Vampire's Slice Of Life

Chapter 1205: Battle of Generals

Chapter 1205: Battle of Generals

BOOM!

The ground exploded. The sky caved in.

Out emerged a thousand cavalries of cultivators with their spirit beasts, ready to wage war against vampires in elegant attires.

Standing at the front like an impenetrable fortress, the battle took place in the Ninth Pillar’s world which protected the rest of the Evure God Clan’s territory.

The Ninth Pillar, General Nicholas, stood at the battlefront and watched the charging cultivators with a sharp and calm demeanor.

For a general, he did not have the usual burly and robust build. Rather, General Nicholas was a lean and tall man, exuding quiet handsomeness with his androgynous appearance.

For a vampire, another unusual thing about him was his choice of weapon.

He stood upright, holding a blazing spear at the side twice his height.

The vampire army stood orderly behind him, focused, and disciplined, ready to attack at any moment’s notice.

A messenger appeared beside General Nicholas and whispered in his ears, "Sir, the council has issued a warning. There won’t be any reinforcements and we are to hold as much as possible until further notice."

General Nicholas gently combed his shiny silver hair behind and said, "Since when did we require reinforcements, James?"

"But sir, the enemy this time isn’t a single force. We are up against the entire Central Alliance and a mysterious unknown." The messenger James answered while wiping his sweaty forehead.

Spinning his spear at his side, General Nicholas replied, "It doesn’t matter who stands against us. My duty is to lead. Leave the worrying to others."

His spear stopped as he pointed it at the enemies.

"Squads. Positions Beta-8." The man said calmly but his voice boomed across the battlefield, audible to even the farthest soldier.

The army of vampires scattered and formed a traditional wedge formation with General Nicholas at the very tip.

The messenger hid himself from the battlefield and awaited further orders.

"Charge!"

Dust swept off the ground as General Nicholas dashed forwards.

Adrenaline surged through the battlefield as the two armies clashed.

From a bird’s eye view, a dot split off from the charging wedge and made a mad dash at the cultivators’ side.

BOOM—!

A huge chunk was blown off from the very front.

Blood and limbs scattered as thousands died from the single attack of General Nicholas.

"It’s the General!"

Cultivators immediately realized what was up as a war cry resounded throughout.

"Take the General’s head! Take the General’s head!"

The cultivators swiftly shifted and the strongest surrounded General Nicholas while the remaining focused on his army.

Entrapped in the middle with no way out, General Nicholas remained unmoved. His expression still had not changed and exuded utmost confidence.

"Only a fool would charge like that, General Nicholas." A cultivator sneered and pointed his axe at the man. "It’s over. I thought the war would result in heavy casualties but didn’t think that the enemy’s general would be so stupid to attempt suicide."

Another cultivator with a long beard stepped forward and said, "You Evures are nothing but talks. You sit on a throne of deception and act mighty. Today I’ve understood that it is naught but a false bravado upon which I spit."

General Nicholas’s eyes glanced at the old man. His spear rested comfortably at his side and he said in an unhurried tone, "It was fine until the ill speech criticized my unconventional methods. But spitting upon my clan’s honor..."

Wooshhhhh!

A strong breeze made everyone’s head reflexively turn. The moment they turned around, the cultivator with a long beard was reduced to a headless corpse.

There was no shouting, screaming, or begging for mercy. Straight death.

The cultivators gasped but their breaths grew more rapid as they saw the spear General Nicholas was holding by his side.

"Fuck!"

"How is this possible..."

The long bearded cultivator’s disdain-filled face was hooked on the spear tip.

He wasn’t even aware of his death!

The cultivators were immediately startled and took on a fierce defensive position, ready to strike if General Nicholas made even a single move.

General Nicholas stood still with an expression of calm like before. "There are a few things regarding my clan that I feel everyone is starting to forget."

He raised his index finger and glanced at the crowd standing in a circle.

"Even if you surround a lone soldier from the Evure God Clan, remember..."

The spear beside him spun at a speed not visible to the naked and disappeared.

