Chapter 3823: A Four Armed Drummer Monkey
Chapter 3823: A Four Armed Drummer Monkey
The forests beneath became a flowing blur as Mountains rapidly fell behind.
Lin Mu found himself smiling. "This is actually rather enjoyable."
Without using a single trace of Qi, he crossed incredible distances using nothing but raw physical strength. Little Bull’s identity remained perfectly intact. Any observer would simply assume this was the natural movement technique of someone possessing monstrous physical power.
Several minutes passed peacefully as the forests grew denser. Immortal beasts occasionally sensed his passing, though none managed to react before he had already moved beyond their territories.
Then something suddenly exploded from the branches ahead.
"BUIIIII!" A shrill cry echoed through the forest.
Lin Mu barely had time to turn his head as a furry figure slammed directly into him mid leap.
THUD!
The collision echoed through the mountains. But the attacking beast bounced backward like a ball striking solid steel. It spun several times through the air before crashing into another tree as leaves rained down everywhere.
Lin Mu himself merely shifted slightly before landing atop another enormous branch. He looked toward the attacker. The creature quickly scrambled upright while angrily beating its chest.
It resembled a monkey. Though unlike ordinary monkeys, this one possessed four powerful arms supporting a muscular upper body while standing upon two sturdy legs while its crimson fur covered broad shoulders and unusually thick forearms.
Long fangs protruded from its snarling mouth and the most striking of all was its expression. It looked utterly furious. The beast pointed one of its four arms toward Lin Mu before letting out another furious cry.
"BUIIIII!"
Lin Mu blinked. "...Sorry?"
The monkey only became angrier. It repeatedly slapped its own chest before pounding all four fists against the tree. Apparently Lin Mu had unknowingly entered its territory. Or perhaps interrupted something important.
Either way... The beast clearly wanted a fight.
Lin Mu sighed. "I really don’t have time for this."
He gently waved one hand. "Go away."
The monkey froze for exactly one second. Then its eyes became even redder.
"BUIIIIIII!"
The beast moved with astonishing speed for its size. All four of its muscular arms were clenched into fists as it threw itself forward with reckless abandon, its face twisted into an indignant expression that made it look more offended than murderous.
"BUIIIII!"
Its battle cry echoed through the forest as all four fists descended at once.
Boom!
The impact sent a powerful shockwave through the surrounding trees as leaves exploded into the air and several nearby branches snapped under the force. Yet when the dust settled, Lin Mu remained standing exactly where he had been.
His feet had not shifted even half an inch.
The monkey, meanwhile, bounced backward as though it had punched a mountain. It flipped several times through the air before grabbing onto a thick tree trunk with all four arms. The beast stared at its own fists before glaring at Lin Mu.
"BUI!"
Without waiting another moment, it attacked again.
This time its movements became far more complicated.
Using all four arms, it swung from branch to branch with incredible agility before appearing above Lin Mu. Two fists descended from overhead while the remaining pair struck toward his ribs.
Lin Mu calmly raised both hands.
Thud!
Thud!
He caught two fists with ease. His shoulders shifted slightly as he redirected the remaining two attacks away from his body. The monkey landed on a branch, only to immediately kick off once again.
Punch after punch followed.
Its attacks were surprisingly disciplined. Each of its four arms moved independently, creating combinations that would have overwhelmed most opponents.
The monkey alternated between wide swings, quick jabs and heavy downward smashes, constantly changing rhythm so that no pattern remained consistent.
Lin Mu blocked every strike without effort. Sometimes he merely raised an elbow. Sometimes he shifted a shoulder. Occasionally he redirected an entire arm with a single finger. To him, the beast’s strength was honestly rather average.
It possessed cultivation comparable to a Third Tribulation Stage Immortal, which certainly qualified it as a powerful immortal beast. Against ordinary immortals, it would be a troublesome opponent.
Against Lin Mu... Its attacks barely qualified as exercise.
Eventually the monkey threw all four fists together.
Boom!
Lin Mu finally responded.
He extended one palm as the monkey’s four fists collided against it. A tremendous force rebounded through its body and the beast flew backward like a stone launched from a catapult, crashing through several trees before rolling across the forest floor.
Several moments later it climbed back onto its feet. Its eyes remained filled with anger. It clearly had no intention of giving up.
"I already told you." Lin Mu sighed. "I don’t want to fight."
The monkey merely bared its teeth.
"BUI!"
It crouched once again. Lin Mu could already tell another attack was coming. He rubbed his forehead.
"I’m speaking the wrong way..."
Only then did he remember. For ordinary beasts, human language carried little meaning. He had a much better way.
Lin Mu slowly closed his eyes. Within his consciousness, the familiar scriptures of the Nurturing Heart Sutra flowed once more. A gentle aura spread throughout his body. Unlike the fierce and domineering aura of his Body Cultivation, this energy felt calm, peaceful and full of life.
The surrounding forest itself seemed to quieten. The rustling leaves became softer. Even the nearby insects lowered their buzzing. A faint pink glow briefly flickered within Lin Mu’s eyes before disappearing.
He opened his mouth again.
But this time... His voice no longer sounded human.
It came out as a deep, resonant growl mixed with countless subtle tones that somehow carried clear meaning. It sounded like the language of beasts themselves.
"I have no wish to fight."
The monkey had already prepared to leap.
Yet the instant it heard those words... It froze.
Its four arms slowly lowered as its eyes widened.
"You..." The monkey blinked several times. "You can use Beast Tongue?"
"I can." Lin Mu answered calmly in the same beastly language.
The monkey stared at him in disbelief and its hostility visibly diminished. Instead curiosity slowly replaced it.
