Chapter 2843: Meng Bai's Skill Growth

Having seen what had happened, Lin Mu let out a breath.

"Thank you for your help, Saintess," he said once more.

"It's fine." The Saintess didn't mind, as it hadn't required much effort on her part either.

"Oh yeah, since everyone gained some benefits from it… Did you get some too, Saintess?" Lin Mu asked curiously.

"Unfortunately, I'm at a point where it won't help me." The Saintess shook her head.

"I see." Lin Mu could understand, since the Saintess was a Celestial.

Rustle rustle rustle

The trees shook with the wind, and more leaves fell down, adding to the already present layers of leaves.

"I should get to cleaning," Lin Mu said. "Should be done by the time they wake up," he muttered.

"I'll leave you be," the Saintess said as she disappeared.

Lin Mu quickly got to the chores.

He reckoned it was the least he could do while the monks were busy with their meditation and possible breakthroughs.

'Dealing with the outside cultivators will also be a pain… Though I suppose I can leave that to the Elders and the Abbot,' Lin Mu thought to himself.

It didn't concern him directly, as it would be more of a political issue. It was up to the Green Lotus Temple to handle it.

He quickly engrossed himself in work, and in a few hours, he had cleared out all the streets of the Preaching Peak. With his speed and strength, little effort was needed, and he was not even tired.

With the Preaching Peak done, Lin Mu went to the Great Peak and did the same.

One by one, he cleaned all the peaks and even restocked the water barrels wherever they were empty.

But much to his surprise, even on the second day, no one seemed to have left the meditation hall.

'Wonder how long they will take…' Lin Mu mused as he made his way to the courtyard, where Meng Bai was training alone.

"Master!" Meng Bai exclaimed, surprised to see him.

He had been worried all this time, since Lin Mu and the other monks had not been seen for a month now.

"What happened? Where's everyone?" Meng Bai asked. "And what was happening everywhere for the entire month? The golden light?" he shot off a flurry of questions.

Sigh

Lin Mu let out a sigh and explained all that had happened.

"Whoa… such a thing can happen just from a breakthrough?" Meng Bai was stunned.

"Did it affect you too?" Lin Mu asked, reckoning it should have.

"Yeah, I felt really sleepy and passed out. When I woke up, I felt much better and suddenly understood all the formations I was having doubts with. My spear training also seems smoother," Meng Bai nodded.

"That's good." Lin Mu was pleased.

"Oh yeah! See this," Meng Bai said as he took out a thick stack of talismans he had made.

Lin Mu looked at them and blinked a few times.

"You made these?" Lin Mu was surprised.

"Yeah," Meng Bai confirmed.

"These are… good," Lin Mu muttered. "Almost perfect."

The talismans that Meng Bai had made were beyond what someone of his level should be able to produce. Normally, he was limited to talismans at the level of the Nascent Soul realm at most.

This was simply due to his cultivation base, not his skill.

But now, Lin Mu was seeing some talismans that even Dao Shell cultivators might find difficult to make.

"How did you make these?" Lin Mu couldn't help but ask.

"Like this," Meng Bai said as he picked up his brush.

He didn't even dip it into the ink. Instead, the ink seemingly rose out of the inkstone on its own and coated the brush. Then, when he drew, the ink flowed perfectly, as if Meng Bai had been doing this for decades.

Not a single splotch of ink or stray streak was seen.

The ink was absorbed perfectly and dried out almost instantly.

'Water control?' Lin Mu noted that there were hints of Dao Traces in Meng Bai's work, despite the fact that he was just at the Core Condensation realm.

Only Nascent Soul realm cultivators might be able to do something like this, due to the enhanced perception of their Nascent Soul, which allowed them to sense Dao Traces.

And yet, Meng Bai was doing it without even realizing it.

"How did you learn this?" Lin Mu asked.

"I don't know. It just happened on its own when I tried to make talismans. The ink moved as I wished," Meng Bai answered.

"Hmm…" Lin Mu furrowed his brows before he took out a small book. "Read this and see if you can use it," he said.

"Alright," Meng Bai picked up the small book.

The cover read: Minor Water Manipulation Technique.

It was a basic water element skill that allowed one to control water. Of course, it was not strong enough to be an offensive skill and was mostly meant as an introduction for a cultivator to learn the water element.

And yet, within just ten minutes, Meng Bai had finished reading the book and used the skill.

"Is it like this?" Meng Bai moved a finger, and water from a jug flew out.

It floated in front of him in the form of a sphere.

"Try changing its form," Lin Mu asked next.

"Hmm… like this?" Meng Bai willed it, and the water turned into various shapes like cubes, pyramids, and even some complex forms like a brush and a leaf.

"Was that good?" Meng Bai asked eagerly.

"It's perfect," Lin Mu said, surprised. "Wait… try this one." He took out another book.

Water General's Armament Technique, the book read.

This was an advanced water element skill that only experienced users could learn. While those at the Core Condensation realm could also learn it, it was still difficult and might take them a long time.

The recommended cultivation base for it was the Nascent Soul realm.

It contained a wide range of skills that were highly variable, making it useful for a cultivator all the way to the Dao Embryo realm or even the Immortal Ascension realm.
