Chapter 508: I Want to Play
Chapter 508: Chapter 508: I Want to Play
In the compound, those two rascals were always dressed so respectably.
Even their toys were more numerous than anyone else’s, and many were from overseas.
Like that guitar, and that skateboard...
Now, Wang Liwen also wanted to do her best to return the kindness, to show Ye Feng and Han Xiaorui her goodwill.
The next day, Ye Feng got the plane tickets.
Flying with so many people was a considerable expense, but it was truly the fastest way to travel.
They could arrive in a single morning, without wasting too much time on the road.
The driver took Han Xiaorui, Ye Feng, the four children, Wu Jiao, Wu Yao, Sister Lian, and of course, the main character of this little drama: classmate Ye Ling, who had run away from home and gotten beaten up badly.
Ye Ling was wearing the new clothes his sister-in-law had bought for him, grinning from ear to ear. He pushed two suitcases with one hand and had a large backpack on.
He was sweating profusely from the effort but didn’t dare utter a single word of complaint.
Han Xiaorui led Pingping and An’an, while Wu Jiao and Wu Yao held Ningning and Zhuangzhuang.
Sister Lian pushed a suitcase with one hand, on top of which sat the four children’s crackers, milk bottles, and water cups.
Ye Feng got the same treatment as Ye Ling—he was in charge of pushing and carrying luggage.
"Big Bro, I’m so happy that you and Sis-in-law could come to Beijing," Ye Ling whispered, walking beside his older brother while carrying the bags.
Ye Feng glanced at him. "Isn’t it because we were worried about you? If anything happens in the future, give me a call. I can come over, or you can tell Mom and Dad you’re coming to my place. From now on, don’t just act on impulse."
"I know, Big Bro." Ye Ling nodded. Back then, his mind had gone completely blank; he’d just wanted to go to Shencheng, so he bought a ticket to Shencheng.
After a short wait, they began to board the plane.
Ye Ling was happily busy looking after his two older nieces and coaxing his little nephew and niece, but the smile on his face was one of genuine ease.
After a flight of just over two hours, the plane landed at Beijing Airport.
Ye Zheng had a meeting, so he didn’t come for the pickup.
Wang Liwen came to pick them up personally with Xiao Zheng. She had even arranged for a minibus with enough seats for everyone.
"Xiao Rui, Ye Feng, welcome to Beijing! Come home with me now. I’ve already prepared the rooms for you. You’re staying at our house tonight."
Ye Feng refused, "That’s not necessary, Aunt Wang. Uncle Xu has already tidied up the house here. We’ll stay there tonight."
Wang Liwen smiled. "You just said you’ll stay there *tonight*. For now, you’re coming to my house first. Your dad will be home from work soon! Ye Chen is at home, too. He wanted to come with me to the airport, but I thought he’d just be in the way, so I didn’t bring him."
"If I didn’t bring you all over, your dad and Ye Chen would both complain. Let’s go, let’s go now. We can sit and have a good chat. Xiao Rui has never been to Beijing, so it’s a perfect chance for me to introduce her to a few friends I’m close with."
Seeing how enthusiastic Wang Liwen was, Han Xiaorui felt it would be rude to refuse again. "Then we’ll have to trouble you, Aunt Wang."
"It’s no trouble at all, it’s what I should do." Wang Liwen smiled. "Usually when Ye Ling and Ye Chen go to your place, they trouble you for a month or two at a time, and I never stand on ceremony with you."
Han Xiaorui laughed heartily. "When Ye Ling and Ye Chen are at my place, I don’t treat them like relatives, I treat them like immediate family. Whatever we’re making is what they eat. If they don’t want it, they can go hungry or find something to eat outside themselves."
Wang Liwen nodded. "That’s how it should be. It’s right not to treat each other like strangers."
Ye Ling, on the other hand, was hiding in the back, worried his mother would scold and beat him. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw she was only focused on talking with his big brother and sister-in-law.
