Chapter 960: Bet(2).
Chapter 960: Bet(2).
Alan Peccator is a bit of an enigma to the Awakened community. He is someone who doesn’t involve himself in it, despite the merits. Awakened have many communities on Earth apart from Guilds and other work-related stuff. Awakened like to flaunt their power and wealth, and at the same time, seek connections with other awakened.
Everyone does this, because it is important, and shows them how special they are. Alan Peccator is one of the rare few that does not. He does not go to parties, He is not involved in events at Shield. The only event he is ever involved in was the Academic Convergence, where he shocked the world and promptly left the main stage.
He is not someone who is active in the awakened circles, and this confuses most, but at the same time, adds intrigue.
What is he hiding?
Does he think he is better than us?
Is his power fake?
Does he even exist?
What is known about Alan Peccator? First of all, even if limited, they are all great.
First and foremost, he is the first spatial mage to ever grace Earth. And for a long while, the prestige of that has remained.
His spatial rings are ludicrous, while not as expensive as one may assume, they are extremely important in long dungeon runs. The number of times his spatial rings have saved lives is countless. Many Awakened, those that primarily do expeditions and long dungeon runs praise them to no end. They are a life-saver.
His spatial rings are also a form of status, anyone who owns them is regarded with some degree of respect. It is both due to the power of the rings, and the scarcity. Alan Peccator is the sole producer after all.
Twilight has them in abundance, to the point that every damn team has them, but due to the fact that it is Alan Peccator’s guild, they are somewhat excluded.
His spatial rings are also far from his only legendary exploit.
He is also the first and strongest student of the Sword Saint, a living legend. Aside from this, Clearing the Tower of Trials, defeating the menace that had stopped every challenger at floor thirty deserves praise.
For a long time, The Heavenly Demon had decimated whatever Earth had thrown at him, and the only one to break through that wall had been Alan Peccator.
And he had not stopped at that, he had gone even further, clearing the entire tower. Bringing a structure many thought to be impossible to break down. He had cleared the Tower, and even now, no one really thought they could do the same.
Sure, some prideful and arrogant young masters did come and say he was nothing special, but who gave a damn about them? The video of his bout against Elijah Ardor in the Tower was still one of the most viewed on every platform.
It was a fight no one expected to come from awakened that low in rank. Two entire dragons throwing whatever they had at one another. Alan Peccator had won that fight as well, against the golden boy of the association. That victory only increased in fame as Elijah became more famous through his missions.
But his most greatest achievement, was not anything done on this planet, but what had expanded the horizons of humanity. Alan Peccator had found another world, achieved what humanity had been trying to do even before the cataclysm.
The general populace still did not believe Gigantium was a thing, or were skeptical... but the awakened? None of them could deny it, especially Amanda, who had been there.
It was an entirely different world, an actual planet that was not Earth! Therefore, when one recalled all of these exploits, one untouched by outside influence for a long time. It was filled to the brim with natural treasures, and would be the main focus of humanity for a long period of time the moment they survived the war.
Gigantium would open so many doors, and Amanda knew the Alliance was pressuring the leaders of humanity for the coordinates of it.
She, much like everyone else, was unaware that Sabrina had actually found those coordinates, though it may have been a stroke of pure luck. Everyone believed Alan Peccator had found those coordinates, created the portal, and had hoped to monopolize Gigantium before his plans were foiled.
Regardless, he was nothing short of legendary, and this is what intrigued everyone. He was a legendary figure, and was a damn hermit at the same time! Amanda could not bring her head around it.
As someone who had grown in a family with their coffers deep, and hands in politics, it was something she could not even begin to understand. Achievements were a weapon in the political arena, and from the her very birth, she had been thrown in that arena, scrambling to use anything she could to gain some standing.
She couldn’t understand someone like him, who had so many feats and did not bother making connections with the rest of the awakened on Earth. Anyone would be eager to talk to him, and do him favors.
But what did he do? Laze around, be a damn hermit and not capitalize on his achievements, which was why Amanda fully believed they were fake. Not even an insane person would abstain from such a thing. Alan Peccator had to be fake.
Which was why she stunned speechless at the current moment, when he had singlehandedly killed the entire monster horde. She was not alone, as everyone else was the same. Many people here had come to see what Alan Peccator was capable of, informants of many guilds and organizations.
After all, nobody could just believe the rumors from Twilight members, now could they? Some of the people here were strictly informants, from Sacramento, the Association, Titan, Behemoth, and other guilds and awakened unions eager to know about him.
With a single, gentle clap, Alan Peccator had decimated the entire monster horde, and top it all off, he stepped on the air as he casually made his way towards the wall once more. And the greatest thing, besides the obvious show of force by walking on air?
Everyone had an observational skill or two active, all those that relied on mana. And what did they see? Alan’s reserves completely fine, and they were even growing by the second. That huge attack, that ludicrous attack was done not even using his strongest energy.
Many had concluded that Alan Peccator had used Aura to perform the attack, but they were completely in the dark about the intricacies of such an energy, but were aware of one thing.
Nothing said about him was a lie. And that was why they struggled to understand him. For if there were no lies about his power, why did he not use any? Why did he stay silent so long? Why did he not bother interacting with others and increasing forces? Why?
Silently, the informants left, phones in hand. The awakened remained on the wall, staring at the massacre before them in utter silence. Thousands of them had gathered for what was supposed to be another hard battle, and one ’kid’ had taken care of it with a single clap.
Alan stepped down on the wall, taking in the gazes of the Twilight recruits and everyone else with glee, even if he didn’t show it. He had wanted to let loose for a while, against someone that wasn’t entire tiers above him in power.
The ’fight’ against the monsters wasn’t anything fun, but the gazes he received afterwards? Everything! After being unsealed, he felt it necessary to do something like this. Not only did it make sure no one would question him again during the mission... but it was an exhilarating feeling!
Who didn’t want to show off once in a while? Alan had especially been craving it, he had wanted to stretch his muscles for so long! The gazes of the weak, lesser humans felt amazing. Of course, they had to realize his superiority!
’Oops. Got to keep that pride in check.’
He laughed out loud, suppressing the pride of his genetics. This sense of superiority, or arrogance could be dangerous in the long run. Alan stretched a little, as he walked over to Amanda Wells, and asked.
"What did I win?"
The woman was silent, still staring at the ground below, where thousands of monsters lay, cut cleanly in half. The city officials had yet to send in the dismantling teams, perhaps waiting for Alan’s approval. Honestly, he didn’t care for the corpses of pathetic weak level monsters.
He had planned to give them to the city from the start, what Alan really cared about was winning against Titan.
Although it was hardly anything difficult, there was still a bet, no?
And the winner naturally had to claim his reward, Alan only wondered what it would be.
’I really should have discussed this before hand... I got too heated.’
He chuckled.
