Chapter 1317: The Return of the Queen

Fortunately, Sokada once again came to the rescue. He returned this time not alone, but with a companion. From the ribbon-like ornaments the Protoss wore around her slender body, she should be a female Protoss.

Sokada sat heavily on the triangular chair next to Sheyan. The chair groaned in protest, sounding as if it would break down any moment, but it persisted in the end. Sokada picked up a large glass and drained the brown liquid in it in one big gulp, then sighed in satisfaction. He then introduced them to each other.

“This is the legendary human Brigadier General, Seaman. He’s the strongest human I’ve ever seen. I think he might have some Protoss blood in him. This is Divina, our chief Phoenix pilot and a member of the Psionic Council. She’s the most beautiful lady I’ve ever seen.”

Sheyan took a glance at Divina, smiled and raised his glass. Divina looked back at Sheyan with cold eyes. The “ribbons” around her gathered and formed an odd oval symbol in the air. She then nodded at Sheyan. Evidently, that was the etiquette of Protoss ladies.

Divina’s clear voice echoed in Sheyan’s mind, “Human, why do you pour water directly into your body? Aren’t you worried that it would flush away the nutrients inside you?”

Sheyan was stunned. It took him a while to understand the meaning behind her words.

Should he explain that drinking water could detoxify him and nourish his skin? That fresh water was an indispensable part of human life, able to flush harmful substances, such as calcium, phosphorus, uric acid, oxalic acid and so on, out of the human body?

But more importantly, Sheyan suddenly realised that drinking water might actually be harmful to the Protoss. The Protoss anatomy was obviously vastly different from the human anatomy.

Their interior structure likely maintained a perfect inner balance at all times. Water would dissolve away a large amount of organic and inorganic substances from their bodies, destroying their inner balance. Therefore, the seemingly harmless water would actually be poisonous to the Protoss if they drank it.

Sheyan was still organising his thoughts, trying to find the words to explain his situation to Divina, when the “ribbons” flying around Divina’s body reached out to Sheyan and circled around his body.

“It’s okay, human, you don’t have to explain it. It seems that my understanding is a little biased. The human constitution should be totally different from ours. It was my mistake to try and gauge your situation from my perspective,” said Divina.

Divina still seemed like she wanted to say something else, but Sokadara already dragged her away. They embraced each other and started getting affectionate with no regards for anyone else in the vicinity. In fact, the reason this place existed in the first place was to let the Protoss alleviate their tension before the battle, as well as to let them have fun and relieve their pressure afterwards.

When Divina, a popular figure here, was about to be conquered by Sokada, many Protoss started to gather around in an attempt to lure the beauty away, pushing Sheyan aside in the process.

The marginalised “old man” from before once again came to the side of the neglected Sheyan and spoke to him.

“I can’t believe it. So you’re the legendary Brigadier General. Even my old man, who’s so old that he already has one foot in the grave, has heard everything about you. I didn’t expect you to look so humble.”

Sheyan smiled. “What’s your name, sir? Well… There’s not necessarily much connection between a person’s strength and outer appearance, is there? See how frail the High Templars look. Their fingers are as slender and pale as works of art , but it won’t stop them from unleashing the most terrifying Psionic Storm that can reduce thousands of enemies to ashes! ”

The old fellow was rubbing a glass with familiar ease. Upon hearing Sheyan’s analogy, his hand suddenly halted. He sighed in a low voice.

“Yes, indeed, they’re powerful, powerful enough to…reduce everything to ashes. But in the end, what remains of them but bones and ashes?”

As he muttered to himself, he threw away the glass in his hand and poured himself a drink. The drink was a very magical and pretty light purple liquid which contained little glittering dots that looked like stars.

A Protoss accidentally stepped on the glass the old man discarded and happened to see what the old man was drinking. He was instantly shocked.

“Do you want to be thrown into the Star Prison by the Arbitration Council, Ol’ Kido? This glass is made from the bones of Cosmic Blue Jellyfish. It’s worth 13 honour points! The Starry Sky you’re drinking is worth 50 honour points! You’re done for!”

Ol’ Kido looked at the Protoss like he was looking at a fool, then silently extended two straws that seemed like beard under his jaw into the glass, and proceeded to drink the Starry Sky! His expression seemed to say that dozens of honour points were worth nothing to him at all.

