Chapter 572: Chapter 572: "Yeah, You’re Rather Slutty, Too.
Reina Vance remained unbothered by the scolding, leisurely sipping her coffee.
’The coffee Ms. Jennings ordered for her is delicious.’
Watching Reina’s contented expression as she drank her coffee, Sheryl Sterling seethed with anger. "Since when did you become so selfish? Ordering coffee only for yourself?"
"What did you expect?" Reina put down her coffee, studying Sheryl’s angry face with a sneer. "Was I supposed to buy one for the woman trying to seduce my fiancé?"
"What... what are you talking about?" Sheryl Sterling sputtered, flushing with anger and embarrassment. "Don’t you dare make things up! When did I ever seduce your fiancé? A guy like him? You’re the only one who’d think he’s some kind of treasure."
With that, she shot a glance at Sean Fuller and muttered, "How completely ridiculous."
"Making things up?" Reina laughed. "Still not admitting it? Weren’t you the one who deliberately planted that press-on nail in my house, trying to make me think Howard was cheating?"
Sheryl Sterling’s expression faltered. A flash of panic crossed her eyes before she quickly concealed it. "You just can’t find who he’s cheating with, so you’re taking it out on me! And after I considered you a good friend... I’m so disappointed in you!"
"Is that right?" Reina asked, her face cold. "Did you ever really see me as a friend? If you did, you wouldn’t have sent Howard all that stuff."
"What did I send Howard?" Sheryl suddenly asked, full of confidence. "Everything I sent him was about you. I was trying to help you two, and now you’re twisting it to say I was seducing him?"
"Telling him I have a bad temper and love starting drama is for my own good?" Reina tapped her phone a few times. "You’re the one who sent him a video in the middle of the night while he was away on business, aren’t you?"
A flicker of panic crossed Sheryl’s face. "What are you talking about?"
"I’m not wronging you, am I?" Reina held up a screenshot of a chat from Howard’s phone. "You only send photos you’ve edited, picking the ones where I’m the ugly duckling to make you look better, right?"
Sheryl frowned and argued, "You’re the one who’s always a slob and never bothers to dress up. How is that my fault?"
Reina stared at her, her eyes filled with disgust. "You’re always going on and on to me about how Howard isn’t good enough, this and that. I don’t think you’re dissatisfied with him at all. I think you’re *too* satisfied with him!"
"You’re insane!" Sheryl’s face flushed a deep, ugly red. "Who’d want him? You make it sound like I’m desperate for a man!"
"Then tell me, why did you badmouth me to Howard?" Reina demanded. "And why, when you thought someone was in your house, did you text Howard instead of calling the police?"
Sheryl opened her mouth, but she didn’t know what to say.
’The truth was, she didn’t even like Reina as a friend. Reina wasn’t as pretty or as sexy as she was, so on what grounds did she deserve a boyfriend who doted on her and loved her so much?’
’Reina was right. She had badmouthed her to Howard to sow discord, hoping he would start to hate Reina and break up with her.’
’But she never expected that Howard wouldn’t care about her words in the slightest. He’d even said Reina was just a straightforward, sincere, and unpretentious girl. What a weirdo.’
’When that plan failed, she tried to get Howard to come over to her place. A man and a woman, all alone... how hard could it be to win him over?’
’But the man was completely clueless—he actually told her to call the police!’
’So Sheryl had to change tactics. She started constantly badmouthing Howard in front of Reina, looking for chances to make Reina misunderstand him.’
’That way, Reina and Howard would fight all the time, and sooner or later, they would argue themselves into a breakup.’
’But Sheryl never imagined that she’d be exposed before that day ever came.’
She stared at Reina’s serious face and suddenly laughed. "I’ll be honest with you. I don’t think you deserve Howard at all."
"I don’t deserve him? So you think you do?" Reina found this hilarious.
"Of course I do. I’m prettier than you, and I have a better body." Sheryl flicked her hair back and puffed out her chest.
Reina drained her coffee in one go and nodded in agreement. "Right. You’re also sluttier."
"You..." Sheryl was speechless for a moment, then gritted her teeth. "You’re just jealous that I’m more charming than you!"
’Reina truly couldn’t believe someone could be this shameless.’
She reached over, grabbed the glass of lemonade in front of Sheryl, and splashed it right in her face. "You’re absolutely shameless!"
"AH!" Sheryl shrieked. "Reina, are you insane?"
"I am," Reina nodded. "You drove me to it. I’m already showing great restraint by not using the coffee."
’That coffee was a gift from Ms. Jennings; she couldn’t bear to waste it.’
"You..." Water dripped down Sheryl’s face, her expression a livid, ugly mask. Her eyes scanned the table, and she reached for the coffee in front of Sean.
Before her fingers could touch the cup, Sean picked it up and began to drink it slowly.
Sheryl’s hand closed on empty air. She was so furious she could have exploded.
Reina couldn’t be bothered to argue with her any longer. She got up and walked out of the coffee shop.
Having watched the whole farce play out, Renee Jennings and Michelle Fuller also left, completely satisfied.
Sheryl Sterling looked at Sean with a pitiful, doe-eyed expression, seemingly hoping he would offer a few words of comfort.
Her lips parted as if to speak, but Sean was already getting up and leaving.
When Renee and the others stepped outside, they saw Reina standing a short distance away.
"Ms. Jennings." Reina jogged over to them and asked excitedly, "What did you think of my performance just now?"
Renee’s lips curved into a slight smile. "It was quite good."
Michelle chimed in, "I think it would’ve been even better if you’d used the coffee instead of the lemonade."
"But the coffee was from Ms. Jennings, so..."
"Oh, you silly girl. It wouldn’t have been hard to just order another one after you threw it."
"I just didn’t want Ms. Jennings to have to spend more money."
"It’s fine. It’s over now, so don’t dwell on it." Renee looked at Reina, her gaze gentle and her voice soft. "What matters is that the misunderstanding with your fiancé is cleared up. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness."
"Okay!" Reina nodded earnestly. "I hope I’ll have the chance to share our wedding candy with you, Ms. Jennings and Michelle."
"Of course," Michelle said with a grin. "We’ll be waiting for the good news."
Taking her cue, Reina said, "Well, I’ll get going. Goodbye."
"Goodbye." Renee gave a slight nod, watching her walk toward the elevators down the hall.
Michelle linked her arm through Renee’s, her tone cheerful. "Finally, something to feel good about."
Just then, Sean spoke up cautiously. "Um, Yvonne Morgan messaged me back."
Michelle’s brow furrowed instantly. Just the thought of that person soured her mood again.
"What did she say?" Renee asked.
Sean held his phone out for them to see.
Yvonne Morgan’s reply to his question from last night was on the screen: [Sean, why the sudden question? Is my name really that important?]
Michelle’s eyes narrowed. "It looks like she doesn’t want Sean to know her name," she analyzed. "Is she afraid of exposing her identity?"
