Renee Jennings was just discovering how adept Henry Stark was at shutting people down.
Miles Shepherd was green with fury, but he didn’t dare say a word.
After he left the police station, Kyle Morgan contacted the other two men.
The saying "birds of a feather flock together" certainly applied here. Anyone capable of committing such a cruel act together couldn’t be of good character.
When Wyatt Conway learned that Kaiser was out for revenge, he became extremely agitated. "Officer, I’ve already been bitten by it!"
He pointed to his arm, which still bore the marks of Kaiser’s bite. "Look! I almost died! It’s already gotten its revenge!"

"Officers, you have to catch that venomous snake!" Wyatt Conway said, his voice laced with lingering fear. "I almost died, just like Elias Yardley!"
"Are you willing to apologize to Kaiser’s family?" Zachary Conway asked.
Wyatt Conway was stunned. His expression turned odd. "Are you kidding me? You want me to apologize to a Snake?"
"Not one Snake," Zachary Conway corrected. "Two Snakes, and a nest of eggs."
Wyatt Conway laughed. "Officer, you’re hilarious!"
Zachary Conway’s voice was grave. "I’m being completely serious! Please give me a serious answer!"
"Absolutely not!" Wyatt Conway said matter-of-factly. "Who’s ever heard of a human apologizing to an animal? It’s absurd!"
Renee Jennings gave a small smile. "So, you’re saying you’re willing to endure Kaiser’s revenge, until you die like Elias Yardley?"
"No way!" Wyatt Conway said hurriedly. "I don’t want to die!"
Renee Jennings: "Then are you willing to apologize?"
Wyatt Conway frowned. "Impossible!"
The other man, Linden Lucas, immediately tried to talk his way out of it when he heard Kaiser was seeking revenge.
"Officer, you must have the wrong person. I’ve never eaten that stuff. I wouldn’t dare," Linden Lucas said. "My Chinese zodiac is the Snake, so how could I possibly eat a Snake?"
Hearing this, Levi Hollis calmly pulled up a social media post Elias Yardley had made before he died. "This is you, isn’t it?"
Linden Lucas’s mouth fell open, but he was speechless.
"Stop making excuses. Your friends have already confessed," Levi Hollis reminded him. "Elias Yardley is dead from snake venom. Wyatt Conway barely made it out alive, and Miles Shepherd’s son was almost bitten."
Linden Lucas trembled and hurriedly asked, "Officer, have you caught that venomous snake yet?"
"No."
"What? It’s already killed someone! Why haven’t you caught it?"
Renee Jennings said calmly, "If you hadn’t provoked it first, it wouldn’t have harmed anyone without reason."
"What are you trying to say?" Linden Lucas demanded.
"Are you willing to apologize to Kaiser’s family?" Renee Jennings asked.
"What?" Linden Lucas suspected he’d misheard. "Apologize to a Kaiser? I’d be a laughingstock! Millions of people eat wild game, why should I be the one to apologize? I’d rather be taken into administrative detention!"
"Very well." Renee Jennings nodded calmly. "We understand your position."
Linden Lucas was still afraid. As he left, he kept repeating, "Officers, you have to catch that venomous snake!"
No one answered him.
「In the conference room.」
Kyle Morgan frowned. "None of those three show any remorse."
"It’s pathetic," Renee Jennings scoffed.
Levi Hollis lamented, "To think they’re not even afraid of death..."
"It’s not that they aren’t afraid of death," Zachary Conway said, shaking his head. "They just don’t think they’ll be as unlucky as Elias Yardley."
Renee Jennings glanced at the time. It was already 2:00 PM.
She sent Faye Wyatt a message: [Faye, did you feed Kaiser for me?]
Ten minutes later, Faye Wyatt replied with a video.
It was a drone video of Kaiser eating in a small park.
Renee Jennings’s lips curled into a faint smile. She replied: [Thanks, Faye!]
She forwarded the video to the group chat, then put down her phone, her expression turning serious. "I stand by my original decision. We let Kaiser have its revenge, but we have a medical team on standby, ready to intervene at a moment’s notice."
Sawyer immediately chimed in, "I support Renee Jennings."
"I agree with Renee Jennings, too."
"Let Kaiser get its revenge."
"I vote for Renee Jennings’s plan."
The voices of Kyle Morgan, Levi Hollis, and Zachary Conway rang out one after another.
Henry Stark raised a dark eyebrow. His deep, black eyes swept over the room, and a hint of a smile touched his low voice. "I’m afraid I can’t make the call on this one. I’ll need to run it by Director Lowell."
He stood up. "I’ll go ask."
Everyone watched him leave the conference room.
Kyle Morgan immediately slumped into a more relaxed posture, propping his head on his hand. "Do you think Director Lowell will approve this plan?"
"Hard to say," Levi Hollis said, rubbing his chin. "The plan is reasonable, but it’s also a bit against the rules."
Sawyer sighed as well. "Yeah, that’s true. I don’t think Director Lowell will agree."
"That would be a real shame," Zachary Conway’s voice was filled with regret. "Those men are just awful!"
Kyle Morgan pursed his lips. "If I put myself in Kaiser’s shoes... man, I really feel for it. It just went out for a stroll and came home to find its entire family wiped out."
Zachary Conway’s eyes turned red. "I can’t even imagine what Kaiser must have felt in that moment."
Renee Jennings remained silent. She heard the System’s notification tone.

Renee Jennings opened the video of Kaiser eating again.

Henry Stark was back.
Kyle Morgan asked expectantly, "Boss, did Director Lowell agree?"

"Don’t worry." Henry Stark gave her a reassuring look. "I’ve got this."
