Chapter 1652: You Don't Deserve to Be Happy
Chapter 1652: Chapter 1652: You Don’t Deserve to Be Happy
Xi Feng’s lips bore a trace of blood as she approached Ming Hong. Ming Hong did not shy away. Xi Feng was not some pet cat or dog; she was the legitimate bride brought into the Spirit God Clan through an official marriage, and even if one overlooked the many years she spent in the Spirit God Clan, she was still the grand princess of the Western Wilderness.
“The last time I drank with the emperor, he was lamenting that he should have had more children back then. He has only you and Huang Jiu, and now that Huang Jiu is gone, the Western Wilderness has no Crown Prince.”
Before Xi Feng could speak, Ming Hong said these words, effectively silencing her.
She laughed bitterly, her laughter filled with infinite mockery, “Perhaps you’re still thinking, how fate plays with people. Back then I wanted to marry Ming Xiu, made a deal with you, helped you get rid of Yan Ye, at least distracted him from the Spirit God Clan. Ten thousand years have passed, Yan Ye indeed never appeared in the 33 Heavens, and my marriage to Ming Xiu lasted only twenty thousand years. Ten thousand years in exchange for twenty thousand years of an unhappy marriage— is this my retribution?”
“Since the marriage is not a happy one, what’s wrong with letting go now?” Ming Hong asked with a smile.
Xi Feng bit her lip, “Great Sovereign Ming Hong, is there a happy couple among the powers in the 33 Heavens? They merely take what they need from each other.”
“There is!” Ming Xiu interjected, “The Emperor Feng from the Sacred Wind Heavenly Region, the Emperor Mo from the Nine Provinces Ink Region, and perhaps now, the emperor of the Yanmo Heavenly Clan. Xi Feng, I don’t deserve Little Ninth, and you don’t deserve happiness!”
This time, Ming Xiu was utterly unsparing.
Xi Feng stared dumbfounded at the retreating figures of the two, tears rolling down her cheeks in anger. Why? Why was she the legitimate princess of the Western Wilderness, while Beiting Huang was just a bastard, yet what she received always seemed to be less?
The emperor and empress of the Western Wilderness were quarreling. The emperor, having heard of the Demon Queen’s return, wished to bring her back for a visit, which the empress vehemently opposed, fearing that it would offend the Spirit God Clan. At this moment, learning that Xi Feng had been sent back by the Spirit God Clan and that the old ancestor was pressuring Ming Xiu to divorce her, the empress fainted from anger.
“Father, I was sent back because Huang Jiu has returned, Ming Xiu wishes to marry Huang Jiu, not me. Knowing this, do you still wish to bring Huang Jiu back?” In front of the emperor, Xi Feng would usually refer to Beiting Huang as “sister,” but now she omitted the word “sister” entirely.
The emperor looked deeply into Xi Feng’s eyes, “Ming Xiu is your husband, and as long as he hasn’t divorced you, you are still his wife, don’t speak like that about your sister!”
“Sister?” The empress suddenly came to and sprang up, “What sister? The one you had with that shameless woman? As soon as you went to the Dark Demon World you dallied with that woman and delayed your return. Now, the bastard child you had with that woman is harming my daughter, do I owe them anything?”
The emperor hung his head and no longer wished to say another word. When he married his wife, he had pledged never to give his heart to another woman. Yet, upon laying eyes on that woman from the Dark Demon World, he was utterly besotted. He owed his empress a duty, but his heart was genuinely stirred by Huang Jiu’s mother.
Xi Feng scoffed inwardly, “Father, you and Great Sovereign Ming Hong said there is no Crown Prince in the Western Wilderness, now that I have returned, declare me the Crown Prince!”
The emperor abruptly looked up at Xi Feng, and seeing that she was staring back at him with the same resolve, he nodded in agreement.
