Chapter 223: Is There No One Who Can’t Stand Him and Will Beat Him to Death?
Chapter 223: Chapter 223: Is There No One Who Can’t Stand Him and Will Beat Him to Death?
A high Superpower Level was actually a burden at a time like this. After all, the higher one’s Superpower Level, the more prone their Spiritual Sea was to problems.
Fu Cheng wasn’t unhappy about this at all. Instead, he made a silent calculation in his mind.
’There are about four months until the New Year.’
’I hope I’ll be able to stand up and have a reunion dinner at the table with Shen Lu, instead of being stuck in bed.’
Shen Lu paid for the first phase of the treatment. It came out to a little over 20,000 Star Coins, which was quite expensive.
She didn’t stay for the rehabilitation therapy. Ye Fan alone was enough.
Before leaving, Shen Lu made a trip to the orthopedics ward.
Liu Yaozu’s surgery hadn’t been complicated. In this new century with such advanced technology, it took less than an hour before he was rolled out of the operating room.
He was already back in his hospital room now.
"I’m not eating this crap, take it away!" Liu Yaozu’s arrogant, booming voice was perfectly clear even from outside the door. Shen Lu paused, not pushing the door open just yet. "She says she doesn’t have it, so she doesn’t have it? Are you listening to her bullshit?! You two idiots, you don’t even know when you’re being scammed!"
Yang Jing said timidly, "Yaozu, don’t talk like that. She’s your own sister..."
"So what if she’s my sister? Isn’t Shen Lan the one paying for me? She’s not even as good as that little bitch!"
Liu Qiang said, "Yaozu, your sister has her own difficulties. Her boss really is a tough person to deal with, very fierce."
"And I’m easy to deal with? Whatever, I’m not eating Insect Cakes. You go get her. I want to talk to her myself!"
Shen Lu chose that exact moment to push the door open and walk in.
"How was the surgery? Was it successful?"
Shen Lu’s appearance was so sudden that the three people in the room jumped in fright.
"Successful. The doctor said he can be discharged in another three days. He also said that as long as your brother’s arm heals properly, it’ll work just as well as before," Yang Jing said, quickly getting to her feet and cheerfully relaying the good news to Shen Lu.
"You still have the nerve to show your face?!" The moment Liu Yaozu opened his mouth, he cranked the tension in the room to the max. "Shen Lu, get on your fucking knees for me!"
Even though Shen Lu knew Liu Yaozu was an unpredictable person, she still had to take a long, deep breath after hearing him say something like that.
’How does a good-for-nothing scoundrel like him live to be this old?’
’Hasn’t anyone gotten so fed up with him that they beat him to death?’
"Your voice is full of energy. Looks like you’re not in any discomfort." Shen Lu gave a small smile and didn’t take the bait. Instead, she turned her head to speak with Yang Jing. "I gave Dad 100 Star Coins. If you’re frugal, it should last until he’s discharged. I’ll take you all home then."
"Shen Lu, are you deaf? I’m talking to you!" Liu Yaozu had been the most doted-on person in the family since he was little. When he spoke, the entire family had to listen and obey.
Now that Shen Lu had ignored him repeatedly, he was furious. Disregarding the doctor’s orders to rest quietly after surgery, he got up and tried to grab Shen Lu’s hair.
Liu Qiang quickly wrapped his arms around his son, and Yang Jing was scared half to death.
"Yaozu, what are you doing! The doctor told you not to move around for the next couple of days. If the bone they just set gets displaced, you’ll need another surgery."
Liu Yaozu completely ignored Liu Qiang and his wife, pointing at Shen Lu with his left hand. "Who the fuck do you think you are? Get on your fucking knees and kowtow! Apologize!"
Shen Lu looked at him like he was an idiot, then turned and walked away without looking back.
She wasn’t about to argue with a lunatic. Ignoring him was the best form of retaliation.
As expected, Liu Yaozu was thoroughly provoked. He crazily pushed his parents aside and chased after her out of the room.
"Shen Lu! Shen Lu, you dog-born fucking bitch! If you dare take one more step, I’ll break your legs!"
Hearing this, Shen Lu actually stopped. She looked back at Liu Yaozu and beckoned provocatively with her finger.
’Like she’s afraid of him getting physical?!’
Liu Yaozu had an explosive temper to begin with. Provoked by Shen Lu like this, he rushed forward with a kick.
He said he’d break Shen Lu’s legs, and he meant to break Shen Lu’s legs.
He aimed a powerful kick right at Shen Lu’s shin, putting all his strength into it.
Having spent years as a street punk, he didn’t know much else, but he was a master of dirty, underhanded tricks. He’d broken the shinbones of four or five people this way before; he was very experienced.
"CRACK!"
The crisp sound of a bone snapping echoed in the hallway, followed by a heart-wrenching roar of pain that brought everyone out of their rooms. A young nurse from the nurse’s station, not understanding what happened, came over to ask about the situation.
Shen Lu pointed at Liu Yaozu, who had collapsed on the floor, clutching his own shin and crying a mess of snot and tears. She sneered, "He might have some mental problems. He kicked his own leg and broke it."
The young nurse recognized Liu Yaozu but not Shen Lu. Seeing how calm and unconcerned she was, she assumed she was just a passerby.
"Liu Yaozu, why didn’t you tell us you have a mental illness? You’ll be held responsible if concealing your condition leads to poor treatment outcomes!"
Liu Yaozu had ten thousand "motherfuckers" he wanted to scream, but he was in too much pain to say a single word.
It was too strange.
He was clearly the one who had thrown the kick, yet Shen Lu was standing there perfectly fine, with both her legs completely unharmed. He, on the other hand, clearly felt as if his own left shin had been brutally kicked, snapping it in two.
When it rains, it pours. The moment his shin broke, he lost his balance, fell flat on his butt, and landed on the arm he had just had surgery on. The pain was so bad now he felt like he was suffocating.
Liu Qiang and Yang Jing came out a moment later, expecting to see Shen Lu on the ground, unable to get up. But the scene before them was their son, lying on the floor, screaming and crying in agony.
Their hearts tightened, and they rushed to his side.
Another flurry of chaos ensued. The young nurse called a doctor over, who performed emergency treatment on Liu Yaozu’s injuries. After giving him a painkiller shot, the doctor informed the family that a second surgery was necessary.
"Why did you conceal his medical condition? If we had known the patient had a history of mental illness, we would have used appropriate medication to stabilize him. Look at this mess now! The arm surgery was for nothing, and now he’s broken a leg!"
Liu Qiang was both panicked and baffled. "Yaozu doesn’t have a mental illness! He, he... Doctor, could there be some mistake?"
The doctor asked sternly, "No mental illness? Then how did he break his leg? Weren’t you told he needed to stay in bed and rest for three days after his surgery? How did he run out of his room?"
Yang Jing was crying so hard she could barely breathe. "It’s all Little Deer’s fault! Couldn’t she just have given in to Yaozu? Now she’s caused him to end up like this... Waaaaah..."
Standing nearby, Shen Lu let out a gloating smile, but quickly smoothed her expression into a look of blank innocence.
"It’s my fault? I didn’t say or do anything to him. He’s the one who screams and shouts at me every time he sees me, saying things that are worse than bullshit. I thought he had a mental illness, which is why I didn’t talk to him—I didn’t want to provoke him."
The young woman blinked her large eyes at the doctor. "There aren’t many brothers out there who demand their sister kneel and call her a bitch, right? I’ve lived this long and this is the first time I’ve ever encountered something like it."