Not only that, he immediately ordered a glass of the treasure of the bar, the Sea of Stars, and continued to gulp it down like a cow eating a prized flower. He actually raised the glass at the Protoss in provocation!

The Protoss, of course, felt insulted and provoked by O’l Kido’s actions. He instantly called in several Zealot military policemen that wore one-sided red armours. The Zealot military policemen stared at O’l Kido for a few moment, then grabbed the accuser by the neck and dragged him out.

O’l Kido witnessed all this with indifferent eyes. “Do you know why he was arrested?” he asked Sheyan miserably.

Sheyan actually had a good guess, but he still shook his head just to be safe. Ol’ Kido sighed and continued, “Because he made a false accusation against me. He believed that I won’t have enough money to pay the bills, but in fact, I’m much richer than he thought, because… I had seven children – four sons and three daughters. All of them have their names on the death list. Their deaths provided me with a shocking amount of death gratuities, so I can drink the most expensive wine. But I’d rather be poor and drink only water like you — sorry, I don’t mean any offence.”

Sheyan’s eyes brightened. “Is there anything you’d like me to do for you?”

“You’re very strong. Even that kid, Sokada, seems to think highly of you. I think you must be strong enough to kill some Zerg bastards. Only the death and grief of the Zerg can soothe my aching heart. Otherwise, even drinking the most expensive wine here will only bring me as much pain as drinking water,” Ol’ Kido calmly said, “First, please kill fifty Zergs. Let me see your strength.”

Sheyan instantly received some notifications:

[ You have received Hidden Chain Mission I: Ol’ Kido’s Wrath. ]

[ Mission Briefing: Ol’ Kido, who carries a blood feud, hopes you can kill fifty Zerg. You can come back to report after you perform the task. ]

[ Mission Note: If you want to get the lowest evaluation rating, you can just report back after you’ve killed 50 Zerglings. But please try your best to choose stronger Zerg as your targets, and if possible, make sure they vary in type. Only then will you achieve a high evaluation rating, giving you a chance to receive the follow-up mission. ]

[ Warning: This is a good mission, but please perform it according to your ability. Nothing is more important than your own life. The time limit for this chain mission is 24 hours. ]

Following that, Sheyan talked to Ol’ Kido for a while longer, and received another piece of valuable information: there would often be Protoss who came here to drink but did not have enough money to pay. When the military police were called in, most of them could only choose imprisonment, but a small number of them would chose to leave their valuables here as collateral.

Approximately half of these items were bought back by their original owners, but the other half were permanently forfeited! Sheyan thought that these items, many of which must be equipment, were great news for himself – at least it was great news for G-Spot!

Unfortunately, because his relationship level with Ol’ Kido was still too low, he was not even allowed to see these equipment. Sheyan felt as if he had lost something he just gained.

At that moment, a commotion broke out among the Protoss that were sitting near the bar door. They suddenly ran out one after another, and the uneasy emotion slowly spread to all the people in the establishment. Sheyan followed their gazes and looked towards the distance, only to feel an indescribable sense of heavy oppression coming from that vast darkness on the horizon. Then, horrifying blood red lightning broke through the sky! It was an unconventional Psionic Storm!

Witnessing this lightning, subdued whispering spread among the Protoss like the suddenly appearing Psionic Storm. That was because only one person in the entire universe had the ability to unleash this horrible mutated blood red Psionic Storm — the Queen of Blades, Sarah Kerrigan!

However, all of them knew that the Queen of Blades and Lord Uraki had both injured each other not that long ago. She was actually coming for them again so soon, while Lord Uraki was obviously still recovering from his injuries! The difference in the situations between both sides were obvious from a glance!

And with the arrival of the Queen of Blades, the Zerg’s attacking pattern changed from a frontal assault to a side assault. They started employing a multi-faceted harassment strategy usually only used by the less powerful side in a war. It required a higher degree of coordination and cohesion between various troops, but if it was used properly, the tactic could be very powerful. Just imagine how disgraceful it was for the side which had the overwhelming advantage in strength if they had to turtle up in their base because they were constantly being harassed!