Rapid air piercing sounds resounded in everyone like short whistles, following which nothing was audible and everything felt a blur for the people around General Nicholas.

Thud.

Thud.

Thud.

With soft thuds, heads rolled on the ground and the encirclement vanished.

General Nicholas stepped on one of the heads and pressed his foot, making the man’s eyes bulge.

"...the odds of surviving are still close to zero."

SPLASH—!

...

At the battlefield’s back line. Inside a tent, a group of cultivators in elegant daoist robes sat around a rectangular sand table.

As harsh as it seemed, there was a giant hole in their side’s troops and the enemy was still in a wedge formation, attacking at their slab-like formation consisting of thrice the amount of soldiers.

"What’s going on!?!" A bald man with a burly figure seated at the sides broke his armrest and scowled.

A lady in green robes sat in the head position at the end of the table and calmly took a sip of tea.

"The consequences of underestimating the enemy. That’s what is going on." She said while gently glancing at the single tea leaf in her cup.

A cultivator seated close to the lady leaned at the sides and commented with a yawn, "More like, it was underestimating General Jin Yuanying’s competency."

The group of cultivators in the room fell silent upon hearing such a careless remark.

It was not without context.

Jin Yuanying was the youngest cultivator in the room and also the newest appointed General. She had no prior role in the Central Alliance’s military operations so her sudden appointment was not well taken by all.

The Division Commanders under her undermined her authority and did not properly heed her commands. Getting them court martialed for this was not an option as there was a serious need for manpower.

Shen Ze was highly unstable as of this moment with the fall of the Asura God Clan.

There was internal panic in all places along with a civil unrest in not only the Evure God Clan but also the Central Alliance.

Central Alliance, as the name suggested, was made up of many different sects and clans. With so many different forces present, there were also a lot of differences.

This meant a lot more discord and a lot more internal struggle for power.

If it wasn’t for the Qing Mei Sect being almost on par with the previously existing Asura God Clan and the current Evure God Clan, the Central Alliance would’ve been without a leader.

Qing Mei Sect was an absolute authority and every decision of theirs could not be refuted.

They held such power that even if the rest of the Central Alliance banded together, they couldn’t defeat them.

Hence, when the Qing Mei Sect suddenly appointed Jin Yuanying as the fourth General, none could refute or protest. But this did not mean there wasn’t any resentment.

Resentment led to many Division Commanders taking matters into their own hands, eventually resulting in their current predicament where they lost a few Legendary Rank Squad Captains and many Supreme Rank cultivators.

The sword cultivator who spoke up was not trying to bootlick the General, but he strongly believed that the Qing Mei Sect wasn’t stupid to appoint a nobody as one of the important figures leading the war.

The sword cultivator’s wife was a member of the Qing Mei Sect so his opinions were a bit biased, but bias did not mean being wrong, did it?

The man yawned again and slumped as he got bored of the people’s reaction.

It was the same old ’do not listen to superiors, get bitchslapped’ trope for him. A tale as old as time.

In the uncomfortable silence, General Jin Yuanying’s sharp eyes glanced at the sand table and she could see a lone enemy’s figure taking out multiple squads.

The enemy’s army was also doing a good job at cutting and bleeding them slowly.

Holding her teacup with both hands, she took a small sip and felt the tea’s warmth relaxing her body and mind.

She put the cup down and glanced at the Division Commanders.

"The current losses will be documented and each of you will be asked for an explanation. On top of it, if I court martial you all, the consequences would be dire."

The Division Commanders glanced at the sand table and did not dare to meet the General’s gaze.

"What’s done is done, and your apologies mean nothing, so don’t bother with it. From here onwards, what I say is absolute, and if I see any deviation, I will call off the entire army and take a loss. I will be held responsible but so will you, don’t forget."

The words were harsh but the young General had to put her point lest the old fogies disobeyed her again.

She then calmly leaned back on her chair and said, "The steps we will take from here onwards are..."

...

.....

Back at the battlefield, General Nicholas’s entire spear was coated with blood as was his noble suit.

