Chapter 2817: Heading To The Green Lotus Temple

Chapter 2817: Heading To The Green Lotus Temple

The Black Vajra Monastery was situated far to the north, nestled in the heart of a snow-laden mountain range over four thousand kilometers from the Green Lotus Temple. Its isolation lent it an aura of mystery and severity.

In contrast, the Great Burden Monastery was located closer to the central part of the continent, westward from their current position. Surrounded by gentle hills and rivers, its environment was said to be more serene, reflecting the inner path of endurance it taught.

"You wished to visit these, if I recall correctly?" Monk Hushu asked with a knowing smile.

Lin Mu nodded, eyes still fixed on the map. "Yes. I think they might hold the key to completing one of my Body Cultivation Techniques."

"Which one is it?" Daoist Chu asked.

"It should be the Great Burden Monastery, but I'm not too sure." Lin Mu had only guessed this from the name.

"The Great Burden Monastery… Hmm." Monk Hushu seemed deep in thought while the Prefecture Lord appeared intrigued as well.

"Is there something peculiar about it?" Lin Mu asked.

"A bit, yes," Monk Hushu replied. "While the Great Burden Monastery answers to the Green Lotus Temple as its superior, they still operate independently due to their different nature. Gaining entry into their monastery is going to be a bit hard," he explained.

"Hard? Why?" Lin Mu asked.

"The monastery has been closed for nearly ten thousand years now," the Prefecture Lord answered this time.

"Closed? Why?" Lin Mu was confused. Niu Juo managed to visit it fine though, he thought.

"Well, it's not closed as in shut down. It just has closed its doors. As for the reason, we aren't totally sure either. They only said that they had some problems and would be closing their doors for the time being," Prefecture Lord Shiren explained. "It happened long before I was even born, so even I don't know the events surrounding it," the man added.

"Do you know more, Monk Hushu?" Lin Mu asked.

"I don't either. We'll have to ask the elder monks in the temple," Monk Hushu replied.

"I see," Lin Mu said, letting it be for now.

"I'll ask the elder monks for an entry permit for you. They should have the means to contact the monastery," Monk Hushu stated.

"That'll be good," Lin Mu nodded.

Lin Mu spent a few more minutes looking through the map, before copying it to his own jade slip for future reference.

"That'll be all," Lin Mu said.

"I was glad to be of help," Prefecture Lord Shiren replied.

"I suppose we can leave now," Lin Mu said.

"Yeah, let's get to the temple. I'll also be able to contact the Immortal Court from there," Daoist Chu added.

While they didn't need to worry about sending an emergency talisman message anymore—since the Osteri Divine Order had already been defeated—Daoist Chu still needed to report his own findings to them, as well as a few more matters.

"I'll call in a carriage for you," Lord Shiren offered.

"Ah, no need," Lin Mu replied. "It'll be much faster if we just fly there," he added.

"Oh, alright," the man nodded.

With that said, Lin Mu and the group got up and walked out into the open courtyard.

"Alright, Little Shrubby, time to fly out," Lin Mu said as the little feline quickly grew to its true form.

"What the…" The Prefecture Lord stumbled back, while the servants and attendants were alarmed.

No one had expected the small kitten to be such a fierce, large beast. They had all just considered it to be a small pet.

Under the stunned gazes of the Prefecture Lord and the others, Lin Mu's group got onto Little Shrubby's back.

"We'll be off then. Thank you for your hospitality, Lord Shiren," Lin Mu said as he patted Little Shrubby's back.

Whoosh

The beast turned into a red blur and flew off into the distance.

"So… so fast," Lord Shiren muttered. 'No wonder they didn't want the carriage. It'd be like traveling on the back of a slow tortoise,' he understood.

Little Shrubby flew through the violet mist, causing it to part like two large curtains.

"Whoa." Meng Bai felt strangely refreshed, and the scene of the dancing mist was rather enchanting. "It feels so nice," he muttered.

"The mist here is rather invigorating for sure," Daoist Chu nodded.

"There's the Great Urim Lake in the temple, where you can cultivate for even better effects," Monk Hushu informed. "The mist there is the densest," he added.

"Sounds good," Lin Mu said, looking forward to it.

While flying, though, he thought of something.

'Niu Juo called the Silent Lotus World a small Immortal World… was he just mistaken?' Lin Mu couldn't help but wonder.

From the man's words, it didn't seem like he had explored much of the world and probably hadn't even seen the map. So it was rather easy to be mistaken.

It was a minor matter that Lin Mu didn't care much about and quickly forgot. He simply enjoyed the scenery as they flew through the mist. A while later, they could finally see the outline of the mountains in the distance.

"That's where the Green Lotus Temple is," Monk Hushu said, pointing to one of the mountains.

Within it, one could faintly make out the golden glimmer of pagodas. They were hidden by the mist, but their shimmer simply could not be concealed.

And a few minutes later, it became fully clear, and the total expanse of the temple was revealed.

It wasn't just one mountain, but four mountains that were covered in golden multistoried pagodas, temples, shrines, and many buildings. It looked more like a city than just a singular temple.

Among the four mountains, the one in the center was the largest, standing at nearly seven thousand meters tall. Its top was covered in thick snow and reflected the violet hue of the sky above.

As they grew closer, Lin Mu could feel the atmosphere change.

A serene aura filled the entire area that was not only rich with Qi but also filled with the faint chants of countless monks.
