Alex asked as he continued to rub.
He keenly smelled that the scent of blood in the air had grown stronger again. He stopped rubbing, leaving his palm resting on the little female’s abdomen without moving. Seeing that she wasn’t showing any discomfort, he relaxed.
Watson had told him that the females of some smaller ethnic groups would bleed during their heat, but her blood loss was just too great.

She found it was surprisingly easy to talk to Alex about this. He might not understand her physiology yet, but he immediately grasped the regularity of her cycle.
"If I’m healthy, it’s regular," Gu Ning said.
Since Alex could understand, she decided to explain it to him properly.
"Every month, there must be a five-day bleeding period," Gu Ning told him, trying to use the simplest terms possible. "It has to be regular for my body to be healthy."
Alex understood at once. He activated the device on his wrist, checked the date, and made a note of when her bleeding period would be next month.
He draped the clothes over Gu Ning, then lifted her onto his lap. "You told me yesterday that we could sleep together after your heat was over. Can you tell me why we can’t sleep together during your heat?"
Alex was using "sleep together" as a euphemism for "mate," thinking she would be more comfortable with that term.
’The little female is too shy about this. I wonder if it has something to do with her upbringing.’
Hearing his words, which sounded like a reminder, Gu Ning blushed and said, "Sleeping together during the bleeding period is bad for my body. It’s not healthy."
She might not have any personal experience, but her knowledge of biology was still sound.
Alex, of course, knew that since she was bleeding so heavily, her body would be in its most vulnerable state during this time, making such activities impossible. He was just asking because he wanted to understand her better.
"You’re talking about the bleeding period." Alex caught on to the fact that she was intentionally separating ’heat’ from ’bleeding period’. A thought occurred to him. "Your heat isn’t just these five days of bleeding, is it?"
Gu Ning met Alex’s gaze for a moment, then nodded. "Mhm."
She felt that Alex was just one right word away from completely understanding her cycle.
But it seemed that wasn’t necessary anymore, especially when Alex asked his next question: "Is your heat after your bleeding period?"

"Like what?" Alex’s voice grew even gentler. "Like this?"
He placed a kiss on her cheek.
Gu Ning froze.
"Or like this?" Alex pressed a soft kiss to her lips.
That kiss completely tore away the thin veil between her and Alex, forcing her to confront his feelings for her, no longer able to hide behind any excuse.
In that moment, Gu Ning’s heart hammered as if a motor had been installed in it, and her breathing grew ragged.
"Can I be like this, too?" Alex nuzzled the side of her face. "Be needed when you need me."
"For anything at all."
Gu Ning was silent for a few seconds before saying, "You..."
Alex: "Hmm?"
Gu Ning said dryly, "You already kissed me. What’s the point in asking now?"
Alex couldn’t help but chuckle, his heart melting at her words.
"My apologies. Forgive me this once." He kissed her again, his chest filled with a tremendous sense of happiness that threatened to overflow.
Gu Ning’s face was as red as a boiled shrimp. She lowered her eyelashes and mumbled, "Fine, I forgive you."
The corners of Alex’s eyes crinkled as he smiled and asked, "So, may I kiss you now?"
Gu Ning’s mind was still a mess. Her whole body felt hot and flustered, her throat was dry. She swallowed hard, and under Alex’s expectant gaze, she cupped his face and kissed him back.
Alex felt the soft touch that lasted only for an instant, a flash of surprise crossing his eyes.
"Hurry up and come out to eat!"
Barto’s voice rang out from outside the door again, followed by Vine’s and Leo’s:
"Not feeling well?"
"You have to eat even if you don’t want to get up. I’ll bring the food in for you."
"C-Coming! We’re coming out now!"
Gu Ning leaped off Alex’s lap as if escaping, running barefoot toward the door. She hadn’t taken two steps before he scooped her back.
"You haven’t put on your pants and shoes yet."
Gu Ning hurriedly pulled on her outer pants, slipped on her fluffy slippers, and opened the bedroom door.
Alex watched the little female’s flustered state with a smile and followed behind her.
The moment she opened the door, Gu Ning’s vision went dark.
Barto and the others were all blocking the doorway, their tall figures blocking out the light.
The instant the door opened, Barto, Leo, and the others, who had been pressed against it, straightened up. Their gazes swept over her like radar.
"M-Morning," Gu Ning said, raising a hand to greet them.
"What ’morning’?" Barto sniffed the scent of a certain male clinging to her and snorted. "Have you even looked at the time?"
"You sure can sleep in."
Leo looked at Alex with dissatisfaction and sneered.
Alex simply nodded at them. "Morning."
With a grim face, Vine shot a cold glance at Alex, who was standing behind her. He grabbed her wrist. "Time to eat."
Before he could pull Gu Ning away, Alex took her by the shoulders and guided her toward the bathroom. "Go wash up first."
