Chapter 391: Actually Hiding Behind His Wife and Child
Chapter 391: Chapter 391: Actually Hiding Behind His Wife and Child
Acting like a madman, Wyatt Conway raised his hand and slapped her. "I told you not to jinx me!" he roared. "Are you deaf?"
Mrs. Conway was stunned by his slap.
She stared at him in disbelief, her eyes red-rimmed. "You hit me? You actually dared to hit me?"
After being called to the police station, Wyatt Conway’s nerves had been stretched to the breaking point. He was agitated, but he hadn’t dared to lash out at clients or colleagues at his company. He’d been holding it all in, and now he had reached his limit.
He grabbed a stool and smashed it violently onto the fruit. "So what if I hit you? I’ve been sick of you for a long time! Day in and day out, you’re like a damn tigress, showing me no respect at all!"
Mrs. Conway immediately hugged Sophie and burst into tears.
Zachary Conway recorded the scene with his phone. Just as he was about to send it to the group chat, he heard a familiar voice from above.
"He’s worse than an animal."
"Renee Jennings?" Zachary Conway’s voice was cheerful. "You guys are here."
Renee Jennings pulled out a chair and sat down. "We’re here to watch the show."
Sawyer and Kyle Morgan also sat down beside them.
They had already released Kaiser ahead of time. He was probably almost at the fruit store by now.
Wyatt Conway was still having a meltdown, smashing the fruit his wife had painstakingly arranged and displayed. He panted heavily and said, "Just try jinxing me again!"
Mrs. Conway’s disheveled hair, damp with tears, stuck to her swollen cheek. Her eyes were fixed on him with hatred, her jaw trembling from clenching her teeth. "Wyatt Conway, are you trying to get a divorce?"
"Divorce?" Wyatt Conway acted as if he’d heard a joke. "Don’t even think about threatening me with divorce. Do you think I’d let you have an easy time if we did?"
Mrs. Conway was about to curse at him, but she suddenly caught a glimpse of a dangerous presence. Her pupils trembled, and a look of terror appeared on her tear-streaked face.
Seeing this, Wyatt Conway thought he had intimidated the tigress. He said smugly, "Scared now, are you?"
He dragged a chair over, sat down, and crossed his legs. "It’s good that you’re scared. From now on, be nicer to me and speak more politely."
Mrs. Conway saw the flat head rise high. She swallowed nervously and hugged Sophie tighter.
She reminded him in a trembling voice, "A venomous snake..."
"What did you say?" Wyatt Conway’s face darkened. "Are you saying I’m like a venomous snake?"
"There’s a venomous snake!" Large tears welled up in Mrs. Conway’s eyes. "Quick, call 119!"
"What?" Wyatt Conway’s expression changed abruptly. He suddenly felt a chill run down his back.
He slowly turned his head. His pupils contracted sharply, and the hairs on his arms stood on end.
A length of black-and-white-patterned snake body reared high, the patterns on its scales clearly visible. Its forked tongue nearly licked him.
Wyatt Conway was so scared he almost fainted. His body felt as if all its strength had been drained away, and he didn’t dare to move. The only things moving were his Adam’s apple, bobbing with difficulty, and the cold sweat crawling down his spine.
’Kaiser...’
’Is Kaiser really here for revenge?’
’Help... help me!’
’Somebody save me!’
The first time he was bitten, he’d been completely unprepared. Now, seeing Kaiser made his scalp tingle with fear.
Wyatt Conway moved his body cautiously.
"What do we do..." Mrs. Conway was frantic. "Quick, think of something..."
The only solution Wyatt Conway could think of was to hide behind his wife and child.
Seeing this, Renee Jennings and her group all showed shock and anger in their eyes.
"Fuck! Is he even human?" Kyle Morgan swore in anger.
Zachary Conway clenched his fists. "I want to beat that animal to death!"
Sawyer gritted her teeth. "He’d actually abandon his own wife and child?"
Renee Jennings pressed her lips together tightly, saying nothing.
After his burst of anger, Zachary Conway couldn’t help but ask worriedly, "Will Kaiser bite them?"
"He won’t," Renee Jennings said with certainty.
Kaiser trusted her, and likewise, she had faith in him.
Mrs. Conway’s back went rigid. She felt as if she’d been plunged into an ice cave.
She never imagined that when danger appeared, her husband wouldn’t stand in front to protect her and their child, but would even push them forward...
"Wyatt Conway, are you even human?" Mrs. Conway’s fingertips dug deep into her palms. Her heart ached in spasms, but now, not a single tear would fall. It was as if all the blood in her body had frozen into ice.
She slowly turned sideways, shielding Sophie deep in her embrace, and faced Kaiser herself.
"Please." Mrs. Conway met Kaiser’s gaze and begged in despair, "Don’t bite my daughter."
She tremblingly held out her own wrist. "Spare my daughter."
Kaiser stared at Mrs. Conway, a flicker of contemplation in his eyes.
He was thinking that when his eggs were stolen by those four despicable humans, his mate must have been just like this human female.
Begging pitifully, willing to sacrifice herself.
But those humans hadn’t spared her...
Mrs. Conway was trembling all over. Kaiser could even feel how terrified she was at that moment.
He had promised Renee Jennings not to harm innocent people.
But even if he hadn’t made that promise, he would not have harmed the mother and daughter before him.
Kaiser slithered to one side.
Seeing this, Mrs. Conway was momentarily baffled.
Kaiser flicked his slender tail, gesturing for her to leave.
Mrs. Conway froze for a few seconds, then seemed to understand. She held her daughter and prepared to leave, but her legs gave out, and she fell to the ground with her daughter.
Sophie happened to fall right in front of Kaiser.
The little girl didn’t yet understand how terrifying a venomous snake was. She stared at Kaiser with innocent eyes.
Kaiser moved closer to look at her, his hood retracting to its normal size.
Mrs. Conway was in a panic. "Sophie..."
Kaiser did not harm Sophie. He flicked his tail, gently brushing it over Sophie’s head.
Mrs. Conway snatched Sophie up and quickly ran out of the fruit store.
Sophie raised a small hand to touch her hair and said in a childish voice, "Mommy, the little snake just touched Sophie’s head. Does that mean he likes Sophie?"
Mrs. Conway also stroked her daughter’s head, hugging her close, and said with a sob, "He’s a good snake."
When Wyatt Conway saw his wife and daughter run away, he also tried to escape, but Kaiser quickly blocked his path again. The cobra’s hood flared into an attack posture, and his pupils watched him warily.
"You... you get out of my way!" Wyatt Conway said in terror.
Kaiser flicked his tongue. His triangular head shot out, scales glinting with a cold light, and his sharp fangs sank into the flesh beside Wyatt’s pulsing carotid artery.
Wyatt Conway’s eyes filled with despair as the blood drained from his face.
’Am I going to die?’
Mrs. Conway, holding her daughter, watched this scene with cold eyes.
’At that moment, she suddenly felt it would be better if this man just died.’
She didn’t call for an ambulance, but a bystander in the crowd of onlookers had already dialed 120.
Kaiser watched Wyatt Conway collapse, then flicked his tail and left.
The onlookers at the store entrance hurriedly backed away, afraid of becoming the next victim.
Kaiser slithered away without a sideways glance.
Renee Jennings and her group also got up and left the bubble tea shop, no longer paying attention to the situation at the scene.
Kaiser was already waiting for them under a car.
He poked his head out. "That human... he didn’t even protect his own female and child."
Renee Jennings met his gaze and sighed. "Yes. He’s the real cold-blooded animal."
