Chapter 950: To Las Vegas! (2)
The details of the mission were fairly simple, the group was to set off to Las Vegas, a famous city in what was formerly the united states of America. The city, to Alan’s knowledge, had been managed by the Hiddleston family, Lucas’s family, but had been purged due to colluding with the demons.
He was unaware how Lucas took that information, and also unaware of his friend’s whereabouts. According to Alice, he had left for Gigantium, and there was no way to currently contact him.
’Maybe he’s getting stronger to get revenge? Or at least rebuild his family.’
He thought, as he soared through the air, limiting his speed severely for the aircraft behind them. In his mind, Lucas didn’t seem the type of guy to go to great lengths to get revenge for his family, but who knew? He didn’t think he knew him well enough.
Although a reformed pervert, he was still someone who held a great deal of pride, one that Alan had to give to him, being the Sword Saint’s student without any special power other than determination was worthy of it.
He didn’t have the special powers Alan had, neither did he have the blessing of a former Supreme, and a unique element, like Alexander. Still, he managed to keep up. For a moment, he was slightly worried.
But then he dismissed it quickly. If Lucas ever found out, he would never hear the end of it. Just the thought of him laughing was gnawing at Alan’s mind. If he was still alive, after what happened to his family, it was likely that Harrison had forgave him, either that, or he had no connection with the demons his family was colluding with.
Alan was leaning towards the latter, any sign of demonic activity would have long been detected by the Sword Saint, and if not him, Alan would be next. He was incredibly sensitive to [Chaos], and other such energies, after all.
He shook his head, getting that out of his mind, as he focused more on the information of the city. According to the file, Las Vegas was a prominent city before the invasions, being one of the most famous cities in the world, but afterwards, it had lost some prominence.
It was still the gambling capital of the world, but thick walls had been constructed at the edges of the city, and within as well, separating it into different sectors. It had a large slum district, but that was overshadowed by the other districts, which generated a stupendous amount of revenue. Titan was the only guild that had a base in the city. Alan liked to believe that was solely because of Daniel Park and his fondness of gold.
Maybe the slick bastard went there often, gambling his wealth away, or increasing it. Other than that, only the Association and the World Government had a base there. Titan had offered accommodations, but Alan had made sure he and the rest of Twilight just stayed at a hotel far away.
He disliked Daniel Park, and his gut was telling him to stay away from that man, not out of fear, but out of pure distaste. If it came to a confrontation, Alan had no doubt he would win, without even revealing half his cards.
’...Still, what the hell is happening inside there?’
A while had passed since they departed, it would still take an hour or two to arrive at Las Vegas, and Alan, bored as he was, couldn’t help himself but take a peek at what was happening inside. With the help of Dragon eyes, and various other magic, it was quite easy to see what was happening inside and hear it as well.
The people from the Association and World Government were calm, silently waiting to arrive, but it was another case entirely for the three guilds. Everyone from Titan, Behemoth, and Twilight were throwing nasty insults at each other. Alan was unaware who started it, but was quite pleased to see Alexander and the other Twilight recruits not backing down.
Henry was an active participant from Behemoth’s side, while Elaine remained quiet, reading a book and ignoring everything else. Alan noticed that Amanda Wells, as well as the two old guys in charge of the Association and the World Government had no intention to intervene, and he agreed.
Why stop a spectacle? He was enjoying the insults being thrown as well. Henry, in particular, was keen on riling Alexander up.
"Why is the guy who was nothing but a sack of bones saying shit? Last time I saw you, I mistook you for an undead!"
Henry said, reminding Alexander of his times from when he was bullied. Alan honestly thought Alexander would lose it at that, but he managed to keep calm, although mostly thanks to Olivia being there to hold him back.
For a second, he wondered what would happen if a fight broke inside. Considering that they were all awakened, aside from the people from the World Government... Amanda Wells would probably intervene and put a stop to it, if she didn’t... someone from the Association would.
The Aircraft couldn’t take an offensive skill being fired on the inside, after all. He was curious to see how the conflict would escalate, until somehow, it became directed at him. Shortly after a recruit from Twilight commented at how Behemoth was now rank three, someone from Behemoth snapped.
"All you twilight fucks do is get carried by the Lizard flying in front, without him, your nothing."
Alexander and Olivia’s faces dropped before he even stopped talking, focusing on a single, particular word. Or to the Dragon Race, an incredibly offensive slur. The recruits from Twilight didn’t know why their seniors had such pale faces, and neither did everyone else.
They found out why, when an enraged voice resounded in all of their minds.
What the fuck did you call me?!
A portal appeared beneath the youth who commented that, Alan grabbed him from outside by the hand, and sped up... to maximum speed. He made a few rounds around the aircraft, before throwing him back inside.
A white corpse, frozen not from frost mana but from pure fear and sheer speed appeared in the aircraft. He was still alive, but unconscious. His pants were wet, indicating he had wet himself during the ’punishment’.
Alan didn’t hear a single word inside after that.
