Chapter 456: Everyone, Help Me Stop Her

Chapter 456: Chapter 456: Everyone, Help Me Stop Her

*It’s so rare to see Renee this serious. I’m getting nervous myself.*

*Renee, go ahead and say it. I’m ready.*

"Teacher Jessica, it’s not that your husband never had children. It’s that..." Renee Jennings repeated what Biscuit had just told her.

*WHAT??? How could any human being do something like that? Causing her own granddaughter’s death just to play cards!*

*That damn mother-in-law! Ahhh, I’m so furious!*

*They offered to hire a nanny, but she insisted on taking responsibility, and then she couldn’t even look after the child properly!*

*That old hag still has the nerve to push her to have a baby now???*

*Ugh, as a mother, I can’t stand hearing stories like this. My heart aches for Sweetie! This is absolutely terrifying!*

The viewers in the livestream were furious.

JessicaLovesLife collapsed to the floor, her face pale, her eyes vacant and bewildered. Her phone slipped from her fingers.

CLATTER—

Seeing this, Biscuit lowered his head and picked up the phone with his mouth.

Tears fell silently from her eyes. JessicaLovesLife listlessly raised a hand to take the phone, choking out, "I was deceived... How could my mother-in-law be so irresponsible? That was a human life..."

Through her blurry, tear-filled eyes, she looked at Renee Jennings on the screen. "She even said she’d help raise my baby when I have one. She caused Sweetie’s death, how could she still dare to say something like that..."

*Oh my god, getting one child killed wasn’t enough for the Old Hag, now she wants to get another one killed?*

*Maybe she’ll learn from her experience...*

*OMG, to the poster above, how can you be so naive? ’Learn from her experience?’ That was a living, breathing child!*

*And the husband claimed the divorce was because his ex-wife wanted to move to another city for career opportunities. What a joke.*

*Why didn’t the ex-wife call the cops and have the Old Hag arrested? What she did is no different from murder!*

Renee Jennings, however, had calmed down considerably. She asked softly, "Teacher Jessica, what are you thinking right now?"

"I..." JessicaLovesLife sniffled, her voice thick with congestion. "I don’t know. My mind is a mess, and my heart is in turmoil."

*Girl, why aren’t you running yet? You can’t stay with a family like that! Talk to your parents, and if you have to get a divorce, get a divorce!*

*I agree, run! Run as fast as you can!*

Renee Jennings thought for a moment, then said, "Teacher Jessica, what’s your husband’s attitude toward his mother? The ex-wife chose to divorce him, so it’s possible that your husband sided with his mother on this matter."

"He..." JessicaLovesLife frowned deeply. "He’s very good to his mom."

*Sounds like your husband doesn’t have his head on straight. Sis, don’t you make the same mistake.*

*If you don’t make a clean break... you’ll regret it later!*

*Forget it, she’s just *so* in love with him. No point in trying to convince her, guys.*

"I’m not," JessicaLovesLife quickly explained when she saw the comment. "I just don’t know what to do right now."

Just as she said that, she heard her mother-in-law shouting from outside, "Jessica, take the meat out of the fridge to thaw. Let everyone have a taste of your cooking tonight."

JessicaLovesLife pressed her lips together and said nothing.

"Have you had to cook these past few days since you went back?" Renee Jennings asked.

JessicaLovesLife said in a low voice, "I have to help my mother-in-law as her assistant. Since yesterday, she’s been saying that she wants me to cook a meal by myself today."

*You’ve only been back for a few days and she’s already making you cook? I can’t even.*

*What about your husband? What’s he doing?*

"He’s having tea with his uncles." After JessicaLovesLife said this, she caught a glimpse of a figure out of the corner of her eye.

Her mother-in-law strode in. Seeing her sitting on the floor playing with her phone, not even hearing her when called to do chores, her face hardened. "Jessica, did you hear me talking to you?"

JessicaLovesLife turned her head to look at her.

The mother-in-law saw the tear stains on her face and asked suspiciously, "What are you crying for? Are you crying just because I asked you to cook a meal?"

"Oh, for goodness’ sake!" The mother-in-law put on a look of disdain. "Back when I got married, I had to cook for the whole family the very next day. I had to go to the river to wash everyone’s clothes, and I didn’t cry. Why are you so delicate!"

Renee Jennings: "..."

*Old Hag, I really want to crawl through the internet and tear her apart!*

*Just hearing her voice makes me sick.*

*She already drove away one daughter-in-law, is she trying to drive away another? Jessica, you divorce him! Do you hear me? Divorce him!*

*Teacher Jessica, please have some backbone!*

JessicaLovesLife was already in a bad mood and now felt a strong aversion to her mother-in-law. Hearing her words, she said in a heavy voice, "Stop bringing up your past. I’m not making dinner!"

"What did you say?" The mother-in-law’s beady eyes widened in a glare. "You’re not making dinner? You go outside and ask around! In which family is it not the daughter-in-law who cooks?"

*Jessica, destroy her! Please!*

*Ahhh, don’t be a pushover!*

Renee Jennings also said softly, "If you give in now, they’ll just walk all over you."

"Who’s speaking?" the mother-in-law asked.

JessicaLovesLife gripped her phone tightly and stood up from the floor. She was tall, towering a full head over her mother-in-law.

She took a deep breath and said coldly, "Is that so? Then why don’t you go outside and ask around which family’s grandmother let her own granddaughter drown to death just so she could play cards?"

As soon as these words were spoken, the color drained from the mother-in-law’s face, her expression flickering between ghastly shades of white and green.

She glared with her beady eyes, her gaze full of venom as she stared at her daughter-in-law. "What did you say? Which damn bastard told you this?"

’My son definitely wouldn’t have said anything. So which bastard told her about this?’

Hearing this, Biscuit guiltily shifted his paws, burying his head low to make himself less conspicuous.

’Grandma can’t find out I’m the one who told her! Otherwise, she’ll definitely catch me and cook me in a stew!’

JessicaLovesLife: "You don’t need to worry about who told me."

"Was it that bitch with the surname Yin?" The mother-in-law was cursing her former daughter-in-law, thinking she couldn’t stand to see her son happy and was deliberately causing trouble.

"Who’s surnamed Yin?" JessicaLovesLife asked.

"It wasn’t her?" The mother-in-law looked suspicious. "Then who could it be?"

"So it’s true, isn’t it?" The last shred of hope deep in JessicaLovesLife’s heart vanished instantly.

She had been wondering if maybe Goldie had made a mistake, that this hadn’t happened in this family.

But seeing her mother-in-law’s reaction, she understood everything.

"No!" the mother-in-law retorted, her face contorted in a vicious snarl. "It never happened! Stop talking nonsense!"

"You let Sweetie die just to play cards!" JessicaLovesLife looked at her with disgust. "Don’t you have nightmares every time you go to sleep?"

The mother-in-law hadn’t heard that name in a long time. Her face turned deathly pale in an instant, and her breathing became ragged. "Nonsense! I’ll rip that filthy mouth of yours off!"

JessicaLovesLife never expected her to resort to violence and quickly ran out.

The mother-in-law chased after her, grinding her teeth. "You brat, stop right there! Everyone, help me stop her!"

At the mother-in-law’s loud roar, the gossips sitting by the door immediately blocked JessicaLovesLife’s path.

"New bride, what are you doing? How did you make your mother-in-law so angry?"

"Aiya, how could you make your mother-in-law so furious? You’re asking for trouble."
