Chapter 1054: Barrier Destroyed
Chapter 1054: Chapter 1054: Barrier Destroyed
None of them dared to imagine the horrific consequences for the students if the protective formations were completely destroyed and the invaders flooded the campus.
Even so, the Array Master teachers did not allow themselves to become distracted by the terrifying display. Sweat continuously dripped from their foreheads into their eyes as they desperately struggled to maintain the formations, constantly pouring their own spiritual Qi into the runic nodes to repair the expanding cracks while resisting the overwhelming, crushing pressure pushing in from the outside.
Unfortunately, there was only so much humanly possible for them to do against an entire army of masters.
One hour later, with a deafening, catastrophic explosion that shook the surrounding mountain ranges, the first layer of the ancient ancestral protective formation finally shattered into countless glittering streams of spiritual light before completely dissolving into nothingness.
The invaders, however, did not have time to celebrate their victory for long. A second, equally magnificent protective formation immediately revealed itself directly behind the ruins of the first.
However, unlike the ancient ancestral formation that had protected the academy for countless centuries, this second layer had been jointly constructed and anchored by the academy’s own contemporary Array Master teachers. Even though it was still an incredibly powerful defensive formation by modern standards, it was naturally and fundamentally weaker than the ancient ancestral array.
As the outside experts coordinated their attacks and slammed their might together once again, countless jagged cracks instantly shot across the surface of the second protective barrier.
The immense, sudden backlash of the impact struck every single Array Master currently maintaining the formation.
"Pfft!"
One of the veteran Array Master teachers suddenly stiffened, coughing out a large mouthful of fresh blood before collapsing heavily onto the stone ground. His face instantly turned a deathly, translucent pale colour, and his spiritual aura weakened significantly.
Qiao Wenhao’s heart skipped a beat, and he immediately rushed over to the fallen man’s side. Without a moment of hesitation, he reached into his robes, took out several high-grade healing elixirs, and quickly fed them to the injured teacher.
Only after the potent medicinal effects began actively circulating through his damaged meridians did the teacher’s complexion gradually recover some of its natural colour.
"Thank you, Principal Qiao..." The teacher gasped, forcing his weak body to try to stand despite his critical condition. "I need to get back up. I will return to help everyone maintain the formation lines."
"No." Qiao Wenhao said, firmly pressing a hand onto the teacher’s shoulder and shaking his head. "Stay exactly where you are."
"But, Principal..." The teacher wanted to protest.
"You have already severely exhausted too much of your core spiritual Qi." Qiao Wenhao interrupted him in a serious, non-negotiable tone. "If you force yourself to continue channelling energy into the node right now, you would not just permanently damage your cultivation base, you may very well lose your life."
Hearing those blunt, heavy words, the teacher reluctantly clenched his fists against the dirt before lowering his head in unwilling, painful acceptance. Meanwhile, the catastrophic attacks from outside never stopped for a single second.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The second protective formation continued trembling violently under the relentless, merciless barrage. Unable to endure the terrifying, mounting pressure any longer, more and more of the academy’s Array Master teachers began suffering severe internal backlash from their connected nodes.
One after another, they coughed up blood before collapsing to the ground, completely exhausting every last drop of their available spiritual Qi. With every single teacher who fell from the lines, the overall structural strength of the second protective formation weakened even further.
The cracks multiplied at an alarming rate. They spread farther and farther across the entire golden barrier, resembling a giant, glowing spider’s web stretching across the darkened sky.
Finally...
BOOM!!
With one last earth-shattering, apocalyptic explosion, the second grand protective formation could no longer withstand the endless, concentrated bombardment from the relentless alliance of experts.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
Countless fractures and glowing fissures rapidly spread across the enormous golden barrier, looking exactly like a giant, shimmering spider’s web stretching across the sky. The entire formation was shattered completely into oblivion. Millions of glittering fragments of raw spiritual energy rained down from the sky like a dazzling, chaotic meteor shower before gradually dissolving into countless microscopic particles of fading light.
The academy’s final line of defence had officially fallen.
"Hahaha!" One of the vanguard experts burst into a booming, arrogant roar of laughter. "Finally! We’ve managed to breach and enter Tianlong School!"
Without the slightest shred of hesitation or caution, dozens of the experts stepped through the smoking, shattered entrance. Their overwhelming, collective spiritual pressure instantly exploded outward, spreading throughout every corridor and courtyard of the academy like a physical weight.
They glanced down contemptuously toward the exhausted teachers lying scattered across the stone ground. Many of the faculty members had already completely drained nearly all of their internal spiritual energy while desperately trying to maintain the grand formations. Several were covered in fresh blood from the node backlashes, while others struggled just to keep themselves standing upright.
"You should have simply surrendered to us from the very beginning." Another elder sneered arrogantly, stepping past them. "We already warned you not to resist our alliance. But you fools insisted on opposing us anyway."
He looked down at the bleeding, injured teachers with undisguised mockery and malice. "Look at yourselves now. You have accomplished absolutely nothing today except getting yourselves permanently crippled and injured."
"Enough wasting time. Let’s stop lingering here. The slumbering Beast King is our absolute priority. Move!" Another impatient expert waved his wide sleeve dismissively, cutting him off.
Like a flock of predatory birds, the entire group immediately shot toward the heart of Tianlong School, turning into countless blazing streams of colored light.
