Chapter 286: Chapter 256: I Will Work Hard to Get It

"Your stomach?"

The doctor’s gaze fell to his abdomen. "Take off your shirt. Let me see the wound."

Philinos said, "...Just give me the medicine."

The doctor leaned back in his chair, twirling a pen in his hand, and pointed to the regulations on the left wall. "What do you think this is, a vegetable market? I’m a doctor, not a grocer. I can’t just give you whatever you want. I have to prescribe medicine that fits the diagnosis."

Besides, ever since Zone 15 was promoted to the Central District, regulations on things like medicine and weapons had become much stricter. Zone 15 was in a developmental phase. If they could get a handle on healthcare and security, they were just waiting for females to come and settle here.

Philinos turned his head to look at the regulations, which covered half the wall in enormous print. "..."

Thinking of the little female’s pained expression, he placed his hand on his knife.

The doctor noticed his movement and unhurriedly placed his own hand next to the call button on the desk.

Philinos looked down at his own abdomen, then turned and strode quickly out of the emergency room.

Watching his retreating back, the doctor sneered, "At least he knows when to quit." ’If he dared to cause trouble in the hospital, the Security Department isn’t just for show. They’d beat him until he had to be carried into the ER.’

’As long as they’re still breathing, I can save them.’

Two minutes later, Philinos returned to the emergency room, clutching his bleeding abdomen. He walked up to the doctor with a deadpan expression and said, "Give me painkillers."

The doctor was speechless. "..."

He stared at the fresh blood seeping from between the Beastman’s fingers and suggested, "Shouldn’t you go register for a neurology appointment?"

Philinos said, "The medicine."

The doctor tossed his pen down, stood up, and went to get gauze, antiseptic, and other supplies. He jutted his chin toward the medical bed. "Go sit down."

Philinos said, "I can bandage it myself. I just need the painkillers."

"Then what are you doing at a hospital?" the doctor said, holding a medical tray. "Is that person of yours going to die from the pain if you’re a few minutes late? Sit down. I’m bandaging your wound first."

Hearing this, the image of the little female’s pale face once again surfaced in Philinos’s mind.

Although he was frantic with worry, he knew he couldn’t rush things.

’If he could, he would have dragged this doctor back to examine her himself.’

He knew in his heart that the little female was just saying she was fine. She didn’t want to cause trouble for the team.

Clutching his wound, Philinos silently sat down on the edge of the medical bed.

The doctor first examined his wound. After the inspection, he gave him a hemostatic recovery agent injection. "You really went for it, huh?"

’At least he knew to stab himself instead of someone else, so he’s not all bad,’ the doctor grumbled internally.

"Our hospital has an open channel for Mixed Breeds. We can treat them," the doctor said as he bandaged Philinos’s wound. "Don’t do something so idiotic next time. Just bring your Mixed Breed here. We can treat any injury it has."

After a moment, the doctor added, "I can’t fix your brain, though. For that, turn left, take the elevator to the third floor, and register with neurology."

’For this guy to stab himself so decisively, the other person must be an important relative. And if they can’t come to the hospital themselves, they’re most likely a Mixed Breed.’

When Philinos heard him mention Mixed Breeds, he thought of something, and his expression darkened. "She’s not a Mixed Breed."

The doctor was even more confused. "Not a Mixed Breed? Then is she a relative or a friend? Doesn’t she have legs of her own? If she’s so badly injured she can’t move, then get a few people to carry her here."

Philinos said nothing.

The doctor didn’t press the issue. He skillfully finished bandaging the wound, wrote up a medical record, and gave him a prescription. "With your status as a Military Department soldier, 80% is reimbursable. Mixed Breeds can also be reimbursed, but they have to be under the same household registration."

Philinos said, "We’re not under the same household registration."

The doctor wasn’t surprised to hear that. A Mixed Breed under the same household registration could enjoy the protection of their guardian’s status, but the relative also had to assume guardianship responsibilities.

However, the problems that came with Mixed Breeds often outweighed the benefits they could enjoy, so most of them left the household registration after coming of age.

"I’ll work hard to get it," Philinos said in a low voice as he took the prescription.

The doctor was confused. ’Get what?’

Philinos ignored the doctor’s baffled expression and went to the pharmacy with the prescription.

There was almost no one at the pharmacy window, so he got the medicine quickly. He hurried out of the hospital and had just taken flight when a familiar whistle and scent reached him from somewhere behind.

Philinos froze and turned to look.

On the edge of a tall building not far away stood two familiar figures.

Seeing Windsor, Philinos felt a wave of relief and landed in front of her and Ah Mo.

"Teacher." Philinos bowed respectfully to the female before him. "I’m so glad you’re here. I was just about to look for you."

Windsor didn’t have a terminal, so he usually had no way to contact her; she always had to be the one to find him.

"What is it, Philinos?" Windsor asked, sensing his urgency. "Has something happened?"

Ah Mo sniffed the scent of blood and medicine on him and asked, "Chirp chirp?" (Little cub, are you badly injured?)

"It’s not me."

Philinos looked at Windsor and said, "Teacher, could you go see her? She’s... she’s not doing well."

Windsor and Ah Mo thought to themselves, ’As expected, something happened to Gu Ning.’

Windsor looked at the medicine bag in Philinos’s hand, thought for a moment, and said, "Is Ningning sick?"

Philinos said, "She’s... she’s in heat."

Windsor’s expression faltered for a second, but then she breathed a sigh of relief. It was better than an injury.

Ah Mo: "Chirp?" (What?)

Ah Mo poked Philinos’s chest with a wingtip, expressing utter disappointment. "Chirp chirp chirp!" (You’d better tell me you came to the hospital to get your head checked! The little female is in heat and you’re not by her side—what are you doing at a hospital?!)

Philinos said, "She’s bleeding."

Ah Mo: "Chirp chirp chirp chirp chirp!" (Did all your lessons go to the dogs?! Females from a small number of clans do bleed during their heat cycle.)

"That’s enough." Windsor stopped Ah Mo from continuing to scold Philinos. She said to the downcast Philinos, "Don’t worry, that’s a normal physiological phenomenon during a female’s heat cycle. What is Ningning’s condition right now? Is this her first time in heat?"

Philinos said, "I don’t think so. She told us it was nothing, and she seemed used to it. But she’s bleeding a lot, and she looks really uncomfortable. She said her stomach hurts, and she’s lethargic—much weaker than usual."

Windsor and Ah Mo exchanged a look. This didn’t sound like she was in heat; it sounded more like she was sick.

"What medicine did you get for her?" Windsor asked.

Philinos: "Painkillers and hemostatics."

Windsor: "...The hemostatics are for her, too?"

Philinos nodded.

Windsor sighed softly. ’This kid’s academic classes weren’t bad before, were they?’

Ah Mo: "Chirp." (Make him retake his physiology class.)

Meanwhile, after marking the surrounding area with his scent, Leo returned to the building.

He didn’t enter Gu Ning’s room. Instead, he crouched in the hallway, flipping through books related to a female’s heat cycle.

Two of his team members sidled up to him and asked, "Boss, what are you reading?"

Leo: "A book."

The pups exchanged a glance. ’When did the boss have a change of heart?’

’The boss almost always ranks last in the Military Department’s academic assessments and usually hates writing reports. And now he’s actually reading a book?!’
