Chapter 4018: Finding A Hidden Section Of The Vault

Chapter 4018: Finding A Hidden Section Of The Vault

Lin Mu continued walking through the vault while spreading his Immortal Sense carefully.

The vault was larger than it appeared from outside.

Rows upon rows of storage formations extended through the surrounding chambers. Some contained ancient treasures, others held records, and many were sealed behind layers of restrictions that even the Wild Peak elders rarely bothered to investigate.

The Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect had existed for countless years and a place like this naturally accumulated secrets. Lin Mu’s gaze swept over the formations one by one. His mind quietly searched through everything he remembered from Taegong’s memories and his own observations.

Where would the Justice Crushing Cestus be kept?

It was a special item and something used for punishment and judgment would certainly have its own storage location. If Taegong had already prepared it for Little Bull, then he would have needed access to it.

That narrowed the possibilities considerably as Lin Mu slowed his steps. His expression gradually became more serious and The elders behind him noticed the change.

High elder Palm Saber asked, "Senior Zhenyu, have you discovered something?"

Zhenyu did not answer immediately as he stopped in front of a seemingly ordinary section of the vault. There was nothing unusual about it, at least, nothing obvious. Lin Mu quietly examined the formation before him.

Then his eyes narrowed as there was a faint difference in the energy circulation. It was extremely faint, so faint that an ordinary cultivator would never notice it. But Lin Mu had spent far too much time studying formations and spatial structures to overlook something like this.

’A hidden storage formation.’ His lips curled into a faint smile.

Perhaps today would turn out to be even more interesting than he had expected.

"Palm Saber," Zhenyu finally said, his voice carrying the weight of an ancient elder who had just remembered something important, "there are many things inside this vault that your generation has forgotten."

Palm Saber looked confused and Zhenyu raised his hand toward the formation. "And this old man has always disliked forgotten things."

Lin Mu’s fingers moved and the formation trembled. The elders watched with growing curiosity as ancient patterns began appearing across the surface. For a moment, Lin Mu’s eyes gleamed.

If the Justice Crushing Cestus was still here, he had just found a very convenient way to make Taegong’s unfinished scheme become another piece of evidence. And if it was gone, that would tell him something equally useful.

Either way, the vault was about to reveal another secret.

Lin Mu’s fingers moved slowly across the formation before him, tracing several lines that were nearly invisible even to the Immortal Sense of the elders standing nearby. He had already noticed that the circulation of energy in this section of the vault was strange, though the more closely he examined it, the more elaborate the concealment appeared.

Whoever had constructed the formation had gone to great lengths to make it seem like an ordinary reinforcement array connected to the walls of the vault.

There were no obvious locks, no warning inscriptions, and no separate source of Immortal Qi that might have betrayed the existence of another chamber. The formation borrowed energy from the surrounding arrays and circulated it through the vault before returning it along the same pathways, allowing it to disappear among thousands of other formation lines.

’It is quite clever.’ Lin Mu thought.

Unfortunately for whoever had created it, Lin Mu had already discovered the entrance. Zhenyu’s fingers suddenly stopped and a faint pulse spread from his palm. In the next moment, the wall trembled.

High Elder Palm Saber narrowed his eyes as the seemingly solid stone surface rippled like water.

Formation runes began appearing one after another, spreading outward from Zhenyu’s hand in circles. There were hundreds at first, then thousands, each connecting to another until an enormous formation diagram covered nearly the entire wall while the elders stared.

"There’s actually a formation here?" one of them muttered.

Before anyone could answer, a deep rumbling sound echoed through the vault.

KARANG~

The wall split down the center.

Two enormous sections of stone slowly moved apart, revealing a dark passage behind them. Yet the darkness lasted only a moment as the instant the entrance fully opened, formations within the hidden chamber awakened one after another, filling the passage with pale golden light.

The elders went silent and even Palm Saber looked genuinely confused.

"This place..." he murmured as he realized he had never seen it.

That alone was enough to make several elders uncomfortable. While no single elder knew every detail concerning Wild Peak’s vault, there were people who were supposed to know its important sections.

The Peak Head naturally possessed the highest authority and had access to information unavailable to ordinary elders.

Several High Elders were also entrusted with knowledge of restricted storage areas in case something happened to the Peak Head or the vault needed to be opened during an emergency.

High Elder Palm Saber was one of them, along with two other High Elders who were standing nearby as well. Yet all three were staring into the newly revealed passage with equally blank expressions.

"I have never heard of this place," one of the High Elders finally admitted.

High Elder Palm Saber frowned. "Neither have I."

Another elder looked between them. "Could Peak Head Mountain Roar have known about this?"

High Elder Palm Saber remained silent for several breaths before slowly shaking his head. "I cannot say for certain, but I doubt it. The Peak Head showed me the restricted sections personally when I became a High Elder. He explained which areas were known only to the Peak Head and which required special authorization. He never mentioned anything like this."

That made the atmosphere considerably heavier.

Zhenyu glanced back at them and snorted. "Of course he didn’t."

The answer immediately made everyone look toward him. Lin Mu gave them nothing else and he simply walked into the passage, while the elders hurried after him. They didn’t know if there were some traps still here, or something that might cut them off, so they didn’t want to lose the elder.
