Chapter 282 – Shu Yan saw her ran out and retched around the corner. (3)

“Right, didn’t you mention going picnic a couple of days ago? Let’s go after I have earned my driver’s license.” Shu Yan really wasn’t in the mood for that right now.

“The weather hasn’t been the greatest lately. Let’s go when the weather is better. Tianbao mentioned to me a few times that he had been wanting to go horseback riding for a while now but you won’t let him.” Hu Ruixue had asked Shu Yan a few times but Shu Yan had declined her every time.

“Why would you go horseback riding when it’s so cold out? And that university night classes that you have mentioned last time, how do I apply?”

“You’ve decided?”

“Yeah. One cannot not be overeducated. I wouldn’t even know what to say if a client asks me where I attended college. My original plan was just to have a clothing shop and raise my children. Alas, I ran into you and now we are in business together. As our business grows, we will for sure become one of the top enterprises in the country and eventually, international. One of the two partners has a master degree and the other one didn’t even graduate grade school. I will be too shameless to say that out loud.”

Yan Shuyu wasn’t thrilled about going back to school and sitting in a classroom just to earn a degree but, alas, such was the way the society worked at this time. Many said that a degree was useless but, once they headed to a big city, they would realize that a degree was the key. Ability alone just wasn’t enough.

“I heard that you are self-learning English as well?” asked Hu Ruixue.

“Yeah, when I took JingJing and Tianbao to their afterschool classes last time, I thought I should pick something up myself as well. Considering my current age, singing and dancing probably won’t make very good options. So I thought why not English. Whether it will become handy or not in the future, it can’t hurt,” said Shu Yan humbly.

“I think the way you think. I am sure it will come in handy someday.” Hu Ruixue genuinely like what Shu Yan had been doing.

The two of them talked some about the future development of the company and had a meeting with upper management after lunch. Shu Yan headed back to her shop after that.

Per Hu Ruixue, with Shu Yan’s wealth right now, she really didn’t need the clothing shop anymore. It was tiring and not bringing in a lot of money. That being said, it was Shu Yan’s first job after she had come to this world and she had built it up from scratch. It was difficult for her to give it up.

Zhang Huaxiu was there working on the books and the other two salespersons were tidying the clothes. After one look at Zhang Huaxiu, Shu Yan said to her, “You don’t look well lately. If you don’t feel well, you should take some time off and get some rest.”

Zhang Huaxiu stroked her own cheek, “I guess I haven’t been sleeping well lately.”

She had been working here at the shop in the day time and helping out her sister-in-law on her books and inventory at night, of course she hadn’t been getting a lot of rest.

“That’s not going to work in a long run. If business at your sister-in-law’s shop is well, you should have her hired herself a helper.” Shu Yan frowned slightly.

“She insisted that she can do it all herself.” There wasn’t much that Zhang Huaxiu could do.

Problem was, she might be able to handle it but Zhang Huaxiu couldn’t. Last time when Wu Xiuyue went to merchandizing, she had Zhang Huaxiu took a day off to watch the shop for her, which meant Zhang Huaxiu did not have a day off for the entire month. Nobody would work 12 hours a day with no breaks in between.

“It’s fine. My stomach had been bothering me lately but I will be fine in a few days.”

“Okay, as long as you are mindful of it.” There wasn’t much that Shu Yan could say as long as Zhang Huaxiu was doing her part in her shop. Anything else that she said would just turn into instigation between Zhang Huaxiu and her sister-in-law. She didn’t want to cause any rift between the two.

They hadn’t done inventory in a while and Shu Yan had Zhang Huaxiu watch the front when she had the others helped her on the inventory and then reconciliation. Zhang Huaxiu was very detail-oriented when it came to work and her accounting very easy to follow. By the time they were done, it was almost dinner time. Her employees had been working very hard lately so Shu Yan had them stayed for dinner.

Braised pork was a must have and the restaurant had fresh fish today so Shu Yan ordered one as well. The two salespersons were very happy but Zhang Huaxiu had only had a bite before she stopped eating.

“What’s the matter?”

“Nothing, just my stomach. You carry on.” She ran out as she talked. Shu Yan, worried, followed her out and found her heaving in a corner.
