Chapter 634: He Really Wants to Harm Me
Chapter 634: Chapter 634: He Really Wants to Harm Me
"Of course." Renee Jennings stroked Glenn’s head, her tone serious. "You and your sister can both go to school."
"Really?" Glenn’s eyes lit up instantly. He asked expectantly, "Can my sister and I really go to school?"
Renee Jennings nodded. "Yes, really."
A serious expression appeared on Glenn’s childish face. "I’ll study hard from now on, and I won’t get distracted in class anymore."
Listening to him, Renee Jennings was filled with an indescribable feeling.
’It’s like Glenn suddenly grew up...’
At five in the afternoon, Henry Stark and Sawyer came to Eastgate Villa to pick up Renee Jennings. They were heading to the meeting spot with Spicy and Tina.
「Celestial Plaza.」
Spicy absentmindedly accompanied Tina on her shopping trip, wondering how to break the news that Tiberius Lee was a scammer.
Tina held a piece of clothing up in front of the mirror. She turned to ask if it looked good, only to see her best friend looking glum.
Tina hung the clothes back on the rack and took Spicy’s arm. "Leila," she said softly, "don’t take what Tiberius said last night to heart. He was just in a bad mood."
Hearing Tina bring it up first, Spicy seized the opportunity. "Tina, you’ve been dating Tiberius for a while now. What do you think of him as a person?"
"He’s great." Tina thought for a moment. "He’s handsome, well-off financially, and most importantly, he’s very patient with me."
She and Tiberius Lee had been together for over half a year, and had only moved in together in the last two months.
Before they moved in together, she had told him she didn’t want to be intimate too early, that they should get to know each other for at least a year before considering that step.
Tiberius Lee had agreed and hadn’t crossed any lines since they started living together.
Tina was very pleased with this.
"There’s another reason Tiberius is taking me to Marland—he wants me to meet his family." A small smile played on Tina’s lips. "He says that for a girlfriend, it’s also important to know what her boyfriend’s parents are like."
Spicy: "..."
She pressed her lips together, not knowing what to say.
’It’s like Tiberius has put a spell on Tina. How can she trust him so much?’
"But aren’t you scared to go to a foreign country with him?" Spicy asked tactfully.
"Why would I be scared?" Tina said, amused. "Tiberius will be there, won’t he?"
Spicy wanted to say, ’He’s the reason you *should* be scared,’ but she was afraid Tina would get upset, so she didn’t say it out loud.
She frowned, hesitating for a few seconds before changing the subject. "Tina, do you remember that animal streamer I told you about before?"
"Animal streamer?" Tina blinked. "You mean Renee Jennings?"
"Yes."
Tina nodded. "I remember. I even lurked in her stream a few times, hoping to get her to talk with Mia, but I never managed to get picked."
Spicy raised an eyebrow. "I got connected last night."
Tina’s eyes widened in surprise. "Really? Leila, you’re amazing! Did you get the streamer to communicate with Mimi?"
"I did," Spicy said. "Remember when we video chatted, and Mimi was acting really strange and aggressive?"
"Yes, yes! Did the streamer ask Mimi why he was acting like that?"
Spicy hesitated for two seconds before saying, "Tina, promise you won’t get upset by what I’m about to say, okay?"
"Just say it." Tina gave a helpless smile. "Leila, come on, it’s me. You can just be direct."
"Okay, I’ll be direct then." Spicy took a deep breath and spoke slowly. "Ms. Jennings asked Mimi why he was so agitated during our video call. Mimi said that Mia told him Tiberius Lee is a scammer and that he’s planning to trick you into going abroad so he can sell you."
Hearing this, the smile on Tina’s face instantly froze.
Her heart felt as if it had been seized by an invisible hand. Her eyelashes fluttered as she asked uncertainly, "Leila, you’re joking with me, right?"
Spicy sighed. "I didn’t want to believe it was true either, but Tina, that’s what I heard. Mia overheard him on the phone, saying he was taking you to Marland, and that once you’re there, no one will hear you scream..."
Tina gasped for air, her whole body trembling uncontrollably. "But... but Tiberius seems so good to me, like he loves me so much..."
Spicy: "I suspect that’s part of his scam, to lower your guard."
Tina’s eyes turned red, her voice choked with emotion. "No, I have to call him and ask!"
"Tina, don’t be rash." Spicy held down her phone. "Actually, when I heard about this last night, I wanted to tell you immediately, but Ms. Jennings advised me against it."
Tina frowned, a look of confusion on her face. "Why did she tell you not to tell me?"
Spicy: "Ms. Jennings figured you were with Tiberius Lee at the time and was worried he might hurt you. She wanted me to talk to you face-to-face."
Tina nodded, her heart filled with both sorrow and confusion. "Leila, what should I do? What if he really is trying to hurt me..."
"Ms. Jennings said there’s definitely a criminal organization behind Tiberius Lee. She suggested we get the police involved."
"We need to call the police? Should we go report it now?"
"Tina." Spicy held her hand, a hint of apology in her eyes. "There’s something else... please don’t be angry, but Ms. Jennings has already brought the police to meet us."
Tina shook her head vigorously and threw her arms around her best friend. "I know you’re just concerned about me and looking out for me. How could I possibly be angry?"
Spicy instantly let out a sigh of relief.
’Thank goodness Tina was willing to believe her.’
"So, should we go meet Ms. Jennings now?"
Tina nodded. "Okay."
Renee Jennings and her two companions were finishing up dinner at a casual diner when Spicy and Tina arrived.
"Ms. Jennings, hello!" Spicy introduced herself. "I’m Spicy. You can call me Leila. This is my best friend, Tina."
Renee Jennings greeted them both and introduced Henry Stark and Sawyer, then asked, "You two haven’t eaten yet, have you? Why don’t you get a bite before we talk?"
"No, no, it’s fine, we’re not hungry." Spicy thought, ’Tina definitely has no appetite right now,’ and she also wanted to resolve this matter quickly.
"Alright then." Renee Jennings nodded and gave a small smile. "Let’s find a quiet place."
It was currently dinnertime, so the coffee shop was mostly empty, with only two or three tables occupied.
The group found a corner in the shop and sat down.
Renee Jennings looked at Tina, her gaze gentle, and said softly, "Tina, Leila has already told you about Mimi and Mia, right?"
"Yes!" Tina nodded her head vigorously. "Leila told me everything. Ms. Jennings, what should I do now? I’m so scared."
The thought of being sold if she went to Marland with Tiberius Lee filled her with both fear and relief.
Tina emotionally gripped Leila’s hand.
’Thank god she’s here.’
