The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 702: Full of Doubts

Chapter 702: Chapter 702: Full of Doubts

"What do you mean by that?" Mrs. Garrison asked.

Marcus Garrison, his eyes red, said slowly, "Renee has been forcing herself to put up with you for my sake, and I don’t want to see her suffer anymore."

"Marcus Garrison, you make yourself clear right now!" Mrs. Garrison’s face was ashen as she gasped for breath.

"Mom, I’ve already made up my mind. Since you can’t accept Renee, I’ll move out with her." After speaking, Marcus Garrison brushed off Mrs. Garrison’s hand and strode into the bedroom.

After that, no matter what Mrs. Garrison said, Marcus Garrison didn’t open the door.

「The next afternoon.」

Renee Jennings and Sheryl Sawyer went to the pet hospital together to visit Inky.

The little guy was doing much better today than yesterday and could already open its eyes to look at people.

Renee Jennings waved at it through the incubator and said softly, "Inky, you’re doing great. You’re recovering so well today. I bet you’ll be able to go home in a few more days."

Hearing this, Inky was also very happy.

’That was terrifying! I thought I was a goner. Thank goodness Renee showed up in time to get me treatment.’

Inky couldn’t chat with her yet, and Renee Jennings, afraid of disturbing its rest, didn’t stay long.

"Inky, I’m leaving now. I’ll come see you again tomorrow." Renee Jennings said her goodbyes and walked out of the observation room.

"Miss Jennings, hello." The female veterinarian, Renee Sullivan, called out to her.

"Hello, Doctor Sullivan." Renee Jennings gave a slight nod.

Renee Sullivan smiled. "Care to join me for a cup of coffee in my office?"

Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow, looked at Sheryl Sawyer, and said, "Let’s go sit in Doctor Sullivan’s office for a bit."

"Okay," Sheryl Sawyer nodded.

As soon as they entered the office, Renee Sullivan began to brew coffee, seeming to be in a good mood.

A moment later, Renee Jennings picked up the steaming coffee and took a sip. "I feel like this coffee tastes even better than yesterday’s. Doctor Sullivan, do you have some good news to share?"

A smile played on Renee Sullivan’s lips, and her tone was light. "Miss Jennings, my husband asked to see me this morning. He’s planning to find a new place for us to move out, and he’ll also try his best to keep me from having contact with his mother in the future."

She was very satisfied with this outcome.

Renee Jennings’s lips curved as well. "That’s good. Life should be much more peaceful now."

"Yes," Renee Sullivan nodded, her tone filled with gratitude. "It’s all thanks to your help, Miss Jennings. Otherwise, this matter wouldn’t have been resolved so quickly. I’d probably still be worrying about it. Thank you so, so much."

"Don’t mention it." Renee Jennings smiled faintly. "I’m happy I could help."

After finishing their coffee, the two left the pet hospital and bought some afternoon tea to take to the police station.

The Spring Festival was over, and everyone had returned to their busy work routines.

One by one, their faces were grim and their brows furrowed, until Renee Jennings and Sheryl Sawyer walked in carrying afternoon tea. Only then did looks of relief finally appear on everyone’s faces.

One cup of milk tea was left on the table. Renee Jennings and Sheryl Sawyer looked at each other, then back again, for a long moment.

"Should we take this one to Director Lowell?" Renee Jennings asked.

Sheryl Sawyer nodded. "You take it."

Renee Jennings: "..."

She hesitated for two seconds, then picked up the milk tea and went upstairs.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK—

"Come in."

Renee Jennings pushed the door open, walked in, and said with a smile, "Director Lowell, good afternoon. I brought you some milk tea."

Quentin Lowell immediately stood up with a cheerful laugh. "Renee Jennings, your timing is perfect. The bonus I applied for on your behalf came through. Did you get it?"

"A bonus was issued?" Renee Jennings pulled out her phone and glanced at it. "Oh, you’re right. I received it this morning."

