Chapter 1062: First Meeting With Bai Yun, Ji Yuan’s Contracted Beast
Chapter 1062: Chapter 1062: First Meeting With Bai Yun, Ji Yuan’s Contracted Beast
The exact instant Bai Xifeng popped open the delicate lid, a rich, intoxicatingly sweet medicinal fragrance immediately blanketed the air of the gazebo.
Bai Yun’s eyes lit up instantly at the scent, and even Ji Yuan cast a rare, curious glance toward the little bottle.
"Teacher Ji," Bai Xifeng asked politely, turning to her teacher, "may I please give Bai Yun one of my specialised beast pills as a greeting gift?"
"I certainly don’t mind." Ji Yuan replied smoothly. "As long as Bai Yun herself is entirely willing to accept it from you."
"Great!" Bai Xifeng grinned. Then she happily poured a single, glowing beast pill onto her open palm before gently extending her hand toward the graceful crane. "Bai Yun, this is my official first-meeting gift for you. I refined this beast pill myself from scratch. Will you do me the honour of accepting it?"
Bai Yun nodded her elegant head gently. She lowered her sharp beak and carefully, precisely picked up the pill from Bai Xifeng’s palm before swallowing it down.
Almost immediately, a wave of soothing, warm spiritual current spread throughout her entire avian body. Her pristine white feathers seemed to glow with an even more brilliant, healthy sheen than before. Bai Yun looked profoundly, pleasantly surprised by the sheer quality of the medicine.
"As a token of my sincere thanks..." Bai Yun spoke softly in her mind, slowly raising one of her large, beautiful wings toward the girl. "You may take one of my feathers."
"Oh?" Bai Xifeng’s hand paused, and she immediately looked toward Ji Yuan for permission. "Can I really?"
"He is offering it to you entirely of his own free will." Ji Yuan replied, gesturing slightly. "Take it. The shedding feather of an Aetherial Ink Crane is an extremely rare material, exceptionally useful when crafting high-grade inscription brushes or writing high-tier, volatile runes."
"I see!" Bai Xifeng nodded happily, her practical mind immediately appreciating the gift. "Then I will gratefully accept."
She carefully reached forward with gentle fingers and plucked a single, pristine white feather from the underside of Bai Yun’s wing. The feather hummed faintly, glowing with a pure, concentrated spiritual energy.
The moment the feather came loose, however, Bai Xifeng’s expression immediately shifted into one of deep guilt.
"Are you alright?" Bai Xifeng asked worriedly, leaning closer to inspect the wing. "It did not hurt too much, did it? I tried to be as gentle as possible."
"Not at all." Bai Yun replied softly, his tone amused. "I barely felt a single thing."
Bai Xifeng, however, was not at all convinced. There was absolutely no way plucking a feather from a living creature could be completely painless. She immediately reached into her spatial pouch and pulled out a small, translucent jar of specialised soothing medicinal cream. Without even waiting for a formal sign of permission, she gently and meticulously applied the cool, aromatic ointment directly to the tiny spot where the feather had just been removed.
"There..." Bai Xifeng smiled with immense satisfaction, stepping back. "This should completely eliminate any lingering stinging or discomfort."
Bai Yun was genuinely, deeply surprised. He had lived for a very long time, and he had never expected a human cultivator to care so genuinely about such a minor, insignificant thing. The icy, refreshing sensation from the medicinal cream spread pleasantly beneath her thick feathers, soothing his skin.
"Thank you, little girl." Bai Yun said softly, his impression of the student soaring.
He then turned his head toward Ji Yuan before speaking again. "Master, the energy is settling, so I shall return to rest first."
He turned one final time toward Bai Xifeng. "Let us definitely meet again another time."
"Hmm!" Bai Xifeng smiled brightly, waving her hand. "See you again soon, Bai Yun!"
She gently, affectionately patted the crane’s soft wing one last time. The majestic bird gave one final, incredibly graceful nod of her head before dissolving into a brilliant beam of pure white light, returning to the soul space.
After Bai Yun left, Bai Xifeng finally let out a massive, heavily relieved sigh of all her built-up tension. "Since you already have such an incredible contracted beast, Teacher Ji, absolutely nobody in their right mind will ever suspect that we secretly coveted or hid the Beast King for ourselves."
"Hmm." Ji Yuan simply nodded, a rare trace of amusement in his dark eyes.
"Well..." Bai Xifeng dramatically stretched her sore arms over her head and let out a massive, unmasked yawn. "Now that the crisis is handled, I am thinking of finally getting some much-needed sleep."
"Hmm... You have worked hard. You may go." Ji Yuan nodded in approval.
Bai Xifeng looked toward the heavy, reinforced entrance of the Inscriber Division one last time before she turned to leave.
"Teacher Ji, you should really get some proper rest too." Bai Xifeng offered him a reassuring, soft smile. "Don’t worry about anything outside. My beasts will continue fiercely guarding our division walls for the rest of the night."
"Hmm... I understand." Ji Yuan gave a small, respectful nod.
Bai Xifeng respectfully bowed to her beloved teacher before turning around and walking with tired, heavy steps back toward her personal quarters.
The moment she pushed open the heavy wooden door and entered her room, her eyes softened. She immediately saw Baihu still sleeping deeply and peacefully right in the centre of her bed. His tiny breathing had already become much steadier, deeper, and healthier than it had been hours before.
Bai Xifeng smiled softly, a wave of pure affection washing over her. She walked over to the edge of the mattress and carefully, meticulously nudged the little tiger slightly to one side so she would not crush his injuries, before lying down right beside him on the soft sheets.
