Chapter 4009: The Earth Sea Tyrant Returns to Wild Peak

Chapter 4009: The Earth Sea Tyrant Returns to Wild Peak

Lin Mu did not immediately enter. Instead, he hovered outside and listened.

The commotion inside was obvious and there were too many voices. Some were young, and some were old, clearly belonging to the disciples as well as the elders. The voices overlapped so heavily that even Lin Mu had trouble distinguishing individual conversations.

He narrowed his eyes and focused.

Gradually, the words became clearer. "Mengli Zhenyu?"

"Is this really a Junior Elder of our peak?"

"I have never heard of that name."

"How could someone from so long ago suddenly return?"

"Was he really the one who fought Daoist Bone Ruler?"

"I heard he broke the Bone Ruler."

"That’s impossible."

"I heard he raised a mountain straight into the heavens."

"I heard he raised the entire sea and turned it into an ocean."

Lin Mu’s mouth twitched. ’People certainly know how to exaggerate.’

He continued listening and the discussion quickly confirmed his suspicion.

The entire peak had already learned about his return. Lin Mu had expected the news to spread. He had not expected the entire Wild Peak to gather together to discuss him. He looked toward the main hall and a faint smile appeared on his face.

’Interesting.’ He remained outside for another minute.

He could have entered immediately but he chose to wait. There was something satisfying about listening to people discuss you while standing right outside the door. Especially when half of them were clearly wondering whether you actually existed.

Lin Mu almost laughed.

Then he heard someone say, "Perhaps this Mengli Zhenyu is merely someone using an ancient name."

Another voice responded, "Daoist Bone Ruler personally fought him. Do you think someone could fool him?"

"Then what kind of cultivation did this Junior Elder have?"

There was a brief silence.

Someone answered uncertainly, "At least Transcendent."

Another voice immediately responded, "At least?"

The first speaker hesitated. "Perhaps much higher."

Lin Mu’s smile widened as that was enough. He had heard everything he needed. He turned toward the main hall and his eyes gleamed.

Then he raised his hand.

Boom!

The enormous doors of the main hall were thrown open. The sudden sound shook the entire chamber as every voice stopped and hundreds of people turned around. The entire hall became silent.

Lin Mu stood at the entrance with his hands behind his back.

Swoosh~

His long beard moved slightly as he walked inside.

"It isn’t polite to talk behind someone’s back." His voice was calm, yet it carried through the entire hall.

The disciples stared and several elders immediately stood. The atmosphere changed in an instant while Lin Mu slowly walked forward.

Every step resounded through the hall.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

The sound seemed strangely loud. His aura remained restrained, yet the pressure surrounding him was impossible to ignore. The disciples closest to the entrance instinctively stepped aside.

Lin Mu’s eyes swept across the crowd and he recognized many familiar faces. There were disciples he had previously encountered. There were elders whose appearances he remembered from his earlier investigations and those with whom he had feasted.

There were also several faces he had never seen.

That was hardly surprising as even Lin Mu had not met everyone from the peak in his time as Little Bull. His gaze eventually settled on the elders. High Elder Palm Saber was present. Several other High Elders were there as well.

Yet one familiar name was absent: High Elder Shatter Peak.

Lin Mu already knew why. The man was still undergoing punishment imposed by the Law Division.

Lin Mu’s eyes narrowed slightly. ’That is convenient.’

He already knew the details of the matter. Still, having the person involved absent meant he could hear the story from everyone else before seeing him. That would be useful. Lin Mu continued walking while the elders stared at him.

Some had already recognized him while others were still trying to comprehend what they were seeing.

One of the younger disciples finally whispered, "Who is that?"

Several High Elders immediately glanced toward him. Their expressions were complicated as they knew, or rather, they knew who he was supposed to be.

’Our predecessor.’

An elder who had vanished long before most of their great, great, great, great grandparents had even been born.

’Mengli Zhenyu, The Earth Sea Tyrant.’

Lin Mu stopped before the gathered elders and he looked around before his eyebrows rose.

"What?" His voice became slightly louder. "Has my Wild Peak forgotten its manners?"

The disciples looked at each other and nobody answered right away. The elders also remained silent and it became awkward. Lin Mu stared at them and the atmosphere became increasingly tense.

Then, from somewhere among the disciples, a quiet voice emerged. "What manners? Are we supposed to have any for our peak?"

Everyone heard it.

After all, Wild Peak was filled with body cultivators and their hearing was naturally far beyond ordinary cultivators.

Lin Mu’s head turned.

"Who said that?" His voice boomed through the hall.

The disciple who had spoken visibly stiffened and several people looked at him. He hesitated for a moment, then he stepped forward.

"I, I did."

Lin Mu stared at him and the disciple’s throat tightened. Yet he stood straight, and that alone made Lin Mu feel a little amused.

’Wild Peak truly has not changed since Zhenyu’s time.’ Lin Mu compared it from the memories.

"And what did you say?" Lin Mu asked, turning to the disciple.

The disciple swallowed. "I said we haven’t been taught any manners for our peak."

Lin Mu frowned and the silence deepened. For a moment, everyone expected him to become angry and the disciple’s expression became increasingly nervous. Then Lin Mu’s face changed.

His mouth opened.

"Hahaha!" His laughter exploded through the hall and the walls seemed to vibrate.

Several disciples stared in confusion.

Lin Mu laughed freely, his hand resting on his stomach as his beard shook.

"Good!" He finally calmed down. "Very good!" He looked around the hall. "It feels good to see that my Wild Peak has not changed."
