Chapter 266: Seems to Be Hiding a Secret
Chapter 266: Chapter 266: Seems to Be Hiding a Secret
After delivering the bird’s nest soup to Luna, Miss York sat down beside Luna’s boyfriend, Zayden Wyatt, her eyes red-rimmed. Joy followed her into the living room.
Seeing this, Zayden Wyatt lowered his voice in concern. "Babe, why are you crying?"
Miss York’s voice had a nasal tinge as she said plaintively, "I just brought the bird’s nest soup to Luna, and the bowl was so hot. It really burned my hand."
Joy couldn’t help but snipe, "What a drama queen!"
"Let me see." Zayden Wyatt instantly grabbed her hand, his face etched with concern. "She could have just come out to get it herself."
Miss York said in a low voice, "Luna asked me to bring it to her room. I felt bad refusing."
"Why is she so lazy?" Zayden Wyatt furrowed his brow, his tone laced with displeasure. "You’re just too kind and soft-hearted. You need to learn to say no to people."
"But Luna is your girlfriend," Miss York explained gently. "I was afraid if I refused, she’d get upset and take it out on you. I couldn’t bear to see you treated unfairly."
"Babe." Zayden Wyatt raised a hand to stroke her face, his eyes filled with tenderness and emotion. "You’re so good to me."
Miss York placed her hand on the back of his and said coyly, "Silly. Isn’t it only natural for me to be good to you?"
Joy exclaimed, "How is that ’what you should do’? He’s someone else’s boyfriend, and you’re someone else’s wife! Where’s your conscience? Where are your values? Where is your morality?"
In the room, the shy girl had been about to dump the bowl of bird’s nest soup into the trash can. But after a moment’s thought, she poured it into the pocket of a piece of clothing hanging in the closet, which made her feel slightly better.
She said to Renee Jennings, "I’m not sleeping tonight. I’m going to find a chance to record a video of them cheating."
"Okay." Renee Jennings smiled faintly. "I’ll be waiting for your good news."
"Definitely." The shy girl expressed her thanks and waved. "Renee, you can connect to the next person. Bye-bye."
After the shy girl disconnected, Renee Jennings began to connect with the second viewer.
As soon as the connection was successful, a cute girl wearing a bunny-ear headband appeared on the split screen and let out an excited shriek. "AHHH, I finally got through!"
Renee Jennings glanced at the other person’s ID and said with a smile, "Hello, ’Sophie Who Loves Looking at Hot Guys’."
"Hi, Renee!" Sophie’s cheeks turned crimson, her eyes filled with a smile. "I’m so happy! I didn’t scare you just now, did I?"
"No," Renee Jennings shook her head.
[But you scared me!]
[You scared me too! I was so scared I threw my phone!!!]
[Waaah, that girl is so lucky.]
Sophie saw the bullet comments and quickly apologized, "Sorry, sorry, I didn’t mean to. I was just too excited."
After a bit of small talk, Renee Jennings got down to business. "Sophie, do you have any pets?"
"Yes, yes, I do." Sophie leaned down as she spoke, scooping up an orange cat and holding it up to the camera. "His name is Goldie. My boyfriend and I found him when we were out one day."
Renee Jennings looked at the slightly chubby orange cat and said with a smile, "You’ve raised Goldie well."
"Actually, my boyfriend is the one who raises him," Sophie said, sticking her tongue out playfully. "I’m really lazy. My boyfriend is the one who usually feeds the cat and scoops the litter."
Renee Jennings nodded. "Your boyfriend sounds great."
"He’s a very patient and loving person." A look of adoration crossed Sophie’s face, but it quickly turned into a frown. "But I think he’s been acting a little strange lately..."
"What’s wrong?" Renee Jennings asked.
Sophie bit her lip and hesitated. "If I talk about relationship problems, will you all think I’m shallow?"
"Why would we?" Renee Jennings smiled, her tone gentle. "Emotions are a natural human instinct. They’re a very important part of life."
Hearing her say that, Sophie finally relaxed. "Okay, I’ll start then. My boyfriend used to be really clingy with me, but lately, as soon as he gets home, he shuts himself in the study. He even locks the door from the inside and won’t let me in."
"Sigh..." She sighed. "I feel like he’s pushing me away, like he’s hiding some kind of secret."
"So, does Goldie go into the study?" Renee Jennings asked.
Sophie nodded vigorously. "Goldie does. That’s why I want you to ask him for me. What on earth is my boyfriend doing in the study as soon as he gets home?"
Goldie meowed, "Don’t ask! It’s not a bad thing, anyway!"
Upon hearing this, Renee Jennings relayed the message to Sophie.
Sophie frowned, her face full of doubt. "If it’s not a bad thing, why is he hiding from me? Why can’t he let me know?"
Renee Jennings didn’t understand either. She blinked and looked at the orange cat. "Goldie, what do you say?"
Goldie said worriedly, "Dad said it’s a surprise. If Mom finds out, it won’t be a surprise anymore! Streamer, can you please tell Mom to stop asking?"
"Sophie, since Goldie says it’s not a bad thing, why don’t you try to relax and wait and see?" Renee Jennings said gently. "Maybe there’s a surprise waiting for you."
"A surprise?" Sophie frowned and thought for a moment. "I’m still worried."
[What’s there to worry about? Do you suspect your boyfriend is cheating?]
[Goldie already said it’s not a bad thing, stop overthinking it.]
"I don’t suspect he’s cheating," Sophie explained. "I’m worried something happened to him, and he’s bearing it all alone because he doesn’t want me to worry."
Goldie cried out, "It’s nothing, Mom, don’t worry!"
"You really love your boyfriend," Renee Jennings said with a light chuckle.
Sophie admitted openly, "Yes, I love him a lot. We were high school classmates. I had really low self-esteem back then, and he was the one who secretly wrote letters to encourage me..."
[After watching this stream for so long, we finally get a beautiful love story!!!]
[Your boyfriend really does sound like a great guy.]
"Or maybe I just see him through rose-colored glasses," Sophie said, sticking her tongue out.
[Your boyfriend is so great, and you still ’love looking at hot guys’? That’s not right. It’s not fair to your boyfriend.]
Sophie saw the comment and laughed. "Ever consider that the hot guy I’m talking about *is* my boyfriend?"
The words had barely left her mouth when the lights in her living room suddenly went out.
Sophie’s heart skipped a beat. "Why did the power suddenly go out?"
"Is it a power outage?" Renee Jennings asked. "Check if your Wi-Fi is still working."
"The Wi-Fi is still working," Sophie said, frowning. "Did the light just burn out then?"
Renee Jennings warned her not to go outside. "Call property management and have them take a look."
"Okay," Sophie quickly agreed. The next second, she said in a panic, "I... I think I hear someone opening my door."
Everyone in the entire stream tensed up.
[Is there danger???]
[Get to a room, lock the door from the inside, and call the police!]
Sophie had just gotten to her feet when the front door swung open. A man was standing there, holding a red, heart-shaped cake. The flickering candlelight illuminated his gentle smile.
