of the mirror, the reflection slowly vanished into chaos.

"What are your thoughts?" Laplace looked at Angel.

Angel: "It’s like watching a silent drama."

Laplace: "I’m asking about the reflection itself, not the scene within."

The reflection itself... Angel stroked his chin, pondering: "Unaffected by the waves, allowing a complete view of the memories existing at a certain point in time, it’s quite interesting and valuable."

Angel understood what Laplace meant; it was indeed a fascinating discovery, at least for him, holding considerable value with promising possibilities for the future.

This time, they observed the life of an ordinary person through the mirror, which might not reveal much, but what if next time they encountered a reflection that could capture extraordinary phenomena? Wouldn’t that be akin to glimpsing the life of an Extraordinary Creature through the mirror? They might even glean useful knowledge from an Extraordinary Creature’s life, which would be a substantial gain.

However, valuable as it may be, the premise is... Angel has a way to find similar reflections and to accelerate, decelerate, or pause the reflections.

If he couldn’t find similar reflections, or if they couldn’t quickly locate the "knowledge" within the segments of the reflection, it would be of little value.

With these thoughts, Angel voiced his doubts.

Laplace: "The two questions you’ve raised, Glaipnir can help you resolve."

Glaipnir’s Astrology can predict where similar reflections are; and since Glaipnir is Laplace’s Temporal Body, it naturally possesses the ability to hasten the reflection process.

After a pause, Laplace added: "I can have Glaipnir assist you, once or twice, but if you want her to always help you, you’ll have to find a way to speak with her yourself."

Angel pondered for a moment and nodded: "Alright."

Acquiring knowledge from reflections in the Sea of Void Mirror is not a high priority. It’s unknown what knowledge could be gained anyway.

Moreover, rather than acquiring new knowledge, Angel should focus on digesting and consolidating the knowledge already in his mind.

Therefore, Angel was in no hurry.

After discussing this "little matter," Angel was prepared to ask Laplace about the so-called test.

However, before he could ask, Angel’s peripheral vision caught sight of the reflection on the ground.

Since the previous reflection of the "ordinary family’s life" ended, no new changes appeared in the reflection below, and it remained in chaos, completely unlike the other reflections in the Sea of Void Mirror.

Elsewhere, reflections would quickly refresh after breaking, one moment showing majestic mountains and flowing waters, the next the shadows of an Earth Cavern; such changes were common.

But why... "Doesn’t this reflection refresh after it disappears?"

Angel curiously inquired of Laplace.

Laplace nodded: "Other reflections constantly refresh due to the existence of the waves. But the Mysterious Aura outside the Heart Space wards off the waves, so they naturally won’t refresh."

In the Sea of Void Mirror, the waves are a great terror, but they do not solely obliterate. While destroying, they also grant the mirror surface new life, thus constantly changing the reflections in the Sea of Void Mirror.

Places free from the waves may be safe, but they become more silent.

"Is this considered a kind of price?" Angel murmured softly.

Laplace: "It can be understood that way. Compared to the benefits gained, this small price is negligible."

Because the Heart Space can move, if the reflections do not refresh here, it can take the Heart Space elsewhere. So, though it’s called a price, it poses no significant risk.

"Indeed." Angel paused, then looked at Laplace and said, "Could the main theme of the Mirror Domain be—destruction and rebirth?"

Whether it is the Immortal Mirror Sea or the Sea of Void Mirror, it seems to be between destruction and rebirth?

Laplace shook her head: "I can’t answer that because I don’t know either. However, it’s probably not the case."

"Just like the psychological boundary I mentioned earlier, you also have such a psychological boundary. What you see of the Mirror Domain is less than one ten-thousandth of what ordinary mirror creatures see. What you call a conclusion is just what you think."

In other words, not only is your knowledge limited, but you love to overthink.

After listening, Angel felt a bit embarrassed. He couldn’t even define the Wizards’ Realm where he lived, and here he was trying to define a special world broader than the Wizard Level, spanning countless planes. He was indeed a bit presumptuous.

As Angel was feeling sheepish, Laplace suddenly said, "Let’s end other topics here for now. The time for testing has come."

The time for testing? Angel looked at Laplace with curiosity.

Laplace: "Weren’t you curious about what I meant by testing? Look over there and you’ll know."

Angel followed the direction Laplace pointed. At first, he saw nothing but dissipating reflections and layer upon layer of waves.

It wasn’t until the waves surged that Angel noticed something different this time.

At the crest of the surging waves, something was creating ripples.