"Sit." Quentin Lowell gestured for her to take a seat.

Renee Jennings said quickly, "No need, I just came up to drop off the milk tea. I’ll be leaving right away."

After speaking, she handed the milk tea to him.

Quentin Lowell took the milk tea while saying, "No rush. Sit down for a moment. There’s something I’d like to talk to you about."

Hearing this, Renee Jennings finally sat down in an office chair and asked quizzically, "Director Lowell, what is it?"

Quentin Lowell unwrapped the straw, poked it into the milk tea, took a sip, and commented, "The flavor is just right. Not too sweet, not too bland."

Renee Jennings blinked. "I’m glad you like it, Director Lowell."

Quentin Lowell seemed to be getting addicted, taking several large gulps. "Delicious, delicious."

Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow.

Quentin Lowell put down the milk tea, his expression turning serious. "Renee Jennings, there’s a rather tricky case over in Jaelara. The person in charge of the police department there contacted me, hoping to ask you to go over and help."

"What kind of case is it?" Renee Jennings asked.

Quentin Lowell picked up his phone, tapped it a few times, and then placed it in front of her. "Take a look."

Renee Jennings lowered her gaze to the screen, her slender brows slowly knitting together.

Quentin Lowell said earnestly, "According to the suspect’s testimony, the victim intended to sexually assault her. The Jaelara police also found photos of the suspect on the victim’s phone that he had taken without her consent. After their investigation, the Jaelara police still feel there are many suspicious points."

Renee Jennings placed the phone back in front of him, her tone grave. "I have no problem with it. I can leave for Jaelara at any time."

"Good." Quentin Lowell nodded in relief and asked, "Can you leave tomorrow?"

Renee Jennings: "I can."

Quentin Lowell: "Then I’ll contact the Jaelara police right now. You and Sawyer will head out together tomorrow."

"Understood," Renee Jennings replied, then asked, "Director Lowell, is there anything else?"

"Not at the moment." Quentin Lowell shook his head.

Renee Jennings stood up. "Alright, then I won’t disturb you any further."

Just as she reached the door, Quentin Lowell suddenly remembered something. "Oh, by the way, has Inky come looking for you these past couple of days? I haven’t seen it come looking for me at all."

"Inky was injured saving someone." Renee Jennings stopped and turned back to explain. "It’s being treated at the pet hospital right now."

"Injured?" Quentin Lowell frowned. "Is it serious?"

"Quite serious," Renee Jennings said. "But don’t worry, it’s already slowly recovering. It should be discharged soon."

As she finished speaking, she remembered that she was going to Jaelara tomorrow and wouldn’t be able to visit Inky at the hospital.

Renee Jennings hesitated for a few seconds before saying, "Director Lowell, if you have time tomorrow, could you please go see Inky for me?"

"Even if I don’t have time, I’ll make time." Quentin Lowell’s expression was dead serious. "Send me the pet hospital’s address on WeChat."

"Okay." Renee Jennings agreed with a smile. "I’ll head back down then. I’ll let you get back to work, Director."

Before the door closed, Quentin Lowell called out again, "Have Henry Stark come up and see me."

As soon as Renee Jennings got downstairs, she went and knocked on Henry Stark’s office door.

Henry Stark put down his milk tea before saying, "Come in."

Renee Jennings pushed the door open a crack and said with a light laugh, "Henry, Director Lowell wants you to go up."

"Alright, I know." Henry Stark calmly rose from his office chair.

Renee Jennings returned to her workstation, replied to a message from Michelle Fuller, and then clicked into the live streaming platform to check her private messages.

After a look around, there was still nothing.

Renee Jennings sighed softly, put down her phone, and picked up a criminal law book that was sitting nearby.

A little while later, a familiar voice was heard.

"Sheryl, go home tonight and pack your bags. You’re going on a business trip to Jaelara with Renee Jennings tomorrow."