Despite the blood and sweat, he zapped through the battlefield like a maniac and cut down as many soldiers as possible while wielding all twelve of the elemental energies.

The speciality of the Evure God Clan vampires was that everyone in their bloodline had an all elemental affinity.

It was not natural but acquired.

More elemental energies meant more spiritual power consumption along with a higher mental load.

However, it also meant more destruction.

General Nicholas had been here for a short time but the destruction was immense as he moved from the middle of the enemy’s army to back to his own.

He couldn’t stay in the middle for long as he was starting to get tired.

The moment he returned to the ally camp and was about to retire to the general’s tent, the messenger James reappeared and wiped the sweat on his forehead.

"S-Sir... you might want to see this..." He spoke hurriedly in a panicked tone as he presented a tablet.

"What’s wrong?" General Nicholas took it and had a look, only to furrow his brows.

On the screen was the view of the battlefield from a bird’s eye.

Previously the wedge was cutting the slab bit by bit while General Nicholas tried to hollow it from the middle.

However, once he returned, the slab apparently shifted to a chaotic dispersion of squads.

A small squad surrounded every vampire soldier at the very front while the enemy’s back line reduced in number.

Their reduction in number resulted in higher casualties in the back line of the Evure God Clan’s camp.

"The enemy’s back line is assassinating ours?" General Nicholas frowned harder and tapped on the tablet’s screen, trying to get a better view.

"Sir, we must make haste." James urged, sweating bullets.

"I know." Nicholas rubbed his temples and put the tablet away, not getting a clear picture.

He swung his spear at the side, flicking the collected blood away, and said, "It looks like I have to enter the battlefield again..."

A/N: The story is back on track. For how long until I disappear again you’d ask, well, good question... and um... I seriously am ashamed of myself regarding this.

Vsol is very dear to me and not a story I’d drop. It might go on hiatus, yes, but won’t be dropped.

The reason for such longer breaks were because of my med school. As you guys know, when I started Vsol I was just a horny 19 year old, but over the years, I cleared my entrance exams and eventually got into med school and I’m about to enter into the third year of this program.

There’s a total of six years, so third doesn’t mean half of the course is done, it means I’m done with two years which is 1/3rd of the course.

I’m in a different country and some of you may know that there’s a serious issue with western apps here in Russia. Most don’t work without VPN and finding a good VPN is also a problem.

I am making things work somehow and as second year is close to an end, I have enough time to write.

Physically and mentally I felt drained over the two years because of many irl issues and due to the medicine program in general.

But for now, I’ve sorted things out.

Until Dec 2026, that is almost for a year, I will focus more on writing. I’ll not be hardcore into studying like before and just study enough so I have no issues with academics or university exams.

I am hoping to write a lot more smut Chapters for Vsol and hoping to end it by this year’s end.

You guys have stayed with this story for so long and you all deserve to see its end.

Throughout the years, there have been many controversies regarding the novel, mostly due to the initial 50 Chapters. I won’t go into the detail of it, but you can find the controversies everywhere.

While I’m not trying to defend myself, I’m also not going to speak ill of myself or say that the story was bad.

This novel was written as a joke by the 19-year-old me and I thought it would be funny to post it online and see you guys laugh.

But well, your responses were anything but funny. You supported me an encouraged me, gave me strength and hope to write, and eventually, Vsol became what it became today.

By no means is vsol a small name. It is not the biggest name in the industry but it is up there in the top ranks among smut books, for which I’m very proud.

Everything is all due to you guys and many a times I feel I have been doing you all wrong but not publishing.

In any case, life waits for none and I know you guys won’t wait for this story either if I delay it any further.

If you’ve stayed till now, just know, I am very very thankful and I will do my best to give it the end it deserves.

Vsol is back and as for the updates, I won’t make any empty promises. Just keep a check on the updates, they should speak for themselves.

Once again, thank you all very much for the love and support. I’ll wait for you in the latest Chapters.

Much Love,

SocialHippo.