Angel couldn’t discern its form, but he knew it was being carried by the waves, heading towards the Heart Space.

"Is this... a physical object?!"

Laplace nodded: "That’s right."

Occasionally, physical objects get washed into the Sea of Void Mirror. Some come from the Sea Eye, while others accidentally enter the Sea of Void Mirror from outside the mirror surface. For example, Old Stone was a physical object Laplace obtained from the Sea of Void Mirror.

Physical objects that can last in the Sea of Void Mirror are almost always valuable.

Therefore, the Ancient Tooth Fairy put in great effort to invent the "Art of Seeking" to source goods from the Sea of Void Mirror.

Apart from physical objects, sometimes life forms are also washed in. A human calling himself Dudubi, suspected to be Yagluo, from the City of Hot Gold, entered the Mirror Domain from the Sea of Void Mirror.

At this moment, the object rushing towards the Heart Space with the waves looked like it wasn’t a life form. If it was, it would be too small.

Angel carefully observed, and only when it was about to reach the Heart Space did he finally confirm.

It was a lid.

A golden circular lid adorned with rubies and sapphires, with a protruding top on which hung a broken golden chain.

It didn’t look like anything worthwhile, but the rubies and sapphires were emitting a faint glow, possibly energy gemstones.

"Is the test this time... to capture physical objects?" Angel seemed to grasp the idea, looking at Laplace.

Laplace nodded: "Yes, if you want the Heart Space to function more effectively in the Sea of Void Mirror, capturing physical objects would be a good test."

The reason Laplace wanted to conduct this test was that she had previously noticed that although the Heart Space lacked Spirit Intelligence, it had a very vague standard for judgment.

It actively repels anything that threatens its sturdiness, like waves or the destructive force of the Immortal Mirror Sea.

But for external objects that do not threaten its sturdiness, including energy, as long as the owner agrees, it wouldn’t obstruct them.

For example, Laplace tested in the Immortal Mirror Sea, and as long as she actively lifted the Heart Space’s restrictions, the dense Aggregation Energy outside could penetrate the Heart Wall and enter the inner space.

Such a flexible Heart Space, capable of warding off the waves of the Sea of Void Mirror, sparked a new test idea for Laplace.

If they actively lifted the restrictions, could the physical objects from the Sea of Void Mirror enter the Heart Wall?

Because the Sea of Void Mirror in other places occasionally had Ancient Tooth Fairies who loved to source goods there, Laplace came to the Sea of Void Mirror beyond the psychological boundary, waiting for the appearance of a physical object.

And their luck was good. In this place, almost never visited by mirror creatures, a physical object quickly floated up.

Although it was just a lid that seemed not very valuable, for an initial test, the focus was not on the specific object but on whether they could lift the Heart Wall’s limits, block waves, and not block the object.

If successful, the value of the Heart Space would rise significantly.

Of course, this significant value increase was only relevant to Angel.

Angel also understood Laplace’s idea and proactively released the Heart Wall’s restrictions, quietly waiting for the jeweled lid carried by the waves.

Soon, the waves reached near the Heart Space.

As before, all waves were separated by a mysterious aura as they approached the Heart Space, unable to get closer.

However, the jeweled lid that came with the waves was left outside the protection formed by the mysterious aura.

It just stayed outside the protection, and they couldn’t figure out how to let the jeweled lid enter the Heart Space...

In fact, the reason the jeweled lid wasn’t washed away was that Angel deliberately allowed the mysterious aura to intercept it, but it was only able to intercept, not directly deliver it into the Heart Space.

"It seems that only energy can make the Heart Wall permeable; physical objects can’t pass through the Heart Wall directly." Laplace sighed softly.

After the sigh, Laplace reached her hand out and gently passed through the Heart Wall.

Under the wash of the outside waves, she slowly pulled the jeweled lid into the Heart Space.

Although the jeweled lid entered the Heart Space, it was because Laplace was unafraid of the waves and dared to reach out to the outside. If it were Angel, it would be impossible.

Initially thinking the Heart Space could automatically draw in physical objects, even if no one was controlling it, it could act as a "fishing net," just left in the Sea of Void Mirror, to be collected after some time.

But since it couldn’t automatically draw in physical objects, this test was deemed a failure.

After all, Laplace couldn’t stay in the Heart Space forever.

"Even though this test failed, it’s still quite good. At the very least, this Heart Space of yours can be called a Holy Land for mirror creatures already," Laplace said while handing the jeweled lid to Angel.

"I never planned on turning the Heart Space into a Holy Land," Angel muttered under his breath, focusing his attention on the jeweled lid.