’Thank goodness Big Bro and Sis-in-law are here,’ he thought. ’Otherwise, I’d definitely be in for a harsh beating.’
Wang Liwen glanced at her evasive son, feeling a mix of heartache and anger.
’Oh well. For Han Xiaorui and Ye Feng’s sake, I’ll let him off the hook for today.’
’But tonight, I’ll definitely teach Ye Ling a good lesson.’
The vehicle drove for over an hour before finally stopping at the entrance.
Han Xiaorui and Ye Feng got out with the children. Wu Jiao and Sister Lian stayed behind, while Wu Yao went with the vehicle to take the luggage to their courtyard house.
Fortunately, the courtyard house wasn’t far from here.
"Snow! So much snow!" Pingping and An’an exclaimed, immediately running toward the garden, which was covered in a thick layer of snow.
Ye Ling quickly grabbed one niece in each hand. "Pingping, An’an, that’s a flower garden! You’ll trample the flowers under the snow, and they won’t be able to bloom next spring."
Hearing this, Pingping and An’an stopped in their tracks, their eyes filled with reluctance. "Second Uncle, I want to go sledding."
Ye Ling’s face lit up with a smile. "After we eat, I’ll take you sledding. I can also build a slide for you in the yard. Not only can you play on it, but Ningning and Zhuangzhuang can too."
"Okay, that’s great!" Pingping and An’an clapped their hands and obediently followed their Second Uncle, Ye Ling, inside.
Wang Liwen greeted the neighbors on both sides, enthusiastically introducing Han Xiaorui and Ye Feng.
They had moved here the year before last because of Ye Zheng’s promotion.
Most of these were new neighbors whom Ye Feng didn’t know.
Besides, he had joined the army at a young age, so he didn’t actually have many connections in Beijing, just a few childhood friends and army buddies.
Everyone knew that Ye Zheng had another son in Shencheng, but since he had never visited, they assumed the family relationship was poor.
But now, seeing Han Xiaorui and Wang Liwen chatting so warmly, they felt their relationship wasn’t what the rumors suggested.
Ye Chen shot out of the house like a little cannonball. "Big Bro! Sis-in-law! It’s so great that you could come! Did you bring me any presents?"
Hearing her youngest son’s words, Wang Liwen’s face flushed slightly as she jokingly scolded him, "Your brother and sister-in-law are so tired, and instead of quickly inviting them inside to rest, all you can think about is presents! You’re the one who looks like a present!"
Ye Chen chuckled and led his little nephew and niece inside. "Big Bro, Sis-in-law, please come in. I’ve made you some hot tea. Have a few sips to warm up."
"Third Uncle, I wanna play, I wanna play!" Ningning and Zhuangzhuang spotted a snowman in the yard and started backing away, little butts stuck out, not wanting to go inside.
Han Xiaorui patted their little bottoms. "Go to the bathroom and pee-pee first, then you can have Third Uncle take you out to play in the snow."
Ningning and Zhuangzhuang, who were just about to throw a tantrum on the ground, instantly became obedient. They went inside and immediately dashed to the bathroom to pee.
Afterward, the four little ones didn’t feel hungry at all and just pestered their Second Uncle and Third Uncle to take them outside to play in the snow.
Ye Chen packed a big bag of tasty snacks, then took his nieces and nephew outside to a slide made on a slope.
"Everyone, have some candy! Do me, Ye Chen, a favor and let my nephew and nieces use the slide."
When the other kids saw the colorfully wrapped candies Ye Chen brought out, they all gathered around.
After all, the slide was right there, and they’d get candy for letting the younger kids play.
"Ye Chen, your nieces and nephew are my nieces and nephew too! I’ll let them play," Zhou Xiang said with a smile, accepting a few chocolates and eating as he spoke.
Ye Ling and Ye Chen held a lot of sway in the compound.
Many kids came over for candy, clearing the slide for Pingping, An’an, Ningning, and Zhuangzhuang to play on.
