Chapter 9

Promise

Fang Yuan smiled seeing her stuck in words. “Don’t forget your promise.”

“What promise?” Su Jing suddenly thought of something. “Oh, I did say that if you can save Old Master, I will kneel down and call you my ancestor, but I am afraid that you don’t have the ability to do so. You should avoid killing him and blaming it on us!”

Fang Yuan smiled even more brightly. “Even if you want to call me your ancestor, I would not want to accept a useless brat like you!”

“You!”

“You can spare the addressing, you can just kneel down!” Fang Yuan said and left with Chen Yang.

Looking at her retreating figure, Su Jing could not stand that any more. She shouted in Fang Yuan’s direction. “If you can really save the old man, I will give up my position as the deputy director!” Then she patted the name tag. “It depends on whether you are capable enough to take it away!”

Hearing that, Chen Yang asked curiously, “Why are you arguing with her?”

“Just someone who doesn’t know the immensity of heaven and earth.” Fang Yuan decided to kill her spirit and let her know that there was always someone better out there.

Old Master Bo was pushed into the operating room by the nurses, leaving the doctors in the ward staring at each other.”

“Crazy, they are all crazy!”

“How can he do the surgery without permit? Doctor Chen is just too young to know the consequences of failure. It is not as simple as ruining his reputation!”

If something happened to Old Master Bo, they would all be killed.

“Professor Wang, are we just going to leave this alone? It is a life!”

“Old Master Bo is a noble man, how can he allow them to cause trouble like this? Professor Wang, say something!”

“Yeah, we can stop them now!”

Compared to their anxiety, the female Dean found a glimmer of hope. “Doctor Chen comes from a lineage of esteemed medical professionals. While he may not be on the same level as Hua He, he possesses exceptional medical skills. Perhaps he can accomplish a miracle.”

The male Dean chimed in, reinforcing the sentiment. “Doctor Chen is renowned as a medical genius. With his presence, there’s a possibility of reviving the seemingly impossible.”

An anxious doctor interrupted, expressing concern about the young girl’s involvement. “Are we all confused? She’s just an assistant to Doctor Chen! How much can she possibly know about medicine at such a young age? Professor Wang, please provide some clarity!”

Professor Wang, who had remained silent, finally spoke up. “Dean Liu, I understand your concerns. However, Doctor Chen has already taken full responsibility for the surgery. If any complications arise, it will be his burden alone to bear.”

“But he is Young Master Bo’s grandfather. If something goes wrong, he will hold us accountable for not intervening!” Dean Liu persisted.

“In that case, we will make it clear to him that we tried to stop Doctor Chen, but he insisted on proceeding,” Su Jing declared, firm in her decision. She realized that arguing with the young girl would be futile. Besides, the girl seemed oblivious to the elderly man’s identity. If she knew, she would have likely fled in fear. How audacious of her to undertake such a challenge!

Professor Wang, who had been observing silently, finally spoke. “I will closely monitor the situation and witness the girl’s approach in the surgery.”

As Professor Wang left, other doctors followed suit, urging him not to merely observe but to find a solution before Old Master Bo arrived.

Su Jing instructed the nurse by her side. “Inform them to activate the surveillance camera in the operating room and record everything. I want to witness her impending failure.”

News of the exceptionally difficult surgery spread within the hospital, drawing curious doctors who were eager to witness the spectacle. If even Professor Wang was unable to assist the patient, how could a young girl possibly succeed? Many assumed she was a fraud.

In her sterile attire, Fang Yuan prepared to enter the operating room when Su Jing hurriedly approached her. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Old Master’s pericardium was damaged in the previous surgery, and his heart is almost adhered to the breastbone. If the thoracotomy is not performed meticulously, the heart will rupture. At that point, he will pass away, and you will bear the consequences!”

Fang Yuan responded calmly, her gaze steady. unlike you, I won’t make such low-level mistakes.”

Su Jing’s anger only intensified. “Fine! Let’s see what you can do with the first incision!” With those words, she turned and entered the observation room.

Inside the observation room, a group of doctors watched with surprise as the young girl took on the role of chief surgeon.

“Professor Wang, where did this girl come from? Are you really allowing her to take charge like this?”

“Is she even an adult? She doesn’t appear to have graduated from high school… And that’s Master Bo, her grandfather, on the operating table!”

“If anything goes wrong, the entire hospital will suffer!”

“She clearly wants the attention, and Doctor Chen is supporting her. What’s there to worry about?” Su Jing crossed her arms, sneering as she observed the girl through the glass.
